Great stuff as always! I do have to wonder what the hell's happening in the Homeworlds and can you possibly remind us what 'Clans' are left there? I know the Burrocks are there but almost all the rest did a runner with the Serpents assault/flight into the Inner Sphere right?

The Uhlans are in it deep.
I wonder if they will survive.
If the attack on Borden was not preplanned their might be a spy among them.

Or they got predictable with their 'random' strikes in the Confederation and walked into a well orchestrated ambush.

Bloody hell...the Homeworlds ain't what they use to be to be sure.  And with the loss of so many worlds I doubt that the Society is really that much of a threat...

To be fair the canon War of Reaving made a much worse mess of the Homeworlds than I did and the current Clans based there probably have a hope of getting on with it just fine.  Plus now that there are only "two" factions in the homeworlds there will be a lot less division of resources overall I'd say they aren't in the "End of Days" area yet...

Sad we didn't see Ferdinand fight against whatever was being used again it.  Really action pack update, Dragon Cat!

Capital Missile tipped with a nuke nothing special which is why I skipped it the Ferdinand did its job to protect the ground forces to the planet.

Anyone notice anything special with the Rabid Fox debriefing?  Maybe the psychologist?  I was considering splitting off the piece, specifically Christopher Grant's story, into its own "mini-story" if there's interest?  If I did it would take it from the Pirate Cluster through to the present and a bit beyond the timeline.  Or you can wait for the future to reveal itself as we go along?

I'm going to guess that this is one of two things.

1.  A test of loyalty to see if he's still suitable or

2. Either the Bounty Hunter or an agent of him/her with a job offer.

I'm curious to see where you take it though :) As always its superb stuff.

I'm thinking it's the Bounty Hunter with a job offer.

I'd be happy to see it in the main story or as a stand alone.

I've gone with the stand-alone version because I want to add some back story to the character.  This background story is brand-new and has not been seen in the timeline to date.

I hope you enjoy

Into October my thanks to James Tanaga for the continued development into the remains of Clan Fire Mandrill

Sphinx Raptor Pyramid, Clan Enclave
All Dawn, Rim Collection
Periphery
1st October, 3101

Khan Aemelia Showers walked through the small step pyramid that served as the Sphinx Raptor’s primary base on All Dawn, escorted by a full point of Sphinx Raptor Elementals in their legacy Corona battle armor. The barren corridors of the pyramid served to remind her how small the Raptors were compared to her own Mandrills. The pyramid, gifted to the Raptors by her Clan, could house upwards to five hundred thousand civilians of all Castes, yet here, she had not seen any of the Raptors own. Not one. And that worried her.  The Raptors held the worlds of Ceram and Harlez which Aemelia knew they had constructed factories and training bases there but surely not all their civilians had been left on those backwaters too?

What was a Clan’s worth without its lower castes? That was a question she often asked the many Warrior sibkos within her Clan, and even the Raptors own since their arrival into the Collection, to highlight the importance of the lower castes were to them, often before sending the munchkins to spend the day helping the lower castes. It was a common assignment within her Clan that served to connect the Warrior Caste with the lower castes. It was that connection to its lower castes that served to unite the Mandrills with the Rim Collection, she reflected.
It no longer was Clan, was her answer to the munchkins. Without the lower castes, the Warrior Caste would be nothing but a shadow of what a Clan was supposed to be. And as she followed the lead Warrior, it confirmed this belief to her.

A sudden stab of pain in her chest forced her to stumble. Leaning against the wall, she cursed her own weak heart. Yet there was nothing she could do about it now. “I am alright,” she mumbled loudly as she pushed herself from the wall, her chest still burnt with stabbing pain.

She would persevere, as she always did. Or die. It was the way of the Clans, she knew. The Sphinx Raptors around her began escorting her once again, as the Jaguar within was humiliated by her show of weakness, yet the Mandrill was proud she had continued with her mission.
Soon, they made it to the comm room and she was let in. She was sweating now and her left arm began to tingle. Perhaps it was her time to go, she reflected. Not yet, she decided not a moment later, for the faces and holoimages of Sphinx Raptor Warriors looking at her in concern reminded she was here on a mission. To keep the Raptors within the Collection was her mission, and she would complete it, even if her damn body dropped dead right after.
She brought herself up, her now-aching back straight, her chest now painfully reminding the aging Warrior her time was near. She ignored it, determined to show the pride she had as a Warrior.

“You honor this old monkey with your presence, Warriors of Clan Sphinx Raptor,” she iterated.

“We honor a Warrior who stood side by side with us even when she not needed to,” answered one, a Star Colonel wearing the badge of the Second Raptor Calvary. Star Colonel Jonathan Banacek, one of Dante’s closest followers, she idly noted. “The very same who saved us when she did not need to,” the man reminded the others.

“Yet a monkey all the same,” rebutted another, a female this time. Aemelia flicked her eyes to study the other woman. Galaxy Commander Laura Truscott of the Raptor’s Kappa CCT, she decided after seeing a badge belonging to the Kappa CCT along with the woman’s rank.
Aemelia saw the battle lines now. Banacek would likely support staying within the Collection as a Mandrill, yet held only a minor bloodname, as far as the Raptors were concerned. Laura held the right bloodname and her rebuke likely meant she would instead support for fleeing the Collection, as per the Raptor’s right. Aemelia knew she would need to find a supporter with the Truscott name to succeed her mission.

Laura Truscott confirmed this belief a second later, as she theatrically raised her hand towards Aemelia. “We may hold a debt to her. Yet that debt does not mean our Clan should lay down and die like the other Clans would demand us of. ”

Aemelia’s eyes darted through the crowd as many of the Raptors bloodnamed Warriors supported the Galaxy Commander. A sharp pain stabbed her heart, causing her to nearly black out, as she grabbed her chest. Damn body, she once again cursed. She forced herself to return to the matter at hand.

“We run, we survive. We fight, we die,” the other woman continued on.

“Yet our Clan brought this upon ourselves, Galaxy Commander,” Jonathan Banacek reminded everyone sharply. Aemelia inhaled, forcing air into her now-aching lungs. “We brought the dezgra Society to the doorstep of the Inner Sphere. They caused thousands of deaths and brought us to war twice with the Lyrans.”

“The Society did so, not us!” the other Sphinx Raptor exclaimed with anger.

“Yet it was us that brought the Society cell into the Inner Sphere, jeopardizing not only ourselves, but our allies as well,” another male voice reminded the angry Galaxy Commander. Star Commodore Eric Truscott, commander of the Raptor’s sole warship, the Elysium, she noted, licking her now-suddenly dry lips. “Perhaps even all of the Inner Sphere.”

She was lightheaded and began to weave. Aemelia did notice nearly as many Warriors seemed to agree with the Star Commodore though, which was good. He continued. “By Clan Law, that is more than enough for a Trial of Absorption to be declared.”

Laura snorted. “By Clan Law, we should have been absorbed countless times over, Star Commodore,” she commented dryly. “And yet here we stand.”

“And yet here we stand,” rebuked the Star Commodore.

“And yet here we stand,” Aemelia rejoined, turning all eyes to the now sweating Mandrill. “We stand together or not at all. The other Clans will declare Clan Fire Mandrill dezgra and yours to be Annihilated when my Clan and the Collection allow yours to depart in peace,” she retorted to the crowd of Raptors as she begun to see stars.

“You and your Clan would allow us to depart in peace,” Laura Truscott asked, in shock.

Battling through the now-crippling pain in her chest and numb arm, she nodded. “My Clan and the Collection swore an oath to yours upon your arrival into the Collection. And I stand by that oath, until my dying breath,” she answered.

She saw many studying her more closely. “As you stand right now, quiaff,” asked Jonathan Banacek after a moment. She knew he was implying she was on death’s door. She nodded to him

“Aff,” she wheezed back. “Until my dying breath,” she wheezed again. “Here I stand,” she forced herself from wheezing as she sent a challenging glare to the assembled Warriors, forcing her body to give in to her will. “Here I stand,” she again rejoined, now feeding on the tired determination and the resolution of the Fire Mandrill within her as never before, “Until my dying breath. I swore the same oath to the Collection as all of you. My Clan swore the same oath as yours. A sacred oath to defend the Collection and each other and I stand by that oath even now, when it would be far easier to do as the other Clans demand and Annihilate you. To my dying breath, I stand loyal to my oath,” she spat out before coughing out blood.

As the other Warriors looked upon one another or kept their gaze on her, she felt her body give out. Landing on the floor, she forced herself up on her knees and looked through the eyes of the Warriors around her. Many showed concern, yet many others looked upon her stoically. As proper Warriors watching the noble death of one of their own, she realized belatedly.

It was then the pride and ferocity of the Smoke Jaguar within her finally pass away. The tired, determined Mandrill within gave a sharp victorious howl before it too left her. Aemelia followed soon thereafter, her body hitting the floor.

No one spoke for minutes after ward, too shock and in awe of the dead Warrior. It was Jonathan Banacek who recovered first.

“To this day and to the last, to my dying breath, I stand ready to protect the Collection from all threats, here I stand,” he vowed, all the while staring down Galaxy Commander Laura Truscott.

One by one, he was joined by other Warriors, who recited his vow. Soon, Star Colonel Justine Truscott, one of Laura’s most ardent supporters took the vow. “To this day and to the last, to my dying breath, I stand ready to protect the Collection from all threats, here I stand,” she reverently recited.

Laura’s eyes darted to her remaining supporters as they too began to recite the now sacred vow Jonathan Banacek had begun. “I refuse to be a damn vermin Monkey!” she screamed at Banacek.

“Then die,” he calmly answered back, his voice steel. “Point Commander Cho, get this dezgra out of here and held until I can properly dispose of her in a Trial of Grievance.”

“You will be the one to die, vermin!” she screamed at him as two of the Corona-suited Elementals began making their way to her.

“Perhaps, Galaxy Commander. Yet you will die eventually. We all do, as Khan Showers’ death just now reminds us,” Star Commodore Eric Truscott answered, waving a hand to the Monkey Khan’s corpse.

“Seyla,” Justine Truscott gave her support. All around them, their fellow Warriors nodded or replied similarly.

Seeing no support remaining in her fellow Warriors, all fight left the Sphinx Raptor Warrior, and she allowed herself to be dragged from the room.

A moment of silence intruded into room following Laura Truscott’s eviction, as the Warriors within took stock of the abrupt change they had just endured. Walking to Aemelia’s body, Jonathan Banacek knelt down, brushing the dead woman’s grey hair with a hand. “Loyal to her oath, she stood defiant to her death. And gave us our sacred charge,” he spoke reverently as he looked upon her body.

“Seyla,” spoke first one, then another, of his fellow Warriors around him, until finally only he remained.

“Seyla,” he whispered reverently, as he begun to pick up the old Warriors body.

Cassandra, Clan Enclave
All Dawn, Rim Collection
Periphery
6th October, 3101

Jonathan Banacek stood with his arms cross as the HPG was activated. Khan Natasha Faraday sat in a chair slightly in front of him. Soon, the holoimage of the Loremaster of the Clans Zane Carns appeared. Jonathan felt the glare the older man gave him and Natasha; one he returned with full strength.

“Who are you and where is Khan Showers?” he demanded Zane Carns was not a young man but both of them could see the fire of youth still burned inside him.

“Killed in honorable combat during the Trial of Absorption against Clan Sphinx Raptor, Loremaster,” his new Khan reported succinctly. Jonathan would have rolled his eyes if not for the importance of the cover story. “Following her death, I was selected as the new Khan of Clan Fire Mandrill. I am Khan Natasha Faraday. You and the Grand Council will be dealing with me and saKhan Jonathan Banacek until we die or are replaced by others more capable of the position.”

“Banacek. That is a dezgra Serpent Bloodname. Your Clan was to deal with them,” he commented as he studied them Zane’s inference was that the Mandrills should have annihilated the remaining Serpent presence to ensure no Society elements remained.

“Khan Showers changed the order to a Trial of Absorption, Loremaster and took full responsibility for her actions,” Natasha informed the Nova Cat Warrior. “We will carry out the order when the Great Clans do so as well,” she answered the unasked question.

“It would seem a bit hypocritical of your Clan to annihilate your former Serpent Warriors, when they themselves did not,” he acknowledged. “Admirable. Still, you make no friends and strengthen your enemies with this change to the Council’s demands, Khan. The Falcons, Horse, and Wolves in particular will want your blood even more.”

“Good thing they have to make it past either the Lyrans or the Spirits to get to us, quiaff,” Jonathan baited the man.

“I doubt the Spirits are that much of a threat, saKhan,” the Nova Cat dismissed the Spirits.  “Still, your remark, though baited, is valid concerning the Lyrans. Are you sure you want to do this, quiaff,” he asked a moment later, gazing intently to Natasha.

Natasha turned to Jonathan and both met each other’s gaze before turning to meet Zane Carns’ own.

“Aff, Loremaster. It is. Here we stand,” was her simple answer, paying homage to the deceased Aemelia Showers.

The older man sighed “very well.”  He said pausing for a moment looking at the Mandrill leader “Khan Faraday understand this you were not abjured by the Clans of this Council however you were part of a system that caused us to take the act to form our own Council abandoning our Homeworlds” he said even though the Nova Cats had been one of the first Clans to fully abandon the Homeworlds it seemed that Zane still had desires on the worlds that had birthed the Clans.  “I will not stop you attending future Grand Councils however ensure you have very valid reasons for being there.  Otherwise I believe it would be best for your Clan that you keep your attendance to a minimum and your heads low” he advised it riled Natasha Faraday that the Loremaster thought he could talk to her like that.

“We are Clan…” Jonathon Banacek began before being silenced by the deadly gaze of the Loremaster.

“Aff you show the honour of the Clans but not…” he paused for a moment finding the right word “not the self reliance.”

“Could you be more precise Loremaster, Quiaff?” Natasha Faraday said questioning his words her Clan, yes her Clan, she thought poudly were more than self reliant.

“Your relationship with the Rim Collection will be honoured by some but questioned by others.  You will find allies among the Clans but also enemies both of which will see your standing in the Collection in different ways.”  He explained the conservative Wardens would see the Mandrills working with the Rim Collection as forfillment of prophecy of the Clans working with the Inner Sphere to bring fourth a new Golden Age.  The aggressive Crusader would see the Mandrills are holding onto the periphery state to survive despite their successes against the Lyran Commonwealth.

“As it has always been” Natasha replied the Council was never a friendly environment “the other Clans will soon learn that… the Rim Kindraa makes my Clan stronger.”  She said using an old term which the other Clans would understand well.

“You must have the blood of Cassandra Faraday running though your veins Quiaff?  It is a term that she would have used.”  Zane Carns said laughing in reply.

“She was my sibko’s gene-mother” Nathasha Faraday confirmed.

“She serves you well” Zane said finally terminating the link between them.

Jonathon’s gaze soon returned to his Khan’s and saw her own looking upon him. “So depite our sacrifices we remain the pariah of the Clans alongside the Mountain Wolves, though marginally in a better position then they since we can attend the Grand Council meetings, though it would be much safer if we keep it to a minimum.”  He said mocking the Loremaster’s words “better that then being as pariah as the Spirits, quineg,” he joked with his new Khan.

“I doubt the other Clans will ever consider the Spirits a Clan again after the orbital bombardment to your former Clan on York,” she answered him outing that matter to rest.  “Watch your tongue in the future” she said referring to his interruption of the Loremaster “less I personally cut it out of your skull,” she threatened him. “Our Clan is much too open to our enemies in the Grand Council for you or any other Warrior to be lobbing insults like that around and putting targets on our backs. Kerensky knows we have a large enough one already,” she grumbled before getting up and leaving him alone in the room.

Planning Hall, Marik Palace
Marik, United Marik Worlds
9th October 3101

“Sire, you cannot be serious” Governess Anita Coleman of the Public Spending Commission said looking at the plans that Captain-General Joseph Marik had proposed.

“You do not think that a good defence is what we need?”  He asked part of his plan was to fortify nearly a dozen United Marik Worlds with fortifications similar to that of a Castle Brian which had been employed by the Star League Defence Force during the original Star League-era.

“It is not that” she said carefully “the expense of these fortifications to build and to run we could build so much more Mechs, vehicles, fighters and personal weapons."

“Conventional defences are not enough to bottleneck our enemies not will they protect our citizens from naval or nuclear bombardment should the old ways return.”  Joseph stressed he was concerned that the Capellans or Lyrans would resort to such tactics in the future.

“The Star League won’t allow it” she said Anita Coleman was a strong believer in the reborn league.

“I do not believe they would support such actions either but the Star League Defence Force cannot be everywhere at once and words do not stop naval autocannon fire.”  He said defiantly

“Then there is the second part” she said even more carefully “what you propose just is not possible” she as defiant as he was being.

   “Really?”

“Washburn already has a capital city in New Chicago.  We would be best to focus on words that are in need of greater infrastructure or improving the cities that need it.”

“New Chicago is a joke” Joseph snapped “for decades the leaders of that planet have run it down and filled their pockets with the money while unemployment and crime has spiraled out of control.  No more” he revealed “as of this morning I am making Washburn the personal property of the Marik family.  An act that will be rectified by parliament this afternoon your structural engineers can move in anytime they wish I want local workers to provide manpower for the project.”  He said his plan was to build an entirely new capital city nearly forty kilometres from New Chicago.  The city would be based on Salt Lake City on old Terra and be a new capital to the planet and to his faith in the Free Worlds League.

“But Washburn is right on the Wolf border we could invest in the world and then lose it!”

“Which is why we will be fortifying Washburn as part of our other project” Joseph pointed out “we will also be purchasing dozens of Oriente Orbital Guns as part of the military budget for future system defence.”

“You will break our budget for the next one hundred years with these plans” she warned.

“Negative we will implement these changes over the span of years I do not expect you to complete these changes this year or in five years."  He said throwing out a number "we will move forward within our own means.”  He promised her.

“There will be opposition to your plans.”

“And I will refute them.”  Joseph promised again these were the first changes he would make in his rule as Captain-General but they would not be his last.  Soon he would leave for Terra and the Star League Conference and there he would show that his nation without Stewart family influences would be a positive influence on the Star League.

AFFS Reinforcements
Broden, Andurien Commonality
Capellan Confederation
10th October 3101

Following the defection of a civilian trade JumpShip in Jacson system detailing the destruction that was being wrought on Broden by the Capellan Confederation’s Armed Forces in an effort to destroy the First Kathil Uhlans an AFFS ground force supported by the FSS Jackson Davion, an Avalon Block II-class Cruiser, and the Foundation Industries owned WarShip Vidar, a Riga-class Frigate, from Sirdar enters the system.  From the orbit of the planet Capellan Pocket WarShips attempt to engage the incoming AFFS units with nuclear tipped capital missiles however these are stopped by the anti-missile systems deployed by the Federated Suns Naval WarShip and escorting DropShips.  The AFFS and mercenary units smash through the Capellan blockade and force their way to the planet.

On short notice the AFFS had only been able deploy the Tenth and Eleventh Syrtis Fusiliers LCTs to the planet supporting them were the New Hessen Armoured Scouts Regiement off of Sirdar.  Fortunately the Kathil Uhlans had already secured much of the planet and there was little resistance to the newly arriving forces the New Hessen Armoured Scouts provide the majority of the firepower for the assault as the reinforcement’s steamroll over the defenders freeing the Uhlans.  With all Capellan Confederation forces in the system eliminated by the Federated Suns are left in control of the planet as the people had suffered with his unit and helped many Uhlans survive the Capellan bombardment Colonel Richard Steiner pushes for AFFS aid to be deployed to the system to assist the population as winter begins to hit the northern hemisphere.  Over the coming weeks additional Federated Suns and Star League aid arrives on the planet to assist the population.

Trials of Possession
Jade Falcon Occupation Zone
25th October 3101

In an effort to take Clan Jade Falcon’s attention off of Donegal and Tharkad and onto their own defence Clan Mountain Wolf launch four Trials of Possession against Zandera, Esteros, A Place and Morges.  In the Morges system they deploy their entire Alpha Galaxy and Clan flagship Werewolf, a McKenna-class Battleship, all commanded by Khan Even Kell himself.

In the system they found the Silver Talon, a Nightlord II-class Battleship, and three clusters of Jade Falcon troops.  While Alpha Galaxy is able to reach the planet the Werewolf and Silver Talon engage at extreme ranges.  Over the course of eight days the Mountain Wolves secure the planet and the Werewolf cripples the Silver Talon but not at great cost the Werewolf is heavily damaged and the Second Wolf Legion Cluster is completely destroyed.  The Jade Falcon ground forces accept Hegira and withdraw from the system pulling back into the Jade Falcon occupation zone with the crew of the Silver Talon abandoning the crippled hulk.

Unfortunately in the other systems that the Mountain Wolves had struck were able to resist the Wolf assault holding position costing the Wolves another two clusters of ground forces in failed assaults.

Moving and shaking of the Inner Sphere and the Periphery. House Marik building Castle Brians for eventual holding out of the Wolves will be interesting if it would work in practice.

Castle Brians did not work too well under the original SL.
I hope they have improved them.
I wonder if the Silver Talon is salvageable, it would make a nice addition to the Mountain Wolfs.

Enjoy seeing the Monkey clan progressing. The only way is up for them. O0

You have James Tanaga entirely to thank for that one I had minimal input into it and I agree it was an awesome scene.  I must admit I have been very lucky with the collaborators that have contributed to this Timeline (which is where the "Thanks" comes from) whether it be a unit, a design or in the Rim Collection/Mandrill story's case an entire nation.

Nice update!  A lot of little size conflcts all around!  It reads like you will be dropping some big shocking changes in the future!  Keep it up!

Well there are a couple of things planned the little conflicts might go on a little bit before hand though.  Time for one big reveal in this update though  O0

Fourteenth Whitting Conference, Whitting Conference Centre
Unity City, North America
Terra, Star League Protectorate
9th November 3101

The leaders of the Star League had assembled once more to elect a new First Lord as the current leader, and host, Governor Bannister Cameron stood first looking around the other leader’s faces some had changed while others appeared as as youthful as they had been when they first came to this council while the Capellan Confederation’s chair still remained empty.  “Welcome to Terra” he began “we are assembled today to elect a new First Lord.  Each of you are eligible to become First Lord of this Star League.”  He said formally looking around the eight other leaders faces.  “During my time as First Lord I must say that I felt a great sense of pride I am the first member of my bloodline to hold this position since Richard Cameron II.”  He said pausing for a moment remembering the last member of his family who had held the position.  Bannister was a cousin to the ruling line and had disagreed with Richard’s views on Stephan Amaris resulting in his exile to the periphery he would never have been First Lord in the first Star League era a twist of fate, and the SLS Wasp’s adventure through time, had landed him here today with these lords.  “My time as First Lord has seen the Star League move from strength to strength and seen the support given to your member states increase to levels beyond those previously achieved.”  He said prodly “we’ve seen the Kittery Prefecture become a stabilizing element between the Federated Suns and Capellan Confederation and Commanding-General Victor Focht has another special announcement to make.”  He said stepping to one side as a younger man assumed the the podium for those who knew him there was an unmistakable facial resemblance to Anastasius Focht with piercing blue eyes and blonde hair.

“Lords of the Star League, I have worked tirelessly with the commanders of the Star League Defence Force to continue Archer Christifori’s work to strengthen our ground and naval forces.”  He said proudly “we have also worked on further fortifying and protecting the worlds of the Inner Sphere from all threats both foreign and domestic.”  The Commanding-General announced recently a spate of terrorist strikes had shaken Star League Protectorate holdings and Star League Defence Force held assets.  “I would like to inform you all that with Federated Suns leader First Prince Victor Steiner-Davion and with the cooperation of the Rasalhague Dominion engineers from all three states have begun to move the ruins of the Focht War College on Tukayyid to Kentares IV.  This facility will be built by the Star League and by the Federated Suns and once it is open it will be open to applicants from across the Inner Sphere and periphery.  As part of the agreement visitors from the Rasalhague Dominion will also be allowed to attend this facility under the escort and protection of the SLDF.”  He announced there was a rumble from around the room specifically from Warlord Minoru Kurita and his advisers at the Draconis Combine table recent border skirmishes between the Combine and the Rasalhague Dominion had begun to increase once more putting many in danger.  “In an effort to increase our security I have one last announcement to make today” he said from the five doors behind the succession lords stepped several officers all dressed in the uniform of the Northwind Highlanders Mercenary Brigade.  “As of the beginning of next year the Northwind Highlanders Brigade will no longer be a mercenary command instead they will form the core of the Northwind Division which will be fully headquartered on Northwind and by agreement will be commanded by officers of Northwind descent.  These units will maintain the highest traditions of the Northwind Highlanders and of the Star League Defence Force.”  He said publicly announcing that the Highlanders would remain in command of their armed forces.  This shock announcement rippled through the chamber at this announcement the Highlanders homeworld was well within the Star League Protectorate and had been for years but the regiments had stuck by their mercenary routes five regiments of hardened troops joining the Star League Defence Force added significant firepower to their already considerable arsenal.

Around the table few others spoke instead Governor Bannister Cameron once again spoke “there are no further announcements from the Star League to be made at this council is there any further business any of you wish to discuss?”  He asked glancing around the room Prime Minister Allison Kanning of the Outer League Alliance and Captain-General Joseph Marik of the United Marik Worlds, the newest members of the council, remained silent not being around long enough to gain enemies at the council.  Of the other leaders Erik Martens Calderon, Protector of the Taurian Concordat, looked most interested in the proceedings despite having little to no chance of becoming First Lord.  “If there is nothing further then I will call for a vote.  I will nominate and vote for Warlord Minoru Kurita of the Draconis Combine as a founding member of this council and as a supporter of Star League Defence Force operations.”  He said nodding to Minoru Kurita out of respect.

“I will accept thank you Governor Bannister Cameron-san.”  He said standing bowing slightly before retaking his seat.

“The Taurian Concordat will also support the Draconis Combine we share Clan enemies on our borders working together is out best chance at resisting their threat.”  Erik Martens-Calderon said standing briefly his hand stroking his beard briefly before he sat back down.

“The Outer League Alliance will support Captain-General Jonas Halas of the Oriente Protectorate to become First Lord.”  Allison Kanning said supporting the other former-Free Worlds League state.

“I will accept this nomination” Captain-General Jonas Halas said standing briefly nodding his thanks to the Prime Minister.

“I will also support this nomination” Captain-General Joseph Marik said speaking up for the first time at the council surprising the other leaders since the United Marik Worlds held both Marik and Atreus the worlds that once controlled the Free Worlds League and supporting Oriente would elevate them to a position that would gain more attention that Marik would gain.

“I will not support Oriente, unfortunately while we share borders with the Oriente Protectorate like your Marik Worlds” Ilsa Centrella said looking at Joseph Marik “our borders are not so peaceful.  Instead I will support Warlord Kurita and pray that he will support the Star League’s principle of peace.”  She said casting the Magistracy of Canopus’ vote.

“The vote stands at three to the Draconis Combine and Warlord Kurita and two to the Oriente Protectorate and Captain-General Jonas Halas.”  Governor Bannister Cameron said looking at Victor Steiner-Davion “with two votes remaining” he said glancing at Archon Jessica Steiner; Victor’s niece and leader of the Lyran Commonwealth.

“I have held the position of First Lord four times” Victor Steiner-Davion said carefully as he rose to his feet.  “But today I cannot bring myself to vote I hold the Star League with high regard and will support it fully it in the future.”  He said retaking his chair.

“The Federated Suns abstains from voting” Bannister Cameron commented neutrally a null vote was not unheard of but as one of the strongest nations in the Star League Defence Force he would have preferred their support with a vote.

“The Lyran Commonwealth will also abstain from voting.  To vote would result in a deadlock which would not be good for this council we do not need a military officer of the Star League Defence Force dictating who becomes our next First Lord.”  Jessica Steiner said being the last to raise to her feet Bannister Cameron almost smiled her use of words supported the Star League Defence Force without casting a vote for either a Kurita or for a leader of the former-Free Worlds League.  For a young member of this council she had shown a lot of maturity.

“With three votes to two and with abstentions from the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth Warlord Minoru Kurita is the fourteenth First Lord of this Star League Council.”  Bannister announced

“I am honoured to accept this position I will serve this Star League and support it in anyway I can.  Without further business I bring this session to an end.”  Minoru Kurita said briefly before moving out the other members of the council quickly left the room as well ending the League conference.

Whitting Conference Centre, Davion Wing
Unity City, North America
Terra, Star League Protectorate
9th November 3101

Leftenant Elle Cooper stepped up to First Prince Victor Steiner-Davion’s desk and saluted “sir the Lyran Archon sir” she reported.

“Thank you allow her in” Victor said moments later Archon Jessica Steiner entered the room and approached the desk Victor nodded towards Cooper dismissing her leaving him with the young Lyran leader “Archon” he greeted her.

“Uncle” she said far less formerly she was Peter’s daughter and it appeared that this was an informal visit “I wish to ask of you some advice.”  She explained

“Careful” Victor said chuckling as he rose from his chair crossing to the side pouring a glass of dark liquid “drink?  Northwind Scotch, I believe our hosts wished to rub in their recent coup.”  He said she nodded and Victor poured a second glass.  “Please” Victor said stepping towards Jessica he handed her the glass and indicated to a pair of comfortable chairs one of which Jessica selected and sat down on.

“Why should I be careful?”  She asked Victor as he sat down opposite her.

“Asking the advice of Davion has caused all sort of trouble for those sitting on the chair that you do.  Your father had the right idea ensure that you and your sister were Steiner’s first despite your heritage it cut you a little slack with the Lyran nobility.”  He explained

“True” Jessica agreed “despite your Lyran education my people always did see you as my grandfather reborn” she said referring to Hanse Davion “but my father always respected your battle record especially your record against the Clans.”

“Focus on the Clans cost me much in my younger days.” Victor admitted “they were a threat that I needed to see ended.  I don’t think I would have done much differently.”  He said glancing down for a moment then back to Jessica “how can I help?”

“It is related to the Clans” Jessica said making it clear where her inquiry landed “the Lyran Commonwealth is threatened from every direction by the Clan menace we have three full Clans and the remains of two others on our borders.”

“We all face the Clans” Victor said he had long ago given up trying to save everyone from the Clans his own nation had to watch for two of the quieter Clans in the Snow Ravens and Nova Cats but still they were a threat to his nation.  “My advice in dealing with the Clans is don’t become too focused on them or on one of them deal with them in a case by case basis but don’t let them take over your life.”  He said taking a sip from his glass feeling the liquid burning its way down his throat the Northwind Scotch was stronger then most other brands.  “Otherwise you’ve done well so far your father would be proud of you.”

“Thanks” she said quietly drinking some of her own drink “I miss them everyday” she admitted.

“You are not the only one” Victor said quietly he missed his sisters Yvonne and Katherine as well.  Victor was one of the elder statesmen of the Inner Sphere with many of his contemporaries having passed away.  He was glad to pass on some of what he learned to the new leaders of the Inner Sphere hoping that they might avoid some of the mistakes that he had made.  “Don’t let your past define you.”

“What do you mean?”  She said more hostile.

“You were the youngest person in Lyran Commonwealth history to command a WarShip…”

“And my name did not help” Jessica said interrupting

“You have fought enemies on all corners and have been victorious.”  He said continuing “you met someone and married them despite them not being of noble blood” he said the Lyran nation was known for holding social class and money over ability.  “And you were brave enough to have a child despite knowing…”

“Don’t you dare do not say my son’s name do not even think about it!”  Jessica shouted standing up from her chair staring at Victor “if you were not the First Prince I’d…”

“You’d what!”  Victor snapped standing up looking at her Victor was not a tall man but he was level with her in height “I’m not talking to you as the First Prince, Jessica, you made it abundantly clear that you wished to talk to your uncle so do what you want to do there will be no political incident there is only us here.”  He challenged her Jessica stepped away towards the door she didn’t to fight him but she stopped short of the door “it is alright to be Archon, to love and to grieve all at the same time.”  He said stepping closer to her “you do not need to be the pillar that hold’s a brave face for everyone you’ve had losses to the Clans and in your own life, Jessica, you are allowed to grieve to remember those you have lost.  And it is alright for you to move forward with your life” he said Jessica shot him another angry look “and to plan for the future.”  He said calmly

“What if I don’t know how?”  She asked he could see tears on her cheeks Victor took another step forward placing his hands on her shoulder slowly Jessica turned into his arms and cried quietly into his shoulder.

“We all know how to grieve” Victor said quietly “its how quickly we get back up that is unique to each of us.”  He continued “lean on your husband, lean on the family around you” he said the Steiner line was an extensive one it wouldn’t show weakness for her to call out for their support in fact it may even bring the nation together he though to himself.  Jessica slowly pulled away wiping her tears from her eyes “maybe I’ll just come to New Avalon and give you a house guest.”

“You and your husband would be more than welcome” Victor said chuckling.

“Thank you, uncle, thank you for listening and for your words” she said “I am sorry to have bothered you” she said motioning towards the door.

“Anytime” Victor said finally as Jessica pulled open the door and left his office.  Victor crossed back across the room and picked up his glass before moving back to his desk sitting down continuing to look over his paperwork soon he would leave Terra and head home to the Federated Suns.

Leaving the office Archon Jessica Steiner did not head back towards the Steiner Wing of the Conference Centre instead she headed towards the centre’s dedicated spaceport and landing strip.  There she boarded her personal Sternensturm OmniFighter and took to the skies over Unity City member state aircraft were only allowed to fly over certain areas of Unity City but that did not bother Jessica instead she ascended well above the planet below meeting up with a DropShip that waited for her.  From orbit the DropShip headed back towards the waiting LCS Iron Fist which was at the Nadir point.

Pirate Hunting
Periphery near Magistracy of Canopus
14th November 3101

Following more than a year of investigations the Magistracy of Canopus’ Ebon Magistrate engage the pirate force that destroyed the Canopian Highlanders Regiment using a nuclear explosive.  During the final assaults the Magistracy force deploys the Amazon Battle Armour suit for the first time in live combat.  The suit is an improvement over almost every other medium battle suit deployed by the Inner Sphere and is able to keep pace with a Clan Elemental suit while also being able to take as much damage and deal significant damage against enemy targets with a configurable arm mounted weapons array and a lethal battle claw.

Supported from orbit by the MSC Canopus, a Feng Huang II-class Cruiser/Carrier, and the ship’s aerospace fighters the Ebon Magistrate do not let up against the pirate force pushing them from one stronghold to the next.  Finally twelve hours after the pursuit had begun the Ebon Magistrate surround and destroy the pirate force the Canopian victors execute each of the surviving pirates leaving their bodies exposed to the elements on the planet as a message to anyone who would wrong the Magistracy.

Border Raid
Sherwood, Nova Cat’s Den
Periphery
24th November 3101

After being deployed in the Filtvelt Coalition for more than three years and observing Clan Nova Cat’s raids and “trials” against the local people the Federated Suns’s Sixth New Avalon Guards RCT take matters into their own hands and launch a raid against the Nova Cat held system of Sherwood.  During their observations on the Clan raids the Sixth choose to follow the Clan’s bidding procedure during the attack winning nearly a company’s worth of Clan technology in the raid before leaving the system.

Nice to see the Highlanders in an update. They always been my favorite Inner Sphere faction.  ;)

Shouldnt it say six regiments instead of five though? You have the original five regiments along with the Northwind Renegades.

Only five regiments were active at the time

1st Kearny Highlanders
2nd Kearny Highlanders
Northwind Rangers (formerly Stirling Fusiliers)
Northwind Hussars
Northwind Renegades

The fifth canon Regiment MacLeod's Regiment was destroyed during Serpent in this AU and folded into the Royal Black Watch or other Northwind commands

note the Royal Black Watch though technically originated with the Highlanders (as per the canon of the second Star League) the Royal Black Watch will not be reunited with the other Highlander Regiments instead they will remain as part of the Royal Black Watch Division.

Hopefully that helps

The Amazon BA sounds interesting, anymore info on it.
The 6th New Avalon guards learn well on how to fight the Nova Cats.
Looks like they may be having numerous raids, I don't think the Nova Cats will take this lying down. O0

Interesting events, i like meet between Victor Steiner-Davion and Archon Jessica.  It's nice to see how some event with the royal family happens.

I see some of the Star League Conferences as the perfect venue for such things it is the one arena outside of a wedding or funeral that I can put these families together.

With the SLDF there's still part of me thats waiting for the other shoe to drop and them to go "Yeah this area round Terra, this is the Terran Hegemony again."

I'm not going to say what plans I have for the SLDF but let's just say they are extensive and that the shoe won't drop for a while yet.

The Hub, March Command Headquarters
District City, Kathil
Capellan March, Federated Suns
12th December 3101

Duchess Kym Hasek walked into the March Command Headquarters on Kathil around her men and women rose from their positions out of respect but she motioned for them to return to their work she was a Captain in the AFFS not someone who deserved such attention.  Field Marshal Nathaniel Hasek approached and she immediately saluted “Field Marshal” she said greeting him.

“Captain, welcome to The Hub.” He said glancing around the room around them it was not nearly as extravagant as The Cave had been on New Syrtis but it was still an impressive room.

“Not as nice as my cockpit” she said low enough for only them to hear “but at least it won’t feel too cozy in the near future.”  She said moving her hands protectively over her belly.

“Congratulations by the way” he said Nathaniel had heard about his niece's pregnancy a few days before when Kym’s transfer had been confirmed she would serve in The Hub for the duration of her pregnancy.

“Thank you, I have a lot to hear about how this place works” she said

“And the people here are the best to teach you” Nathaniel said proudly “let’s get you two started.” He said with a wink guiding her into the room as the future leader of this March, both politically and militarily, this training would serve her well in the future.

Border skirmish
Rasalhague Dominion
25th December 3101

Following weeks of small scale battles the Draconis Combine attempts to send a message to the neighbouring Rasalhague Dominion.  In an effort to retake some lost territory the Draconis Combine strike at Byesville, Labrea, Caripare, Asgard and Kanowit.  Intent on driving back the Dominion but without wasting Elite commands the Combine sends ten of the Ghost Regiments several of which have recently been reformed.  Each of the Ghost commands has been reinforced by double companies of TN-10-0 Tenshi OmniMechs giving the new ninety-five ton design an impressive combat debut.  Tenshi, Japanese for Angel, was the newest Draconis Combine OmniMech and is capable of carrying more than half of its own tonnage in weapons and equipment and is given an impressive debut.

With two regiments deployed to each planet the Combine troops quickly steamroll over the defenders of Byeville, Labrea and Caripare.  On Asgard and Kanowit the Ghost Regiments come across heavier resistance and after eight days resort to heavy artillery bombardment to wipe out the Rasalhague Dominion’s 243rd Battle Cluster and the Seventh Phalanx Cluster.  Neither side deploy naval assets into the conflict restricting it to ground battles.

Arriving from the Star League Protectorate in support of the First Lord are the First Royal Black Watch Brigade, the Northwind Hussars and Northwind Rangers Regiment landing on Xinyang ready to support further Draconis Combine actions or defend from Rasalhague Dominion counter-attacks.

Honour Presentation
Tukayyid Orbit, Clan Space
Inner Sphere
31st December 3101

Across human occupied space people prepared to celebrate the coming of a new year Clan citizens were no different with massive celebrations across the Clan Occupation Zones.  As part of the celebrations this year Clan Snow Raven present the SLS Hood, a fully restored Dreadnought-class Battleship, to the Loremaster of the Clans and the people of Tukayyid as a symbol of unity and strength among the Clans.

The SLS Hood was one of the first active WarShips in the Inner Sphere and been salvaged by the Ravens in the periphery.  Engineers had spent years rebuilding and refurbishing the WarShip to its Star League-era condition while it was fully armed and crewed the ship was far more than a combat asset.  Loremaster of the Clans Zane Carns decrees that the SLS Hood will be crewed by citizens from all of the Clans and guarded by members of the Ebon Keshik from Tukayyid.

Pretty Cool to have a Dreadnought-Class Battleship, i just hope she doesn't end up like original HMS Hood.

I'm curious how and if the Star League (part duo) will react to ancient WarShip with SLS name blazed on it will react.

Has the 2nd Combine-Dominion War happened yet?  Or is nature of the war been removed since the Nova Cats aren't in the combine now?

The 2nd Combine Dominion war I doubt will be anything like the one from the main universe.  And i'm not surprised the 1st Lord is using SLDF troops to back up his conquests on the Dominion's worlds.

She's a symbol also the start of something but overall not really a combat asset or a threat to any modern ship

The Combine and Dominion will have conflicts in the future but they will be state against state instead of the canon.

Bonus time attached you'll see the current WarShip list and the primer for something new I'm trying to set up it marks out where all a state's commands will be primarily based.  I've only had time to do the Star League Defence Force but hopefully it makes sense please if anyone wishes to suggest any improvements feel free.
My three main Alternate Timeline with Thanks fan-fiction threads are in the links below. I'm always open to suggestions or additions to be incorporated so if you feel you wish to add something feel free. There's non-canon units, equipment, people, events, erm... Solar Systems spread throughout so please enjoy
