A Flashpoint Idea with 3025 Lore as Basis
« on: 12 July 2019, 10:02:38 »
Basically you try to destroy the Grey Death Legion and retrieve the Helm Memory Core

Employers Briefing - A group of mercenaries specializing in terror tactics and has supported insurgents on many worlds is reportedly arrived on Helm. They claimed to have acquired sensitive data that must be retrieved before they use it to ignite conflict with these obvious fabrications. Retrieve the data as evidence and eliminate the terrorists The Grey Death must not survive to spread their hate further.

So your employers lie to you about both the unit and the data allowing for a betrayal scenario which could introduce bounty hunter missions randomly to your missions... The actual Bounty Hunter would have a chance of showing up during a mission in attempt to claim the bounty on you. He might help you for a bit because he needs to take you down not allow the enemy to take you down. Or if your winning he might wait to hit you or maybe fight with the enemy

Amechwarrior wrote a guide on how to create a flashpoint.  If you create it, I'll beta test it for you!  Sounds fun.

couple issues.
Helm was the site of their landhold, so they were supposed to be there. their dependents and conventional vehicles were on world, while their mech force was offworld on campaign.
the attackers who hit their landhold on helm were FWL regulars, carrying out orders obstensively as a result of the warcrime the GDL  had been accused of and the fact they went AWOL to helm instead of go before a court.
and they didn't find the Helm data until the end of that whole snafu, right before they left helm. at that point they had very little left in the way of hardware.
even if the above wasn't in play, the fact is that victory in such a mission would entail a major derailment of canon setting history, likely resulting in the GDL no longer existing and the entire tech Renaissance being prevented.

good idea, but needs work.
