Title: Miniature of the Fortnight #27: Cataphract
Post by: Xiwo Xerase on 09 October 2017, 09:40:04
This fortnight, we will look at the FrankenMech that made it big, the Cataphract.  The 'Mech is a mainstay of the CCAF and can be found in the AFFS and LAAF as well (at least until the end of the Jihad).  More background information and information on using it in game can be found in its 'Mech of the Week article (http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php/topic,53731.0.html).

There are three metal minis for the Cataphract:CGL's Command Lance Pack includes a plastic sculpt of the Cataphract, which is based on (if not identical to) the CTF-3D sculpt.

Please post any miniatures you'd like to share with us.  We'd love to see them!

As always, thank you for reading and a special thank you to those who post!

Our next fortnights will be:

Well, I'll start this off.  I need to take new pictures but here's a picture of my Cataphract in the colors of the Donegal Guards.  This is a rebased plastic Lance Pack mini painted at the same time as the Marauder (http://bg.battletech.com/forums/index.php?topic=56376.msg1300412#msg1300412) I shared earlier.

The only Cataphract photo I have.  From about a year and half ago when I first picked the brushes back up after 20+ years.  I was trying for a red desert type camo.  Can't take new photos as the mini (and all his fellows from then) got donated to the neighbor kids to enjoy playing with as they saw fit.  Made their day  :)

And when you already seen MWO, one but have only stock and some GS at hand.

We should have included the Caeser as well.

We should have included the Caeser as well.
The Caesar is physically distinct enough that it could stand on its own, so I believe this isn't a problem.  (That said, it would have fit in here if we had thought of it.)

Here are my Cataphracts.

The purple one was my first and was painted in the early 90s (it shows) The camouflage one was painted in 2001 and the last one was a Christmas gift for 97Jedi back in 2009. I forget the unit it was painted in offhand... There were no complaints.

I love the image of this Mech from the Battletech Compendium; The Rules of Warfare.

Here is my take on the drawing, painted in Capellan goodness!

Nice! Wasn't it named "Humpty" across the front also?

Yeah, this was the image. One of my favorites, I feel it really captures the game.
