Had a recent game --- and 4 of these pulled down a heavy mech......
We had a battle, similar to the Star Wars, Battle of Hoth.... as in, 8000 BV2 of attackers coming in on a base with 2400 BV of defenders, but the defenders only had to buy time.... while evacuations were going on.
The attacking player chose an all mech force, and while he did finally breach the base.... all of the evacuation trucks, along with 1600 BV2 of the defenders managed to get off the map.
The play area was 4 by 6 feet, and the base was between the 3 and 4 foot area... but had to retreat of of their edge of the map. They had 32 trucks to get out.... could only send a d3+1 per turn, and the trucks were 4/6 movement. Plus, they had to go up hill for most of the trip off board, only hitting level area in the last 8 inches.... which slowed them down.
The defending player was very smart with deployment, using infantry, light vehicles and fast strike units to good effect.... and while the attacker was an experienced player... he had chosen primarily heavy, and slow medium mechs. Plus, the two players sharing his forces would not work together, while the 3 players on the other side were very supportive. Overall, though, the surprise of 4 small, 5 ton, vehicles pulling down an Avatar G, did kind of set the tone for the battle.
This battle also gave us the chance to try out some new trailer ideas, and also field a couple of "weapon carriers" - which I will post the stats to, later.
Has anyone else tried any light vehicles, like these?
