Question about the latest AToW .pdf....
« on: 14 February 2011, 21:53:16 »
Well, by "latest" I mean the latest version I had (third revision since I first purchased the .pdf sometime last summer--sorry I don't have a date for the revision).

Anyway, my question is this: does anyone else have weird formatting issues with the text at the tops and bottoms of nearly every page in the .pdf? If I do a copy/paste into a word processing document, I can see that the text is still there in tact. However, to look at it in its .pdf format, it's just a bunch of jumbled, black blotches.

If this has been a more common problem, and I'm not just possessed of gremlins, was this problem ever resolved, and is there a way I could get a hold of the resolved version? Previous revisions were just fine (fortunately I kept those files, so... no real loss), but given I actually bought the .pdf, and since Catalyst was so kind as to give me all the updates for free, I don't feel too bad asking about this.

Thanks!

Brother Jim

Did you get the pdf from the Battleshop or from Drivethurpg?

I don't know about the Battleshop, but Drivethru gives you 5 downloads per purchase. That number resets each time the pdf is updated.

Honestly, I can't recall, but I'm inclined to say "Battleshop." I recall for sure, however, that I was given 7 downloads for my purchase (and each new revision), instead of five, if that means anything to you.

The latest update I recall was last november.  If you have something older contact the battleshop folks about resetting your token to allow you to download the latest.   they normally have a window after each update where you can download it several times, but I think that's effectively 'closed'.

Next question, what reader software are you using, on what platform?

If using a PC you might give the Foxitsoftware reader a try, I like it better than adobe.

Open the document and check:

File > Properties  Modified 9/1/2010

if it matches then you have the most recent edition I know of.

The copy I have was downloaded november 4, so it's pretty close to what you have.

If I look at the properties from inside the viewer it tells me the following

Author www.catalystgamelabs.com | www.battlecorps.com
Creator: Adobe InDesign CS3 (5.0.4)
Producer: Acrobat Distiller 8.2.0 (Macintosh)

Created 2010-01-27 08:46:49
Modified 2010-11-03 18:21:26

File properties can be altered based on when the file was downloaded copied etc..  the internal pdf properties are a bit less subject to change unless your PDF reader lets you make annotations and you make use of that feature.

Thanks for all the replies, lads. Sorry I haven't been very responsive of late.

Anyway, I'm on a Mac, using OSX (leopard, I think...).

I checked the date on the download, and it was from early November of last year, so it seems to be the one you're referring to, Tempus.

I guess I'll just live with it. :)

Almost sounds like a fonts issue. Everything's current on your system?
