I had a similar idea to the original style of Atlas, just turning it into even more of a close-quarters beatstick, minus jump jets.

Overview:
The Atlas IIC was commissioned by Clan Wolf after the successful usage of the
Kodiak Battlemech by Clan Ghost Bear. While not as prestigous as the Orion IIC,
the Atlas IIC was one of the few non-omnimech assault battlemechs to be used by
frontline Galaxies.
Capabilities:
There are few things to be said about the standard model of Atlas IIC other
than 'Not flashy'. As far as Clan mechs go, the Atlas IIC is content to be a
cheap, durable machine, built around cost and material effeciency as well as
firepower and combat ability. To that end, the Atlas IIC uses components nearly
identical to the original model of Atlas AS7-D, with similar dimensions for
easy machining, with a quick refit allowing the 300 Vlar Engine of salvaged
Atlas AS7-Ds to fit and function inside the Atlas IIC. Sixteen tons of
Ferro-Fibrous armor plate the machine, protecting it from all but the most
grevious of conventional mech attacks.
Weapons-wise, the Atlas IIC relies just as heavily upon getting close and
dealing damage as the older 7-D model. An Ultra Autocannon 20 resides in the
right underslung torso, with three tons of ammo providing 15 salvos of fire.
Two Streak SRM-4s in two side-by-side underslung boxes reside in the left
torso, fed by one ton of ammo, and a sextet of Medium Pulse Lasers-two in the
center torso and two per arm-provide deadly accurate fire to any foolhardy
light mechs wanting to backstab the machine. Finally, a pair of LRM-10s mounted
in an upper shoulder rack on the left side provide long-range fire for when the
mech is closing in.
Variants:
The only two known variants of the Atlas IIC consist of the Atlas IIC 2, which
mounts ECM, ER PPCs, LRMs, and a Gauss Rifle in order to devastate distant
foes, and an ATM-utilizing model primarily used by members of Clan Wolf Keshik
units. In the wake of the Clan Wolf Schism, the ATM model ended up being
heavily adopted by Clan Wolf-In-Exile.
