Transformers 4.. whom would be the new baddie?
« on: 18 April 2012, 01:05:04 »
OK..  So shockwave is dead
Megatron is dead
The fallen is dead.
Starscream is dead.

IF you were making the 4th in the series, which currently seems to be going for galvatron (by the trailers so far out for it)
whom would YOU pick instead?
It's not who you kill, but how they die!
You can't shoot what you can't see.
You can not dodge it if you don't know it's coming.

Michael Bay's said he's done a trilogy, and has no intention to take the story further. So the way is open for a Spiderman-style reboot ...

Scary what Bay would do to Unicron based on how Galactus was treated in Rise of the Silver Surfer and that was not done by Bay.

I dunno, the more exposure Beast Wars gets, the more chance someone has of messing it up, a la the extant live action movies.  I'm fine with the occasional easter egg (such as BINALTech Ravage actually being Ravage from the end of Beast Wars, who's personality was transmtted to the present by the transwarp explosion)

If Bay's rebooting Transformers Trilogy any chance we'll get Lucas to reboot the Prequel Trilogy?

It's unusual to have the reboot helmed by the person responsible for the previous iteration.

If Bay is back, and the possibilities exist that he's probably going to continue his trends. Then to correct it, we have to challenge him to make a better film. So, the villain must be someone who no one has much attachment too except for the most obscure fans. Thus, I suggest we put Bay with Ratbat, and we see where the dice may fall.

Maybe this time...  Hasbro will put hot pokers to him and reign the demon in.   Considering that they have managed to make an actual mostly successful cartoon series with an engaging storyline again and tied it mostly into a very good game with a very good sequel to that game on the way...  perhaps Hasbro can convince this lummox and creative black hole to actually do something closer to their material.

That being said...  there is a pretty wide selection of villains to choose from.   I would be happy with a triple changer (Blitzwing) being one of the headliners... always had a soft spot for that bot.

Edit:

*Think of the old Animaniacs bit*   Sometimes this is how I think the concept for the movie will end up being like...

It's that time again...

To make a toy line that looks terrible on a shelf?
To make our fans sob at the abandonment of anything they know?
To find a supposedly attractive woman and cast her, even if she can't act?
To make pad out our already immense pocketbooks?

No... it's time to spin the wheel of villainy to make another Transformers movie!

Nooooooo...  Noooooo...

Hey, come on... the wheel of villainy adds some form of robot oriented plot to what would otherwise be a boring string of unentertaining human adventures.

But the villains make no sense!   It's totally bogus.   Who came up with this wheel of villainy anyways?

Our bosses at Paramount Pictures.

Really now!  They did?   What a great idea!   I love the Wheel of Villainy!

Sooooo...   wheel of Villainy, turn turn turn... tell us the villains we should use...

(spin) Villain number 1...

A fan loved villain who we won't recognize due to bad writing and acting...

(spin) Villain number 2...

Magic Lightning bolts make an iPhone try to kill someone...   movie tie ins with limited edition phones!

(spin) Bankrupt!

We won!  We won! We won!  We don't have to do this picture now!

How profound.
That was so deep.
Pat, I would like to buy a vowel.   (Wrong wheel...)  Oh, sorry.

And repeat the insanity of rather Brawl is Devastator again. Neh! We must not go down that path again. Instead, we will use the Omni Production name for Fortress Maximus: Spaceship Bruce. That surely will not confuse anyone.

Transformers 4: Ghosts of the Past in the Seeds of Tomorrow of the Revenge of the Bruce- The Climax of the Film

Optimus Prime: Stop Zarak! You can not use Bruce. It is too powerful. It will overload your mind!
Lord Zarak: Ha! I say Ha! Even with the power of Bruce, it is not too powerful for one like me. I shall destroy the Power Pack. . .Matrix. And with Bruce, I shall defeat Orion Pax.
Optimus Prime: What did he say, Wally?
Wally(Looks a bit like Blurr only more insect like)- I . . . don't . . . know . . . Convoy. . ., but . . . I . . . sure . . . am . . . tired.
Lord Zarak(who is now combined with Bruce): I AM NOW SAPPO!
Human Soldier: That sure looks like a scorpion in places. We should probably call it Scorponok or something.
Optimus Prime: Oh no we don't! We are not going to confuse the audience. That is Sappo end of story. Autobots attack SAPPO!
Wally: Y. . .E. . . A. . . H
[Megatron jumps out of a giant black Cadillac, but he is now purple.]
Galvatron: HAHAHAHAHAHA! Killing me only made me stronger and purple, Optimus! I see that Scoponok has served his purpose of distracting you from my true plane of releasing the fabled Purple Griffins of Darkmount!
[And then SAPPO is eaten by a giant robotic purple griffin.]
Optimus Prime: Okay, I'm confused. Who are we fighting now?

Think about how much money the TF movies have made - Paramount and Hasbro have no incentive to reign Michael Bay in.

Perhaps not Paramount but at least Hasbro might want to try to keep him on a leash because of the fact that, unlike so many other IPs and hopefully taking a cue from how Marvel is being successful with their grand experiment, they might want to actually have the new movie be marching in lock step with their current drive with the setting.

Maybe they will have a Autobot Civil War? In the third movie the autobots were responsible for destroying Cybertron after all, there has to be quite a few Transformers pissed at that one.
I don't set an example for others. I make examples of them.
