It's a water tanker, as dunebuggy, no-less, with a L-AMS: Not much mystery to it. :-\

It lets the characters have a wet t-shirt (or foam) party while providing the laser light show.

You may need to sacrifice half a ton or even a full ton of water tankage to represent the speakers and music system.  Or bring the mass up to 40 tons

With the advent of the Second Star League, New Earth Trading Co. saw an opportunity to increase margins by revising old standards with expensive accessories, the usefulness of which where immaterial; As long as there where a “more” the sales staff could point to, there was a “more” to be charged.

It was quite by accident the Tanker Model No.4  became a demanded item in several disquieted worlds:  Technicron Manufacturing of Savannah had been sniffing around for a partner to underwrite an expansion of its’ fusion engine line, and NETC saw a need in ‘defendable water distribution.”

Management was leery of the #4 being a nether-fair-nor-foul item: Fully ruggedized for combat-zone deployments, yet properly unarmed, it was an open question how much fire it would draw with only a Laser-AMS in a turret.

The No.4 is expected to only take one SRM barrage before running from an immediate threat.

Deep sand dwellers would seem to be the most important market to address: Whom else needs water delivered, repeatedly, instead of a manicapul feed?

Notable pilot: Recently, a Tanker #4-class was seen in bone white cameo on the planet Where are we?. Trailing an Oppie, also in bone white. Speculations is it was extra cargo carrying for a WoB mission. No known specs or other info shown. Later in the same region, a large populace was found dead, their water supply diseased. At this time it is unknown if this tanker was involved. A query is sought on the matter.

Frodo Infantry Platform exists at the intersection of standardization and
marketing.

Shoe-horning in a Nissan 125 into a 20-ton APC makes more sense to a
logisticians then an engineer, but the former often trumps in the eyes of
MBAs, even if a spat of fires in the engine compartment led to crippling
hardware add-ons. This, in addition to how restricted access to the drive-train
has become, in a vehicle desperate to conserve passenger compartment space for
the massive backpacks needed to maintain directed energy weaponry in the
field.



==Capabilities:==
Not blazing fast, nor heavily armored, the Frodo can see it's charges safely
through shady terrain, much more quickly than they could otherwise on
power-armor jumpjet or foot, and any such ambush as may have been set-up by
indigs of even immoderate means.

Furthermore: With a bare minimum of hand-holding, and the investment of an
extra 15 minutes, two Frodos will stack upon one another within a single
DropShip bay.
