Oh the humanity...
All those dice cut down before they could be properly used/sold...

Woa..  That's one massive fireball!!

Woa..  That's one massive fireball!!

Greater than a maximized intensified empowered fireball from a 20th level wizard (or even a 29th level one like Elminster if I recall my Forgotten Realms third edition stats correctly).

Or it was just someone trying to make all their dice rolls for a Shadowrun game in one go.

One go? That's just a 1st edition Shadowrun decker making their first roll of a hack ...

I wonder what the average die roll of the dice in that crash?

quick estimate based on the figures in the article would be 3.5 or as they pair of, 7.

Reminds me of the old pre-d20 Star Wars game.  Tons of d6's.

With a sample size that large, it would be astronomically unlikely to end up with a mean average of anything else.

West End  made the pre-D20 Shadowrun and Star Wars games.  I still have majority of the books for both.

West End Games never made a D6-adaption for Shadowrun. Those available are fanmade. :)

Every edition of Shadowrun I've seen used d6s, so I'm not sure why it would even need a "d6" conversion...

I don't want to even think about the kind of numbers a six-dimensional die rolls.

I don't want to even think about the kind of numbers a six-dimensional die rolls.

it was scrapped after early testing as rolling critical hits would open the mind of the player to the truth of the universe and plunge them into irrecoverable madness

I don't want to even think about the kind of numbers a six-dimensional die rolls.

They were invented by a researcher who wanted to up their gaming experience with some friends in town.

Eureka!!!!

Everytime I see the maytag commericals I think and some researcher used the sheriff as his AI model

The TV show Eureka, it had a pretty neat premise and was some fun watching.  Basically a DARPA town hidden in N California and the geniuses were always building something on the side to make their lives better but with wacky results- Robotic Dog Show, kid builds a artificial sun for the school science fair, house AIs go bonkers, and more.  One of the things I like is they played with the tropes and the episode names were always playing around.  For instance, they had a time travel mini-story arc towards the end but unlike most of that trope the protagonist did not cause things to revert to the previous timeline but he and the other character that knew would make little remarks that were in jokes.

The picture is of most the cast playing D&D looks like.  Quantum dice would be something a Eureka resident would create . . .

Plus the first couple of seasons were decent, but the last one or two maybe...
They weren't garbage, but they definitely went down in quality.

Interesting ideas, unique cast through out and was pretty much fun.

I actually liked the time-tripping episode and how they treated it.  But yeah, they had a bit of problem with the story arcs since they could not keep doing 'McGuffin of the Week' for too long.
