"Assault Group" strongly implies combat deployment, as does the request to maximize bay space over cargo space for unit transport.

Drop Collars is not an issue or he'd have indicated it was in the initial prompt.

Conventional or battle armor infantry, and would you like sticking to dropships with small minis?

Your discretion, and yes, please.

What time period?

My preference is 3067 or later, but whatever works for you.

See I was going to say most of the armor would travel aboard a Jumbo, Mammoth or Mule along with a lot of the support.  Is this a PCS (permanent change of station) or a combat deployment?

If we are going in hot the choices will be a lot different than if I am just moving the troopies around.  Timeframe?  Of course the most important question is where the drop collars are attached and how many?

Combat deployment. The idea is to create a ship group to play in games, most likely where the FWL group(likely plus escorts, but that's for another time) must push through contested space to get to the world in question. Assume drop collars are available as needed, though please don't go the route of swarming with the smallest transports possible.

Proxies okay?  The Seleucus is a beauty of an infantry assault dropped and is... reasonably visually similar to Broadswords.

I guess so, sure. All else fails, I keep meaning to push for the Seleucus and other 3145 gems in a Fan Funding round. This will give me more motivation. :)

Has anyone got a canon paintscheme for Juggernaut, regiment in the Stewart Dragoons? Or do I just go with grey & red? Thinking of doing an SL-era battalion, for some reason.

As near as I can tell, all the Stewart Dragoons regiments use the same Red/Grey scheme. It's a formation made up entirely of "named" regiments, rather then "xth Stewart Dragoons"

So I'm trying to build a small Marik Militia force, roughly two lances, with possibly a tank lance. So far, I've got an Unseen Marauder mostly finished, want it as the command ride.

The wrinkle is, this MAD isn't a Battletech mini, it's a Macross gashapon, big enough that it scales well alongside clicky minis. And while I know that hardly anything ever truly goes extinct in Battletech(especially the Classics), it still feels weird to imagine a regiment that would have a Marauder that's from the early 3050s at best fighting alongside the ultramodern stuff that most click figures represent. Any suggestions on click mechs I could look for that represent older machines, more appropriate companions for my MAD?

I don't want to proxy, and the usual stuff about absolutely no customs, of course.

Thanks for any ideas!

Well, there are some that spring to mind - the Phoenix Hawk & Locust. So what if they're reseen - I just riff along with Cazaril's concept that the Unseen, Reseen, and Classics all exist side by side. If that is a problem, then don't use them. I imagine the DA Centurion may also be out of scope then. How do you feel about the DA Battlemaster?

The Zeus - remove the "X" fins, no problems - and Osiris spring to mind. The DA Hatchetman can be accurised to look like the original - let me know if you want me to dig up pics. With a lot more work, the DA Hatchetman can be made into an Axman, but non-trivial.

Out of the DA scope, but there may be gashapon Valkyries or Armoured Valkyries which would go with it.

....I actually forgot the PP Locust I already also have for this. :-[ But yeah, Phoenix Hawks and Griffins I already had in mind, was just wondering about any other ideas people might have.

Any time where you think it'd be reasonable to find a 3050s Marauder still operating in a decent Marik Militia regiment.

Why couldn't it be the bosses family ride that's been lovingly maintained and upgraded with modern tech while keeping the Classic looks? Just choose an appropriate record sheet to use for it.

Record sheet will be MAD-3R, MAD-5D, or MAD-5M on rare occasions. No others. It's not that I have anything against the PP variants, but the FWL doesn't get any with the dorsal gun, and it just feels wrong to run an Unseen Marauder without making use of that gun.

Although I know I'm way behind the curve on this, I just realized that the FWL Marauder -9M2 is basically a Warhammer variant, while their Warhammer -8M is basically a Marauder. They switched the 'Mechs around, and I never even noticed it.

That is all.

Ain't no party like the FWL party because the FWL party don't stop  8)

All kidding aside, I've decided to join these here forums, and this is my house of choice. I got x4 of the starter boxes and got in on the kickstarter, this is the game I've played the longest since my childhood, but I've been dormant for a few years. I'm definitely excited to get back into things.

Any recommendations on paint specs for Marik? I'm not sure if I want to make my own unit or not, but I do know I've got lots of Wolverines, Thunderbolts, and Awesomes, meaning that I should make at least one last while I wait for March, lol.

Also, I dislike the colour purple, which has often led to a dark path of not being able to commit to a scheme for these guys. Ironic, that my favourite house by far is the FWL, but I dislike their core colour, more than any other colour. :|

ignoring the heresy re: purple... Oriente uses a lot of green.  Regulus uses brown. Andurien dies in fire.  Plenty of color options.

Andurien dies in fire.

So you're saying if I ever make wreckage models for destroyed mechs, they should all by default be in the traditional colour scheme for Andurien? XD

Those look great for normal-scale Battletech, but seen pretty small for clicky-scale stuff.

And then fixed up and painted white and purple (and some green).

The Defenders of Andurien were destroyed in the 3010s during the Marik Civil War and their remains used to build the new Free Worlds Legionnaires..I think they just slapped some purple on there.

I really, really wish they'd not disbanded the league after the "Jihad" event. One of the worst things about Dark Age for me was almost no FWL existing in any way. I also liked *actual* House Marik, and not the clone/copy Thomas Marik. Killing off the house shortly after reunifying the League and giving it over to the posers was equally irritating. :|

But, I'm a Succession War guy for the most part. I don't like much of anything they did with Battletech after Tukayyid.

There has always been a Free Worlds League.  After the Jihad, it was just a little more Free and a little less League.  3150 it’s more balanced again.  A recognized League, but barely.
