Post by: bblaney on 20 May 2018, 11:44:01
So I am looking for a little help/advice on an aerospace pilot.

Which would be better overall?

Nat Apt/ Piloting (Aerospace)

or

Nat Apt/ Gunnery (Aerospace)

opinions, please

Thanks!!!!

how often are you going to be making critical piloting checks, how often are you going to be making gunnery checks?

if your pilot is going to be doing NOE ground support missions a lot then the NA piloting will help them survive the "lawn dart" checks.

in most cases gunnery is going to be a lot more useful due to all the shooting your pilot will do,

I'll second what GD said.

Is this a ground support pilot or a air superiority pilot?

Most the time I'd say Gunnery, but for atmospheric GS pilots Piloting can be VERY useful.

Honestly?  I'd recommend Fast Learner, and crank both skills, then take a look at SPAs...

Wouldn't the best be whatever you want for the pilot? If you want them to be a better than average gunner, they NAT/Gunner, if you want them to be a hotshot pilot, then NAT/piloting...

I'd take Piloting for the following reasons:

" What are you, have a deathwish? " When asked about flanking thru an asteroid belt / narrow canyon. And " You did WHAT?!? Are YOU insane!?! " when the battlecams show they did a barrel roll a few meters above the ground at full afterburner after a straight level 15+ DIVE.

Kinda like Han Solo of BT!

Natural Aptitude/Gunnery means you are more likely to hit and do damage to an enemy target

Natural Aptitude/Piloting means you are less likely to lawn dart

Failing Gunnery means you have to come back around the airspace and try again, or about 1-2 minutes.

Failing Piloting means you have to come around the cycle of reincarnation and try again, or about 20 years.

Get the pilot up to elite status so they can take the Golden Goose and Shaky Stick piloting special abilities described in A Time of War companion

Those are definitely two of the better ones...
