2024 Q1 Intel Update for MWO
« on: 16 January 2024, 20:54:23 »
So .....were getting update and more weapons.

January
Aside the Jenner & Jenner IICs being the freebee Mech, the Victor is coming too as Legend.

The Victor "Li Dok To" Legendary Mech &

The Executioner "Sovereign" Legendary Mech

February
Shields are becoming bigger deal....essentially the Black Knight / Red Reaper II is going be hero mech...(I'm not sure I like shield...never mind having the Red Reaper being shield maiden.)

In March
Inner Sphere weapons:
    - Light AC/2 and AC/5: A modified version of the Autocannon that sacrifices cooldown and range for a lighter weight.
(I guess this to keep it from obsoleting the regular ACs)
    - Silver Bullet Gauss Rifle: A modified gauss rifle that fires its shells in a spread pattern with a rapid cooldown.
(Answer to the Clan HAGs?)
    - Magshot Gauss Rifle: A much smaller gauss rifle designed for targeting smaller opponents.
(Machine Guns get obsoleted??)
    - Thunderbolt Missile 5, 10, 15, 20: A medium range, lock on, high payload missile system.
(Wait??? Lock-on?  That will keep it from being as good.  I'm curious how AMS going handle this)

Clan weapons:
    - Proto AC/2, AC4, and AC/8: Similar to IS LACs, a modified Autocannon with increased weight savings, longer cooldown, and shorter range.
    - AP Gauss Rifle: A much smaller gauss rifle designed for targeting smaller opponents.
    - Beam Laser: A variation of the X-Pulse laser, this large class laser gives a continuous beam output.
    - Plasma Cannon: A lighter version of the Clan ER PPC, this weapon deals a slight amount of heat damage along with regular damage.
(ahhh....so essentially Plasma Rifle)

The beam laser and plasma cannon sound like homage weapons to MekTek's MW4 expansion and MechAssault, respectively.

The plasma cannon is a canon weapon. I don’t know that MekTek came up with it first, but it does have official tabletop rules.

The beam laser is new. Sarna doesn’t have anything to say about that one.

Plasma cannon being treated like the Plasma Rifle. Is the thing that bothers me little, and the Inner Sphere doesn't get anything

Not this one.  It's currently being described as a Clan light PPC.

I have to say, I am a bit miffed: they bring the Red Reaper to MWO and I find out by accident.
I am also happy to see my baby in MWO (even though they are redesigning it), but still...

I've seen it in the wild with a decorative sword.  I am not fan of non-functional things...shield functional but it's way too big to me.

Hmmm I just through something (i've not tooled around with it.)  Currently the shield isn't on MW5 yet.   Given melee weapons ARE, has anyone heard of any word about adding the shields to game?  Then you'd get fully functional Reaper, I'm not sure a mod would be possible with shield.

I like the Red Reaper II. It's a fun brawler. My partner was mildly annoyed at the lack of quirks besides armor, though, but he did something with it he seemed to like; a twin B-laser build. I kept mine stock, seems to do just fine.

I noticed that the shield arm doesn't appear to actuate laterally with the other arm. Never saw that happen before in MWO, didn't know they could do that. Pretty neat trick, honestly.

And just like Onyx before it, it has some nice art on the shield that changes with the pattern you use. The Rasalhague pattern is my favorite; seems to have a variation on the First Tyr's insignia on the shield.

I was re-reading the article, the Proto Autocannons don't sound like their going be very good.  "medium range" "long cool down".   If you have a skill (aka Design Quirk) it could fix it, but not sure.

MAP ADJUSTMENTS
RIVER CITY

Domination Circle moved and Radius increased to 600m
    South spawns adjusted

STORE UPDATES

Fixed hero MC prices for Crael and Bolt (we won’t be retroactively changing any purchases or taking away MC for players who bought these at a discount)
Released Longbow for MC (Spitfire is a Legend and will release at a later date for MC)
Released Blight and Gorewing for MC

BUG FIXES

Fixed a bug where Hashké, Abaddon, Warlord, and Kasai show as different mechs in their skill trees and could load other builds of their chassis variants
Fixed a bug with the Stone Rhino where decals would shift after you placed them on the mech (we plan on expanding this fix to the Longbow in the future)
Fixed new weapon appearances on multiple mechs where they would call inconsistent geometry. We will continue to work on these bugs as they arise, though players can still use the weapons the same if the weapons do call incorrect barrels.

CLAN BEAM LASER

Heat scale (ghost heat) mechanics now function properly and can no longer be circumvented by a delayed firing pattern. The penalty no longer applies as a heat spike and generated heat per seconds penalty is applied properly.

MAGSHOT AND AP GAUSS RIFLE AMMO

Magshot and AP Gauss ammo no longer cause internal damage if they are destroyed causing an ammo explosion event

SKILL TREE/MAGAZINE CAPACITY

Magazine capacity nodes now give a +4 bonus to PAC/8 (instead of +2) equivalent to two extra shots per node.
