Using Marauder Battle Armor - PV/# of minis/math!
« on: 07 February 2018, 14:34:36 »
So, first time using infantry or battle armor for me!

I bought 4 Marauder Battle Armor miniatures -- http://ironwindmetals.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=9768

I assumed that each one of these 4 minis would translate to it's own AS unit card like this one -- http://www.masterunitlist.info/Unit/Card/6525?skill=4 i.e. each mini on it's own base, getting it's own turn, each with 1 Armor and 2 Structure, each doing it's own separate attack, etc. each worth 12 PV for a total of 48 PV all together.

In the meantime I'm reading about squads and points and multiple battle armor units on a single base, etc. Does that single AS unit card worth 12 points that I linked to above actually translate to 4 of these minis as a squad? Do all 4 units stay on the board till the card is exhausted of A and S pips and then they all go away at once? Do I move them all together as if they were in 1 hex even though they take up 4 hexes of space?

Or do I play with each of these miniatures representing a squad or point in spirit?

If each 12 point card translates to 4 or 5 actual battle armor do I multiply the damage based on the number of battle armor in the unit? Do I subtract them as each is destroyed and change the stats as the unit is diminished in size or do these stats represent the group and stay the same till the unit is destroyed? (in this case 3 pips of health)

Ugh, I'm hoping it's simple like I originally assumed where each of these minis translates to it's own stat card just like a mech.

The stat card represents a full squad. There is no multiplying or subtracting needed, the damage and armor/structure is for all the troopers in the squad combined.

On the table, this unit would be represented by a single base. Wether that base has one BA mini or 4-6 is entirely your choice. Those MADs are big, it may not be practical to put them all in a single base. Above all, remember that the number of pewter suits on the base has exactly zero effect on the game stats or how many in-universe troopers that base is meant to represent.

Rgr that, so even though I've got one Marauder mini on a base (almost as big as a mech!) I know that "technically" it's considered 4 or 5 individual suits of armor and maps to a single unit card for 12 points.

As the unit takes damage I don't need to subtract or scale anything up or down... it just takes 1 A and 2 S of damage and is off the board and has the same stats from start to finish right?

So although we say it's 4 or 5 battle armor on a hex we don't actually do the math per suit of armor, we just treat it as one entity, right?

Right on all counts! 8)

And conventional infantry work exactly the same way. :)
