Battletroops! vehicle charge-attack

No mention of Vehicle physical attacks are mentioned in the book....
Could it be assumed that any infantryman standing in the path of the vehicle where the "black" region of the vehicle template would cross, count as being potentially run-over?
Must a vehicle declare that it is making a physical attack against the infantry, and thus not be eligible for making weapon-attacks?

The goal, was to ram into the building, crush those in the way, and basically side-swipe the length of the wall smearing the unfortunate infantry down the length...
At this position, the vehicle had 6 MP remaining, sufficient for it to collide into the building, OR, to make a turn and drive parallel to it, running over all of the infantry.

  • Would the vehicle have stopped movement (due to declaring a physical attack) once the "Black area" of the front-left corner came in contact with trooper #4?
  • A) If question1 is yes, then troopers 1-3 would not have had to move, while facing a vehicle moving at ~35kph+ and only 5m away.
  • B)If question1 is no, then the collision into the building would occur. IF colliding and "stopping" at this position, would trooper #1 not have taken any damage since the black area doesn't actually contact them?
  • If Charging, would the vehicle turrets / weapons still be eligible to set their firing arcs and engage targets per normal?

The collision-event occurred when Side A moved its first unit (the vehicle) and Side B had not yet moved, thus had not the chance to set up firing arcs.


  • Would Side B have NOT been able to fire at the vehicle despite having had clear LOS to it barreling down on them?
  • Assuming the infantry DID have LOS and COULD shoot (regardless of firing arcs previously being set), because (per Battletroops p.12) "Combat is resolved immediately, with all damage taking effect before the target completes movement", would any motive hits immediately reduce the distance it could travel, and thus forcing it to stop short of its charge-attack?
  • continued) If a vehicle were to choose 'flank' speed and move a distance further than 1/2 of its movement before taking a motive hit that would reduce it below 1/2 of its total movement, would its movement immediately end? Or would it continue to coast through the remainder of it's prior defined accelerated movement?


We eventually resolved by factoring the acceleration of the vehicle (APC 4/6 TW movement, 20/30 'dots' Bt) before it took motive hits after 20 dots of acceleration (~40kph), with just enough remaining dots to make a turn and initiate the charge into the building, thus running over the 4 troopers (only one who failed the dodge roll, per Battletroops p.29).[/list]

I'm afraid like five guys ever played Battletroops, and I don't think any of them are on the rules team.  I'll ask, but I wouldn't expect much, I'm afraid.
