As the question states. 3085, including the supplement and ONN, gave the Clans a lot of toys that partially redress some diversity issues compared to the Inner Sphere. Some of these have been talked about in-depth. Some of them almost seem overlooked.

So - which one(s) do you like, and why? Which ones are the duds?

if i could vote for 2 i would, but the ironhold was my first love from 3085, it looks great, i think the fluff is really cool, and it actually is a pretty good assault BA, particularly for its mobility

Elemental fire, fire resistant armour and an AP gauss and still can do anti-mech attacks which rates it over the Thunderbird which comes second.

This Thread has been done allready,at least the BA discustion.Not to mention half of your list is PRE-85',,,,,ohh yeah the "Fire" suits a Salamander amde by Clan GS,,as for the JF Iornhold(Fire) suit,I think that one is 85' but I dont have that TRO yet.

No, that list encompasses all new suits featured in 3085, either in the TRO proper, the Supplement, or the "Old is the new New" section. I can confirm this because I do have the relevant TROs and RS.

One thing that has never been discussed and that I am continually surprised at is how the upgraded Gnome and Golem suits seem to not have made much of a splash.

Some suits were embraced by curtain clans,I know the Horses used the "Gnome?" suits to good effect in the early 60's fightin' the GB's,,,,but it seems each clan uses what "Fit's" their Military Doctorin.

In the case of the Golem, I suspect people's minds go first to the rather abysmal standard version with its Bearhunters. The Gnome as a whole is tainted by that, much as the Charger has been unable to cast off the taint of the -1A1.

I was expecting a bit more from the Thunderbird given the hype surrounding it, but the Ironhold is the first time in a long time Clan BA has done something the Inner Sphere cannot match.

The Ironhold all the way. Only thing that comes close is the... fire Ironhold, really. Followed by the Fire Elemental, I suppose.

Had to go with the Ironhold. It's just a beast and performs beautifully in the assault armor defense role. The thought of loading them in a Ku/Turhan II just makes it more terrifying.

I really wanted to say Thunderbird. It's a solid suit and a welcome addition to the Cat forces but the lack of anti-battle mech attacks just holds it back. It excels at anti-BA/infantry and ranged attack against harder targets, but I just wish it could knee-cap.

The Warg is really cool, but I had to go with the Ironhold (Fire). Fireproof armor is huge, and 4 AP Gauss? Yes, thank you.

I wanted to go with the Warg, but the necessity of some kind of transport vehicle kills it for me, so I picked the AP Gauss Elemental.

I really do not know why I like the Warg. Maybe it is the name or the look of the battle armor with all those weapons.

Fire Elemental. With all the plasma-throwing and inferno going around, this is the definitive upgrade for the meterstick for which every other BA is measured against.

I must ask though. Why exactly did CNC bother with a "Clan Battle Armor" for a trooper unit which is considered inferior to the previous trooper unit? Whats the difference between the CBA and the Elemental that makes the Elemental so prized and harder to produce in the Jihad?

We dont know the exact problem, but there's something involved in the production of the Elemental that makes it hard for the Cats to manufacture. This is why the Cats have been scrambling to make a replacement they can produce using just IS materials. Could be missing infrastructure vital to its manufacture, could be a magic allow. They havent detailed it. *shrug*

Could be Harjel- Clan BAs base suit is heavier than the I.S, but gain the benefit of Harjel. I thought the Nova Cats were still "Clan" base, but if they're I.S that could be the reason right there.

Well, they do have a deal with the Sharks that allows them to get enough Harjel for their industry. I hope Elemental production is restored to every Clan besides the Bears and Falcons. Its just wrong for such an iconic unit to go missing from most Toumans.

Yeah, it's not the HarJel. We have a good deal with the Diamond Sharks to supply it. Part of the deal that involved them getting Itabaiana if I remember right.

It started off as Santin West wanting an improved Elemental suit, then as production of these suits increased and the supply of Elemental suits decreased the Elemental suits became restricted to the higher ranking warriors.

You may be right. It's just strange - arguably the Golem (Support) is the most powerful BA in existence. With its brutally powerful missile launcher and relatively deep ammo bin coupled with the base Golem's excellent defensive abilities as well as respectable ground speed, that thing is quite the terror...

Elementals have detachable missile racks and modular weapon mounts, as well as a anti infantry weapon mount.

They are simply more sophisticated suits than the relatively fixed CBAs. Whether the CBA is a superior suit or not is similar to the discussion between whether omnimech or standard mechs are better. Omnimechs ARE superior, but that doesn't always translate into superior combat capability in specific situations.

So what do you think about the "upgraded omni" Elemental suits, Jellico?

About the Clan Medium - at first glance, it always looked like an Elemental that traded 1 pt of armour for 1 extra jump movement, not a bad trade, per se. And its missiles were slightly more flexible.

Of course, that decreased armour hurt. A lot. But arguably, the Wolf Rache upgrade is superior to all others. Barring that "omni" detail, of course!

The CBA can fire 4 missiles at once compared to the Elemental. That's a bit more of an advantage then being 'slightly more flexible' IMO :D

The 3075 battle armor record sheets will be included when the RS3075 pdf is updated. Recent tweets seem to indicate that project is high up on the current que. [rockon]
