"Printer Friendly Terrain" help
« on: 06 June 2013, 13:22:52 »
Hello y'all,

A while back, there was a special set of terrain floating around the websites that was "printer friendly".  It was the same WizKids terrain we have always used, but instead of having details(like rooftops, trees, and water effects), it was just the out line of the terrain.  Warrenborn only has the WizKids stuff, so do any of y'all have a link to it?  Or if you have a file with all of it, could you please PM it to me?  Thanks in advance!

Was it any of the following sites?

http://digilander.libero.it/zakken/MWDarkAge/

I made all my own terrain (minus buildings and roads). It cost me about $30 to make hills, trees, etc and was actually pretty fun.

For buildings and roads I use the printable one from Dropzone Commander.

Hope it helps!

Sadly, my computer is identifying the pdf's in the first link as harmful.  The second link is nice, and bookmarked for the future.

I plan to make terrain next summer for my 15/10mm gaming, a mix of sci-fi, WW2, and general purpose.  Your terrain does look pretty good.  Too sad about those Highlanders...they are completly outclassed by those Dragoon's and that zombie Natasha Kerensky.

Hawk Wargames is boss on downloadable terrain.  I've seen at FLGS that they use thick cardstock, then reinforce the inside with crosses of foam-core white glued down, then fill them with expanding foam.  Just as solid as a resin building, but 10 times lighter.

I like the idea, with the foam board. I pulled my out the other day and noticed some have bowed a bit from humidity changes. :(

I plan on 4'x8' pink foam insulation sheet cost me $8 at Home Depot. They reset is cheap wally world paint, some flock, and spackle. Oh yeah also 1/2 of a foam shipping carton from a bulk order of HDDs at my old job.

I put a super thin layer of spackle the foam I used for the walls and bunker to give it a cement texture. I also did a thin layer on the hills to cover any sign of the foam before paint and flock.
