Hi all,
I have severe old timers disease and have forgottin which ship/mini is shown on the cover of the 3057? Please help I am going even more crazy trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance, I know it's an easy one but just can't find the info.

i think it's a McKenna
-
It could be a McKenna, though it's a dead ringer for the Leviathan. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Leviathan_(Heavy_Transport)
Though there where no stats for the Leviathan till 3067, fluff states that the Ghost Bears started building the ships with help from the Snow Ravens as early as 3044 but had to halt construction shortly before the Invasion but the ships where used as transports during their relocation after the Great Refusal.
-
I believe that the TRO 3057 cover was the Leviathan Mk 1. the Ghost Bear / Snow Raven designed mass people transport for getting your workers from Clan Space to your Inner Sphere holdings.
though saying that, the Leviathan is not detailed with in either TRO 3057 or 3057 revised.
also the cover of 3057 has the Ghost Bear Logo prominantly on the bow of the warship, 3057 revised has removed the Ghost Bear logo.
it does look like the Leviathan mini released a few years ago though.
-
I think it was a case of the cover artist, Gregory Bridges, making something cool to put on the cover and the writers thinking up of the name, stats and fluff later.
-
Looking at it now.... appears to be a Leviathan
-
It's a Lev I.
-
TRO3057 cover art & Leviathan art:
-
Wow,thats totally a leviathin.
-
Thanks guys, Now after searching my tro's I can't find one, so I ask you once again. Where is it listed and I can't seem to find it at Iron Winds' so, can you point me there to?
GOD I MISS THIS PLACE!!! I didn't realize how bad until it was gone....
thanks again,

I guess it's technically the Leviathan II since the original Leviathan is a jumpship, and it didn't show up in print until TRO3067 page 222.

No pics of the mini at IWM, but it's at: http://ironwindmetals.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3927 (http://ironwindmetals.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3927)
(I think my verification thingy spells something dirty this time!!! [rockon])

No, the Lev 1 is a Warship (ie built with a compact core).
The mini available from IWM is a representation of the Lev 2, and is not highly recommended, primarily for the seem running lengthwise that does not fit together well. The Lev 1 was a special prize piece a number of years back, and sadly is far superior to the commonly available model.

Once again you all rock, Thanks Jayhawk I will start the aqcuiring phase now....You know how it is when you get a bug up your a...butt and have to have something all the sudden.

Dunno, but this popped up first: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Leviathan_(JumpShip) (http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Leviathan_(JumpShip))
Besides, you can't question anything that happened in "Far Country". It had DEST ninjas fighting talking birds, man!

Multiple units share the same name. The transport came before the battleship.

Actually they aren't multiple units with the same name, they are the same units with different names (or at least temporary designations).
And the transport version really didn't come first, more -chicken/egg- except the egg hatched a duck instead of an eagle.
The Bears were halfway through building two Leviathan Battleships when they decided to up and move to the InnerSphere. By leaving off the big guns they had room for 250,000 passengers and 300,000+ tons of cargo. When they had all relocated they refinished the "transports" the rest of the way into Battleships. TRO 3067 pg222.

No, there are different units. The Jumpship came long before the warship, just as there are mechs, vehicles, and aerospace fighters with the same names. I merely linked the two the OP was hunting for as someone else only linked the jumpship.

Haylcon,
I thought you were talking about the two Ghost Bear units.....

....and completely missed the earlier reference to the identically named Jumpship.
On a completely different note: ;D Who remembers anything from Far Country, has anyone read that book since it came out???? ;D

I must have paged through the original 3057 back in the day about 100 times trying to figure out which ship that was... @p?
-
the transports were refitted into battleships, with the exception of the Rasalhauge, which was built from the ground up to be the heavy battleship
