PPC Recipe
« on: 15 May 2013, 04:45:22 »
I seem to vaguely (vaguely, 10x vaguely) recall there being a printed recepie for the PPC cocktail, along with different versions for each state. Does anyone know where I could find it?

Thanks in advance

Light PPC
 1 shot blue curaco
 1-2 shots citrus vodka
 1 shot clear cuervo tequilla

in an old fashoned glass put 3 ice cubes and your alcohol then fill the
rest of the glass with the 7-Up
[NOTE: This is a less-powerful version of the "official" PPC]

=================
PPC
 4 shots everclear
1 shot of: peppermint schnapps (steiner)
            sake (kurita)
            ouzo (marik)
            plum wine (liao)

Are you sure on that PPC recipe ?
I seem to recall it being a 2+2 Ratio for the House Variants, not 4+1

I'm thinking its from the Blackthorns first book ?
Not 100% sure on that, maybe it was a BT Mag story.

Ah yes, that is it, I knew it was Solaris but forgot about Xiang's time there,  the only thing I could think of was when Rose was there.  It seemed like it was an older reference than that but then again, I've not read a BT novel in over a decade so I figured anything is possible.

fan creation. the basic recipe apparently lends itself to lots of variation by fans.

Quote
I seem to recall it being a 2+2 Ratio for the House Variants, not 4+1
nope. 4 shots of flavorless alcohol (said to be grain alcohol), with one shot of a flavoring type;
peppermint schnapps (steiner)
sake (kurita) (or aviation fuel, it's joked.. given that later books have the combine use ethanol based fuels..  ::) )
ouzo (marik)
plum wine (liao)
bourbon (davion)
tequila (capellan march)

i suspect there are fan versions of the recipe out there with variations for all the minor factions too.

lots of fans double up the amount of the flavoring type.. the book doesn't say the exact proportions but implies just one shot of the stuff. (see pg.111 in Warrior: En Garde)

I've done the Davion PPC and the Steiner PPC ... they are absolutely 4:1.
and that's plenty to put me on my -er- FACE real quick.
that's EACH nearly 8 fluid ounces of liquor, people.

I've heard some folks substituting Moonshine for Everclear...

VhenRA has the right of it, its 2 shots of flavour, not 1.

I was recalling it purely from memory as 4 shots of everclear as the base 4 shot drink known as the PPC.
What I was mis-remembering is the term "cuts it with",  I was thinking that meant "REPLACE" 2 with 2, keeping it 4 shots.
But, Apparently it means "ADD" 2 to the 4, making it a 6 shot drink.

MW3 also says the Basic 4 shot PPC is also known as the "Periphery-PPC".

Then what do you use for the Capacitor? 7+2? or 6+3? And do you serve this in a 32oz ?  [cheers]

Habanero simple syrup.  Heavy on the habanero, lighter on the sugar.

Right, because clearly anything that's only 2/3rds Everclear is in danger of being too weak a drink  if the other 1/3rd is sake.

And now I have a bunch of house drinks to serve if I ever get my dream 'geek bar' opened.

I am a cocktail geek (among other geekings, which should be a word if it isn't,) and we had a couple of House Cocktails games.  The PPC is designed as a drink to get you into another plane of existence as quickly as possible, and not really advantageous to a game session.  Also, this is a college frat-guy drink, and not really meant for human consumption.  So we all brought our own concoctions, usually variations (or just renaming) of classic, but appropriate, cocktails.  I provided Davion 75's, where the original was in honor of the Canon de 75 field guns of WWI.  2 oz Gin (I use Aviation, which is an American gin, but it works great with Sapphire as well,) 1/2 oz rich simple sugar, the fresh juice of half a lemon, all stirred in a Collins glass and topped with cold dry champagne.

I will post some other House drinks later.  Gotta go by a fish for my daughter.

As we´re actually talking about enjoyable stuff there, not the means to drink yourself in a coma, here´s a version of "Stealthy Capellan".
You need (per glas):
2 tsp Grenadine. Frensh is best. If not availlable, use cherry sirup.
1 Lime - 1tsp lime juice, 1 full slice.
Champaigne, or, if not availlable, Prosecco. Dry or Extra Dry.
1/2 oz of peach brandy
Canned Lychee, 2 full lychees, 1,5 oz of joice
Ice.

Put ice cubes, grenadine, lime juice, lychee juice and peach brandy into a bar shaker, mix well, use wire sieve to drain into champaign flute. Fill up with champaign, stick lime slice and two lychees on a cocktail stick and garnish the drink.
Now, discuss how to further invade the funs and enjoy.

Not to be a jerk, but was that "Fresh" or "French?"  Because I know that Grenadine is originally French, but I also make my own, thus "fresh" works too...

Well, I actually meant "french", since you can still get grenadine made from pomgranate, not substitution stuff based on blackcurrant juice.
If you make grenadine on your own, even better. I like using organic fruits, being able to chose how much sugar to use and there´s really no need for additives like antioxygens.
I like having a small bottle or two around for the occasion to make a lighter kir royal.

I usually use POM as the base, with sugar, French orange flower water and and rose water. Easy to make and tastes fantastic.
