Does anyone know why the Yurei and Waneta appear to be 1 ton and 1/2 ton underweight, respectively?

Unless I'm missing something, the values in the book add up to the correct weights?

Not when I entered them into HMP....

Is HMP using the LAM construction rules from the compendium? We don't have current construction rules so I would guess HMP has some component wrong.

I have an old version of HMP from the early 2000s. It models all the Star League-era LAMs correctly, even the retconned "Mk I" variants from TR: 3085.

I don't know what changes updated versions of HMP might have made.

Hello,

I don't know what changes updated versions of HMP might have made.

Not many, IIRC. Fact is, HeavyMetal Pro is completely out of date. Has been for years, I'm afraid.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you,

Your best bet would be to look at the various weights in the book, and then see where HMP and the book differ if you're looking to see where or if they differ.

Probably in the Clan gear if he's getting correct data for the other LAMs, including the ones in TRO:3085

HMP is wrong. You can add up the weights listed in the machines entry manually and it comes out to the correct weights for both.

I would suggest Solaris Skunk Works instead. It doesn't do LAMs (yet) but it is update to date and regularly updated.

One of my players thinks he's found out what the problems are (finally!). The Yurei has tonnage allocated for seven jump jets but only mounts five, while the Waneta has its conversion equipment half a ton overweight.

Suggested fixes: increase the weight of the bomb bay on the Yurei from one ton to two and replace the ER small laser on the Waneta with an ER medium.

Thoughts, anyone?

Hello,

Conversion equipment rounds up to the nearest full ton, not half-ton.

You seem to be correct on the Yurei.

Thanks,

Does that mean the Scorpion LAM's conversion system weight is wrong?

True. But I thought I'd ask.

It's also a ton overweight. 1.5 tons if the conversion system has the wrong weight.

No, because the Scorpion LAM itself is completely wrong.  Note the entire "Illegal" tag all over it...

But does that mean Quad LAM Conversion Systems round up to the nearest ton as Herb said, or that they round to the nearest half ton?

They don't do anything because they don't exist.

They do exist. They didn't work.

I noticed that for same reason the PHX-HK1 Phoenix Hawk LAM Mk. I in TRO:3085 listed each JJ separately, could this some how be related

Let me rephrase that They don't exist under the rules.

They have an illegal tag because there are no rules for quad LAMs, so there  is no proper rounding, since there is no proper anything with regards to them.

Hello,

Exactly. It would not even be worth an errata, because it was a failed piece of technology to start with. It could have been made an odd number of kilograms, but since it ended up being so much junk in the end, it doesn't matter if we got it wrong.

Thank you,
