I'm running some intro scenarios for some new players this week, all of whom are familiar with tabletop gaming but only one of whom has played Battletech before. I'm thinking it would be better to give them two or three 'Mechs each, so they get a sense of the tactics involved in the game but I'm not sure how to simply balance it while making sure each player gets a proper taste of how the different 'Mech classes work?
I've got two sets of the old intro box from the 2000s, the new box from last year, some Urbanmechs, an extra Vindicator, Awesome, Charger and Firestarter from the lance pack and a load of Clan 'Mechs I probably won't use.
Ideally it's going to be some sort of game beyond 'blow up the other guys' but I'm not sure if that might be best so the players can just enjoy blowing stuff up in the 31st century?
