Is the CGL store down?
« on: 04 December 2019, 02:09:12 »
As the title says: I have been trying to open the CGL store for a few days, now, but I always get a "connection time-out" error.
I tried with different browsers, both from a PC and a 4G Tablet, from two different houses, so it doesn't seem a problem on my side.
The CGL webweb site works fine, but the store seems unreachable.

Can anyone confirm I'm not the only one?

Is there a way to contact them (I know this forum is not strictly linked to them)?

Just tried, I am able to access the Store, as well as view my account and past files and download them.

to see where the issue is, open your DOS COMMAND PROMPT WINDOW and use the following commands:

ping store.catalystgamelabs.com

The IP should show as 23.227.38.32

If the PING gets no response then try this command:

TRACERT store.catalystgamelabs.com

That will then show where there MAY be a break in the packet route.

Here is Mine as an example:

Ok, this is strange!

I asked my friends to try to open the store website, and all those who did have had the same results as me.
My "tracerts" seem to fail poorly the moment the packages try to reach the USA.

On the other hand... it seems to work just fine if I use a proxy service (I can access my account and download my files)!

Last time I bought something was on June, and I had no problems at all.

The most strange thing is that the only part of the CGL website that is blocked is the store.
Anything else works perfectly!

I hope it's just some temporary technical problem, and not some kind of IP-ban (for the store or for my country, Italy).
Meanwhile, I will access my files by proxy... not much else I can do, it seems...

Are you being routed through East Asia, by chance?

Actually, I just tried and I'm correctly able to connect to the store, now, so it seems that whatever was the issue, it has been solved.

Certainly, it wasn't related to East Asia: using a proxy service, I tried many IPs, China, Iraq and Korea (south) included, and it worked fine. It was only when I tried from an Italian IP. Moreover, the same happened to all my friends, with different browsers and internet providers.

Since the issue lasted for at least 10 days, and seemed limited to my country, I suspected that the CGL store might have been somewhat wrongly blacklisted by my local government (there was a big DNS ban wave on video/file sharing websites, on September, here, and I hadn't been visiting the store since June).
Or, maybe, it was just a technical issue, somewhere at a high level of connection between nations.

Anyway, all is well that ends well...

I have the same problem, I try from Italy and I get the same error message.
