Inner Sphere Advanced Test Game
« on: 15 April 2015, 19:29:32 »
Setup

Turn 1

While numerous skirmishes and raids have broken out along the Lyran/ Draconis border, the real damage has been to the Capellan Confederation. Caught in a combined push by forces of both the AFFS and FWLM, The Capellan State has suffered grievous losses.

Meanwhile both the Lyran Commonwealth and Federated Suns have expanded their periphery border, with the Suns expansion coming to the detriment of the Taurian Concordat...

House Liao shall make its displeasure known shortly. The League has chosen a poisonous viper as its play toy it will soon regret its choice.

That poisonous viper struck first and is now paying the consequences.  Now the formerly proud capellan state is a puppet being pulled between the strings of Houses Kurita and Davion, and so can only break in the end...

The Chancellor is no puppet to the Dragon. The arrangement we have is purely business, and profitable for the Combine.

Will edit with future turn results.

UPDATE
March 3027 (Liao, end of turn 2)

The Chancellor shows the Inner Sphere that, even when you think you have them on the ropes, you can't  discount the Capellans.
In a lightning series of strikes and despite horrendous losses at the outset of the war, House Liao has launched attacks into the Free Worlds League that has seen the capture of Oriente and Regulus, plus numerous systems between them and the former Capellan border.

Janos Marik has relief forces scrambling to retake these vital League core worlds, and will likely succeed, but the Chancellors daring move has displayed the vulnerability of the League defenses at a time when Capellan troop morale must have been flagging. These break-through attacks will have re-invigorated the CCAF and sent shock waves through the FLWM high command.

In the midst of all this the Chancellor still had the foresight and business (though at gun point) acumen to secure his foothold in the Periphery with the acquisition of numerous, formerly independent, systems. The FWLM is now assaulting a number of these holdings to remove the knife from their back but the Chancellors influence is now widespread and the critical manufacturing facilities within the periphery will remain in Capellan hands...

June 3027 (Marik, end of turn 2)
The Captain-General strikes back and successfully brings Regulus and Oriente back into the League, The Battle of Regulus was a relatively one-sded affair but Oriente was more of a meat-grinder with forces being cut down in swathes on both sides. Smaller battles also took place on New Delos, McKenna, Holt and Kiyev all resulting in League victories. Despite these, admittedly crucial, gains the FWLM was not able to reclaim all that the Chancellor took in his previous strikes and many previously League owned systems still carry the flag of the Confederation.

In the Periphery Lothario and Baltazar, recent acquisition of the Chancellor, fell to League forces but, the most significant battle took place on Canopus IV. The Canopians, recent allies of the Confederation, suddenly and violently learned what it means to be a "Friend of the Chancellor, as several battalions of the Defenders of Andurien swept in a gruelling combat drop to secure the system. In the fighting both the Canopus Industries Alpha and Majesty Metals plants took some serious damage which will see them offline until the time (and significant amounts of money) can be spared to repair these production lines.

September 3027 (Steiner, end of turn 2)

The Archon continue to small scale actions along the Combine border, content to leave the Free Worlds League alone to deal with their Capellan problems. In what many analysts are touting as a slight but subtle move Archon Katrina Steiner was content with retaking La Blon, closing the door to Skye, and reclaiming the politically important world of Tamar. Continuing with her periphery campaign, the wealthy big game hunting world of Hunters Paradise fell under Commonwealth occupation, a move which was met with some joy from local business concerns there, given the Commonwealth's corporate prowess.

Though the Commonwealth's actions were moderate by anyone's standards the large build up of forces in the Skye region tells the tale of greater military action to come...

December 3027 (Kurita, end of turn 2)

Christmas was a sad time for many Commonwealth families with messages of lost loved ones spreading wide after the latest Kuritan offensive. Lyran forces had successfully reclaimed Tamar but it was a short-lived celebration as drive flares of the main Draconis assault appearing in the skies over Tamar soon after the Commonwealths victory. Massed regiments of mixed units ranging from legions from Arkab, veterans of Galedon and Rasalhague and the elite Sword of Light, backed up by the Tooth of Ymir mercenaries, executed a swift and surgical combat insertion, catching Lyran forces unawares and decimating the defenders. Losses amongst the Kuritan House units were minimal but, sadly, the Tooth of Ymir, who bore the brunt of the initial fighting, were destroyed.

In a coordinatoed effort Kuritan forces simultaneously struck at Verthandi, eliminating a Lyran task force in the region. The attacks in both regions were resoundingly successful but DEST forces failed to capture the prized JumpShips that had been amassed in the two systems for a *planned invasion focusing on the crucial Kuritan worlds of Rasalhague and/or Alshain*.

*Strategic assessments by Draconis ilitary High Command only - not confirmed.

March 3028 (Davion, end of turn 2)

The Fox, continuing the assault of coreward Capellan systems, claimed both Ronel and Tigress in the latest round of Federated Suns attacks. Of greater loss to the Capellans, however, was the defeat at the battle of Liao. Elements of the Crucis March Militia and the crack mercenary unit, Team Banzai, defeated the Liao defenders and currently hold the ancestral Capellan system. In a separate action, one which raised the eyebrows of Coordinator Kurita, a battalion of Avalon Hussars occupied the periphery world of Dante, formerly an Outworlds Alliance holding. Though Dante has little intrinsic value, its strategic position can not be discounted. The occupation lead to a diplomatic envoy being despatched to New Avalon to personally speak to Prince Davion regarding the Coordinators concerns. It is unclear as yet whether this move by the AFFS will affect the peace that has existed between the Combine and Federated Suns since the close of the 3rd Succession War, but initial indications point to a slight relaxing of the tension that the Dante occupation created.

June 3028 (Liao, end of turn 3)

Hell hath no fury like a Capellan backed into a corner...
In an astounding display of military cunning and strategic flexibility, the CCAF has struck a crippling blow to the Free Worlds League and the FWLM. A total of eleven systems fell to the Chancellors army in a surge of Capellan aggression not seen since the Andurien Wars.  The losses to the League include Claybrooke, Mosiro, Kiyev, New Delos, Tsinghai, Oriente and Andurien. These last two regional capitals of the League have caused a wave of unrest to spread through the League's population who wonder if the Confederation Armed Forces can be stopped.

Not satisfied with striking a major blow to the League the Chancellor also consolidated his Periphery presence with the capture or recapture of Carthage, Hellespont, Niops and Canopus IV. THe bitter fighting against League forces on Canopus saw the, already damaged, manufacturing facilities there laid waste entirely.

The Free Worlds League has been left reeling from these brutal assaults and, some analysts predict, will need a small miracle to recover.

September 3028 (Marik, end of turn 3)

The FWLM has scrambled to retake those worlds lost to the Capellan's mid-year assault but met with only partial success. League forces managed to liberate the occupied systems of Calloway, Kiyev, New Delos and Tsinghai but the crowning achievement was the reclamation of Oriente, a key strategic system in the war against the Confederation. In addition to these the League military was also able to capture the Capellan system of Second Try, which has opened the door for an assault on Sarna unless the Chancellor moves to retake it. Despite the crisis on the Capellan front, and to much criticism by military analysts, the Marik despatched a veteran unit of the Orloff Grenadiers to occupy Hardisay Haven in the periphery near Circinus. The world lacks any significance, financially and strategically, and the Captain Generals move has been met with a tirade of complaints from the Principality of Regulus on whose doorstep the Capellan forces are standing.

Despite this one can not discount the successes that the Free Worlds League has achieved in these difficult times. As to whom the advantage belongs in this conflict... that is anyone's guess right now.

You need to have one player for each faction but there are plenty of players there to fill a game. :)

This seems more of a baseline for a strategic version of our favorite game world rather than some kind of bot thing.

If you can program it to be balanced no matter where on the map you start, then you have something.

It's round 10 and things are not going well for the Kapteyn Alliance. It's looking more and more like a Federated Suns win on the horizon...
