Features the following design quirks: Fast Reload , Internal Bomb Bay, Poor Performance
A light, cheap, minimally armed Aerospace Fighter intended for both Planetary defense forces and use aboard Warships.  The Torch is meant to do one thing only: Bomb Dropships and Warships.  A 6-ton bomb bay allows it to carry a single anti-ship missile as its payload.

The standard operating procedure for Torch wings is the following: Load external hardpoints with extra fuel and the internal hardpoint with the anti-ship missile.  Approach hostile fleet under fighter cover.  Launch the wing's anti-ship missiles, detach external fuel pods, and get outta dodge.

Thus taking advantage of the fact you can carry external stores OUT of an atmosphere, but not IN to one! :D

Reentry does very bad things to the outside of your ship.  Exiting atmosphere, not so much...

If you increase tonnage to 30, you can swap so fuel is internal and ASM is external freeing up substantial tonnage for improvements like a blanket of SLs making it significantly more lethal after the ASM is launched.
