final started initial D on chapter 239 now
damn i had not read that one in 8 years or so...is the run finished?
-
Next on my pile is Girls & Panzer 3, The Sacred Blacksmith 7, and Monster Musume 6.
-
I've read Sekire update, aside from the some fan service the story and action pretty good.
I started on Maga Tsuki, which is like mix of Ramna 1/2 and Oh My Goddess with slapstick.
-
Working through Assassination Classroom right now, after the anime. Good stuff, funny and still creepy and rather interesting as to the mysteries. The pacing of the subtle and not-so-subtle hints we've gotten is quite good and leaves me wanting more.

Girl's of the Wilds
Arpeggio of Blue Steel
And are we including Light Novels in this thread or not?

Girl's of the Wilds

Latest manga chapter of Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There seems to be wrap up of the second novel. Among many things in over 50-pages long chapter, Hardy's apostle introduces herself (http://a.mhcdn.net/store/manga/11854/046.0/compressed/g007.jpg?v=1430701322), JSDF comes to the rescue (http://a.mhcdn.net/store/manga/11854/046.0/compressed/g024.jpg?v=1430701322), dark elves comically miss the point (http://a.mhcdn.net/store/manga/11854/046.0/compressed/g029.jpg?v=1430701322), Itami is a big damn hero (http://a.mhcdn.net/store/manga/11854/046.0/compressed/g041.jpg?v=1430701322), and Rory shows more of her dere-side (http://a.mhcdn.net/store/manga/11854/046.0/compressed/g048.jpg?v=1430701322). Excellent chapter all around! O0

I loved it when Itami shouted "RUN!" ;D

Just read the first chapter of Full Metal Panic! Another. It's not bad, it's new characters and beginning.
I wonder if it will make it and becoming a new anime series for the franchise.
Female lead has very interesting full name, Adelina Aleksandrovna Kerenskaya. Middle and last name look familiar?

Well, considering BT's own Kerensky was a historical reference as well, not too surprised. Like naming a character Adeline Georgette Washington.

Found Area 88 online so I'm now reading that. I always find the older stuff more interesting than most.

Looks like the manga version of "Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?" made it on the New York Times best selling Manga list. It went from 6 to number 3 in it's second week sale of first volume! I've been watching the show, has anyone touched the manga yet?

I found fan translations of the manga before I knew anything about the anime. In first couple chapters main characters DO NOT brush their teeth...

Chinese (Manhua), actually. I'm pretty sure it's being animated by a Chinese company as well, but it's getting a Japanese dub starring Kana Hanazawa. From the previews I've seen, the art looks good but the animation is rather sparse. Still, the story is intriguing. I'd be more than willing to give it a shot.

I'm so dumb, i forgot it was Chinese. The manga stop updating, so it's been awhile since I've read it. Hopefully there not having problems, the advertising poster for it says July 23rd, but the LiveChart says it's in August 13th now.

They are both good, but I am preferring the manga because the MC can actually fight in the manga. ;D

I've got started with MARINE CORPS YUMI. TVtropes says manuscript was provided by former marine. But how accurately did mangaka get it done? Any marines in this forum who can tell?
[edit]
This in commentary: (http://www.mcyumi.com/manga/marine-corps-yumi-21/#.Vci-tPntlBc)
Senior Drill Instructor Staff Sergeant Regina Derringer is actually based off of my Senior Drill Instructor! When I introduced this webcomic to her, she started reading it, too! One fan acquired. :)
[edit2]
ZOMG! This page cracked me up! :D (http://www.mcyumi.com/manga/marine-corps-yumi-30/#.VcjI6fntlBc)

She passed away from cancer though :( (last month in July)
-
the former Marine (Ana Moreno) co-wrote it with the mangaka one of the top military mangaka, she worked as a translator in the Core and since in the Manga & Anime industry, she was a core brat of part Japanese ancestry born and raised in Okinawan.
she released the first 78 parts in English Hear (http://www.mcyumi.com/), 122 parts are out in Japanese.

And she died to cancer. Last update on that site was 9th of July, over month ago. When can we expect next update?
-
unsure she was still working on translations from her hospital bed, more pages may be ready, but are likely amoung her personal effects, so don't know if let alone when they will be posted.
-
According to TVtropes: (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manga/MarineCorpsYumi)
English translation will be continued by Dan Kanemitsu.
Looking forward to that. Hopefully sooner than later...

Currently reading through the first volume of Trigun Maximum Omnibus, so far I've enjoyed reading through it. Seems to focus more on character development than the anime adaptation which focuses more on the story
-
I read all 16 chapters of Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan (or Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry) that I could find. What kept me going on it is that it seems it would be both very much a fan service romp and a Nisekoi-ish harem romance, but it really isn't, except on the surface. It keeps tapping those stereotypes but winds up veering away. To explain: if the boy walks in on the girl changing there is the typical initial emotional explosion and embarrassment, but then they get over it, realize its an accident and act more like a normal people. Also, when expressing affection there is the initial embarrassment but then they get passed it and hug/kiss/hold hands.
As long as they can still do that I'll keep reading.

When she passed, it was stated by the artist that they'd worked ahead a long ways so Yumi's story will be told in full. It'll still continue in both languages, with a different English translator standing in.

I looked at it, just few first pages. It's different from the usual. But doesn't compare to The Fruit of Grisaia: guy walks in to his own room, finds nearly naked girl (changing her clothes), and says (in fan translation): "Who on Earth invited a stripper to my room? It's not my birthday today"

dug out complete set of outlanders all 33 tpb and 2 specials JOY! mrs and the kids are gone all day tomorrow

Nothing like a reading binge! I once read a new (and very thick) book from morning to wee hours in the morning >.>
-
I saw the OVAs first, but now I've found Horimiya and I've been steadily reading it. Up to chapter 39 now. Better than your usual high school romance/comedy, but I guess that might not be saying too much. ;)
I was liking the male MC, but in the last few chapters he's gone downhill for me. I hope it'll change soon.
-
You know, i noticed. Some of the Mangas that have gotten animes produced sometimes stop production shortly after. Is that a thing or a coincidence?
-
no a lot of companies get their backing pulled from under them
that is why you get alot of OVA dragon half is a good example made 2 episodes never aired ended up on vhs was good but never got backing and alot of the OVA end up being nothing more than concept that get made but never get completion due to either studios going out of business or backers and sponsors pulling out.
also authors as standard practice do not get to control the animated work most of the time there are exceptions but they are rare
-
a lot of writers also keep up with a title to pay the bills, when they get that hit of TV Money they back-burner projects that are of less interest than the next concept they want to explore since the bills are less of a concern, and the new concept takes over their working life.

Sadly, that makes sense. Personally, if its a great manga. He/she pulls out because they (temporarily maybe) made it big. I personally wouldn't want to welcome them back if their going tease readers in a good story arc and do it again later.
I know it's tough life, but i like whole stories, not half ones.

I know it's tough life, but i like whole stories, not half ones.
Then buy only whole stories that have already been completed and rated. Buy Chrono Crusade which has been completed already and ignore Berserk which is still ongoing.

Aoki Hagane No Arpeggio has come out yet again with another volumes. Back with main heroes still.
Hyuuga is captured by a destroyer in previous issue, now the crew dealing with trying to move on and intercept Kongo. I suspect that their a third party running around inside the fleet doing their own agenda. Everyone see signs of Yamato finally showing up for the party, but not this chapter. Build up something...

Monster Musume and Re:Monster have also got new chapter each at end of the last month. Some action in both of them.
-
Speaking of Monster Musume, i discovered for myself that Monster Musume has a "parallel" universe i guess.
The folks made it also made a manga called 12 Beast. This still has monster "people" in it and art very similar to Monster Musume. Its theme is more action/comedy/fantasy/scifi version of Monster Musume with lead character drawn similar to "Darling".
I've only read first volume, but it's not too bad.
Plot: Apparently, a young woman who turn out to be a Harpy, manages to goto the Earth to retrieve main character who a ninja dojo trained video gamer. (This version of Harpy's race by the way makes a semi-cameo in Monster Musume during Darling's date with Ms Smith). He taken to "Live Earth" to help save her people from attacks by mecha like creatures called Giga. A empire trying to subjugate the planet with high-tech, while rest world is mostly fantasy level tech and touch of Earth tech.
Monster girls in the manga are little but not too different from Monster Musume. Having read the former, it made reading 12 Beast more interesting to me. To me, it seems like their using Monster Musume's array of races and world setup gave it non-Romentic-Comedy flare to it and not quite as ecchi. It's nothing write home about, its nice read so far. Lastly, I won't call it a Harem thing either, though looks like it at first. None one is in love with anyone.
-
So far it look like it's about comradeship :D. Or simply put; the power of friendship!
-
So who's following T-REX na Kanojo (roughly: "She's a T-Rex")?
The type of adorable in this manga is sooo good. And that childhood friend of her is just too funny.

So this time it is monster girls based on dinosaurs. That makes for a change to monster girls from mythology, religions, costumes and whatnot...

No Harem though and the 'dinosaur girls' have been out in open from beginning in the setting. The male MC is a little more aggressive romantically while the female MC is a bit...simple but comes off as a tsundere.

Been reading through DBZ, and rereading some of Junji Ito's works.
-
I'm enjoying Ooku (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%8Coku:_The_Inner_Chambers), where a plague goes around and kills off 3/4 of Jana's men. How does the society change as a result, how are people named, what happens when a samurai family is poor but has a son, etc. Have books 1-9, book 12 has come out in Japanese, but Book #11 is expected to release in English this November, so I am waiting for all 3 to get the group.
-
Angel Densetsu had finally got around reading it after having it bouncing about for 2 years
funny touching and bit preachy
manga is about a boy who has the most evil looking face that makes every one think he is the worst sort of delinquent...but in reality the boy is the sweetest most kind individual that would not hurt a fly...
needles to say lots of misunderstandings occur
-
I found a manga called Mushoku Tensei - Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu , it's slow to update but it's fun to read.
It's about man who is reborn in magical worlds, really reborn. However, it retains his wisdom from when he was alive in Earth just like us. He had issues, was shuttin but died saving someone else. Manga is bad on novel, but despite it being little Ecchi, its funny and pretty well done for what is.
-

Main character is boy, he has alot friends who are girls. He roughly 8 years old boy body wise, 34 years old mentally. There elves, cat girls, etc, and so on who are considered to be (demons). He learning magic and trying make himself a better person in second chance in life. This isn't slice of life thing, this is world has blood and gore, just smart enough to get by. He's currently staying with his richy uncle's home, teaching his 10 year old female cousin how to read and know start to do magic.

Hey everyone.
For those who like fantasy and comedy, i came across manga called, Dungeon Meshi
Oddy entertaining story about a guy who looses is sister to monster, is determined to save her before she get digested. Normally, I'm 110% not into food mangas, but this one is pretty good.

Started re-reading Negima while waiting for the next volume of UQ Holder. Probably one of my favourite series, though the ending could have been a lot better.

I'm big fan of the series too. Bough all the slim manga verses the repackaged omni bundles.
UQ Holder going well, though it feels like it's hit rut in this training time their doing.

-
Is manga better than anime?
at least in my case yes
-
To me the manga was better for Negima, it had been in the position of being popular enough for the publishers want promote more than once with anime. There been at least two animes done of it, frankly second one more a launch pad for second part of Negima's manga than continuing the anime. The anime was self-contained story, especially near the end of it.
Manga kept going on, from what i've read at burn of the author who had wanted to do it differently. He's doing it now with UQ Holder, but it's turning into something else now. It went off being a non-harem / non-romcom story but action / adventure and morphing into scifi/drama with romancing in the background.
-
I've discovered a interesting manga called Youkai Shoujo - Monsuga. It's based around boy who turns out to have a gift see and talk to supernatural. He meets various Japanese supernatural / demons/ ghosts/ spiritually powerful humans as time goes by.
Its setup not unlike typical harem except its has purpose, sort of home for wandering Youkai (demons) who aren't hostile to humans. At first i thought this was going be not unlike Monster Musume, but it's not. It serious, with light & modest a mount of fan service moment. Not a romantic comedy, but its super natural adventure/light-mystery sort of deal. I don't think it's been imported to the US, but certainly interesting read so far.
-
Just finished Volume 6 of Youko x Boku SS...that was freaking sad! ;_;
-
Having never read it, i've begun to read Hayate the Combat Butler. I actually not seen the anime either except the very last series they put out with the hand watch, but i had no clue. Manga much better, i can see why it spawned anime series or two.
A new one i started was also Chain Chronicles, which is wizard who trying be warrior. Its actually not corny as it sounds.
-
Er does anyone know what happened to Youko x Boku SS? I just learned the author died :(
-

Oh, you poor soul. Can't Take My Eyes Off You is why Manglobe was the anime studio I disliked the most. First two seasons (from SynergySP, and then JC Staff) were infinitely better, and Hayate is easily one of my favorite manga! Hata's dark humor is hilarious, and the light-touch character drama resonates with me emotionally.

Last volume was No.11. To my knowledge, the story was fully concluded. It was never specified what Fujiwara-sensei's cause of death was beyond a personal illness, but she died at the tender age of 31, leaving her last manga, Katsute Maho Shojo to Aku wa Tekitai Shiteita, unfinished.

I'm going to be ordering Volumes 7 & 8 of Sacred Blacksmith. I enjoy the manga version of that better than the anime, mainly because the female MC is portrayed more believably as a knight.

As far as I understand, Japan has fetish for many things. Like those in Aki Sora, Yosuga no Sora, and Oreimo.

UQ Holder is up to Chapter 103, This part of the funny but oh so messy social mismatch love triangle thing with main clueless character.
This wasn't my favorite chapter because I think Author is playing games with us again.

I'm reading fan translated Otaku's Daughter. 9 years old girl meets 26 years old otaku and tells him he is her father. Hilarity ensues. Drama too. Good stuff. I can't find english translations in print.
Gods. Damn. You.
So I thought, "Well, that sounds vaguely interesting, grownup/kid interactions without the ecchi vibe of Kodomo no Jikan, might as well give it a shot."
...Here I am, eight hours later, and I must force myself to stop without finishing.
It's not that I disliked the ecchi vibe of Kojika, and it had a satisfying story arc that ended very well, but it's nice to see adult/kid gags that are more than just "Flashes her panties at him and he doesn't know how to deal with it," sort of thing. The drama so far is just the right touch too, not heavy handed enough to make me go, "Well, that was drawn out pointlessly," but also not so glossed over as to make you think, "That was just tossed in pointlessly."
The funniest part for me was the scene where the otaku father casually comments on a game in a crowded classroom and all the kids crowd in because that happened to me a month ago when I was subbing in an afterschool program.

I continue to follow the South Koren's "Manga" The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor.
The comic just made another hint of a twist in the story. I've like this one since the starter, the series is based on Nam-Hi-Sung's by the light novels series by the same name. The artist Kim Tae-hyung and author teamed up with Nam-Hi-Sung, Lee Do-gyeong.

the latest two chapters of Imori 201 in English went up this morning (local time), yes it's trashy but it's fun, perhaps it should get a Anime adaption so it can be a guilty pleasuere

Just finished Chapter 52 of Gate. I wonder what's in the package that was air-dropped?

Currently on Omnibus 9 of "Lone Wolf and Cub". I'm actually going to be a bit sad once I finish this series. Though, I guess then it's off to "New Lone Wolf and Cub". Hopefully it's every bit as awesome.

New manga called Gleipnir.
Only 4 chapters out but, good lord, I have no idea where its going to go but this has been nothing like any manga I've read before.

I need delicious sauce of this one.
Er, source, if you're not down with the 4ch speak.
Right now I'm reading old manga, I just finished up the old Ocarina of Time manga and it's so non-canon it hurts... but it's super-adorable. According to the manga, Link had the dragon boss of the Fire Temple as a little snake and it grew up in the intervening years... Oh, and Sheik apparently worked as a ninja assassin for Ganondork.

geez with all the stuff i have on both electronic storage and dead wood i wonder how extensive my manga and anime stuff really is...

Triange X volume 11. Things are really heating up with new twists and revelations.

Tomo-chan goes to nightover at Jun's place. Cracking funny! ;D O0
Unfortunately many of the pages violate forum rules: insults ( = baka!), sexual implications (I got warning about that), and I believe we all know how those are in manga & anime. I guess this page pass the forum rules (http://b.mangatown.com/store/manga/18179/269.0/compressed/t001.jpg?v=1457242921) however.

So....Arakawa Under Bridge. It's over. And I finally caught up on the 400 chapters. What a surreal reading.

Enjoying 'Saint Young Men'.

About 2/3 of the way through Neon Genesis Evangelion, it's been a great read so far. Maybe it's the fact that I haven't watched the anime in a while, but there are scenes that I just plain don't remember.

NGE manga is pretty much alternative take on anime's story. So it's not one-on-one re-creation which makes it IMO better than anime.
-
Ladies and gentlemen, I edited the threads title to include a warning about links. We understand that with manga page 53 may be fine but 52 and 54 would violate the site rules. To try and prevent anyone being shocked we are adding the NSFW warning in the title.
What does this mean? Honestly, not much changes. Don't link to pages that break the rules. However, if other pages in the manga do we have no problem with, say linking to page 52 and telling people to start at page 1. They've been warned.
Otherwise carry on folks, and have fun.
-
So, to be perfectly clear with an example:
Direct linking the page where Oolong (as Bulma) flashes 'her' boobs at Kame-sennin and offers him a puff-puff, not okay. Linking to the chapter and mentioning that it has some NSFW stuff, okay?
...Gods, has children's manga changed in the last few decades. I miss Ranma-chan bobbling around and finding it hilarious, rather than going through the volume and thinking, "What if the parents think this is wrong?" and not bringing it to the school. *sigh*
-

Pretty sure that one particular manga was aimed at teen/young adult?
-
I was pleasantly surprised today to discover another manga set in the Gate universe:
Gate - Teikoku no Bara Kishidan - Pinya Co Lada 14-sai
It follows the creation of Princess Pinya's Order of Rose Knights.
-

Totally cool. We are making a point of saying that we aren't going to read every manga you link to. Unless the exact page is a problem we aren't sweating it. Someone else mentioned the index page, that sounds like a good solution.
-
OH MY GODS, YES. Young Pinya messing about with her knights? I'm SOLD!
As you may have gathered, I've been rereading the Dragonball/Dragonball Z manga, and I also found the Dragon Ball SD (http://www.mangareader.net/dragon-ball-sd) manga, and it is hilarious. They reference much later things in the early stories; for example, Oolong transforms into a handsome guy that in the original is just a generic character, but in the remake he straight up transforms into Zarbon - and out pops Bulma to mack on him!
I do want to talk about Yurika's Campus Life without linking to it:
Frankly, the only reason I stuck with it was because my fiance started reading over my shoulder (and found it much more entertaining than I did) but I'm glad I did read past those first few repetitive chapters. The nudity goes down a lot in the later chapters, and it has some highly amusing plot threads regarding a woman who is utterly irresistible to women, the exact opposite to men, yet her main ambition is to find a handsome rich man to give her an easy housewife life. Hilarity does ensue.
The last storyline that just wrapped up was actually really interesting, because it had her working at a hostess bar - and she's got such negative attraction from men that the only reason she was still working there was because of her coworkers and boss, ah, 'liking' her very much. The new storyline is, however, shaping up to be rather boring, despite her hilarious threat to the school dean's son: "If you try to kick me out, I'll just have to seduce your mother..."
I think it's more a woman's ecchi manga than a man's ecchi manga.
Am I just weird? I don't mind nudity at all as a gag, but there has to be more than JUST, "Hurhurhur, bewbs, she flashed her panties, hurhurhur." My favorite chapter of Monster Musume (http://www.mangahere.co/manga/monster_musume_no_iru_nichijou/c038/) has not a shred of ecchi in it; it's about the dullahan befriending a terminally ill little girl and deciding, "No, I really don't want to ferry her across the river." Sounds like a downer, but it is HILARIOUS on all counts, with just the right amount of feels.
-
I do want to talk about Yurika's Campus Life without linking to it:
As a mod, I want to thank you for this textbook display of what we in the business like to refer to as 'common sense'. I applaud you. [applause]
As a manga reader...you've sold me, I'll definitely have to check this one out! O0
Am I just weird? I don't mind nudity at all as a gag, but there has to be more than JUST, "Hurhurhur, bewbs, she flashed her panties, hurhurhur."
I'm with you on that(though my agreement probably doesn't help you answer the question of it bring weird or not). I'm almost always in favor of fanservice or nudity in my manga, but not in the form of 'Boobs for the Boob God!' gratuity. That's just annoying.
-
Indeed, I love fanservice, I love sexy people, and I'm always in favor of bare breasts, but:
it's also nice when the sexy is in service to story, character, or theme, and not so much like a 12-year-old boy was in charge of the script.
-
'Boobs for the Boob God!'
You just gave me the best idea for a Space Marine chapter ever.

They'll probably have to be PMed instead of posted publicly, but I demand pics when you're done! ;D

No she is not. In manga she is very active as leader. She is Queen of all Vampires after all and she also has to maintain relations with japanese while running Vampire Bund since some vampires tend to be unpredictable by nature. And she does do some fighting herself but rarely because she tries to keep her true form secret and for good reason.

Sorry, I don't consider Yuki main female. After all she ended up just being there as Mina's friend and supporting character for both Akira and Mina.
-
Just finished off Neon Genesis Eva, long time coming but a great read alltogether. I'd have to agree, the manga is superior. Just because of how much more they explore the other side characters and their motives. Though I have to ask, Were the events and scenes that occured at the end of the series the orginially planned ending for the anime before they hit their notorious budget cuts? Keep in mind this is without seeing any other installments in the franchise other than the original series.
-
And with that, Assassination Classroom comes to an end. Well done.

With our Princess going off the moral deep end?
For all my complaints about the Anime's second season, I'll agree to that bit being wisely left out.
But then again, Kuribayashi being referred as a demigod was priceless too...

Ore to Hero to Mahou Shoujo
It is quite an interesting manga, I just wish that there is an official english release. However I do get the feeling that we will get an anime in a couple of years.

Re: Gate, well...desperation breeds strange bedfellows. ^-^
Indeed. However Diabo is spineless coward who - for whatever reasons - doesn't even try to cooperate with Pina. And it's interesting how japanese think the Empire is still behaving with all the crap it's doing, like refusing food for Japan's diplomats.
-
Indeed. However Diabo is spineless coward who - for whatever reasons - doesn't even try to cooperate with Pina.
Why should he? Pina is acting like an idiot. And he has already implemented his own plans.

Pina is acting like an idiot.
How so? For having interest to japanese "fine arts" and accepting Diabo's demand which he said wasn't serious?
And he has already implemented his own plans.
Let me look up "implemented" from dictionary... Only thing I see Diabo has implemented is to run off from the capital. Have I missed anything?

Yes, though the manga hasn't shown it yet. Have you read the novel translations?
-
ps. I haven't read any novel translations. This is just my perspective from the manga.
How so? For having interest to japanese "fine arts" and accepting Diabo's demand which he said wasn't serious?
For thinking that the Empire's current political process can solve the crisis. She should be at least making backup plans for leaving and smuggling her father out, but no she is just waiting for someone to rescue her.
Let me look up "implemented" from dictionary... Only thing I see Diabo has implemented is to run off from the capital. Have I missed anything?
He knows that the crown prince is becoming an insane dictator. In the capital he is just waiting to be murdered, so he is getting out, sending the servants away and advising others (like his sister) to leave as well. When he is out of the capital he can look for aid and hopefully (from his pov) use that to restore the Empire. He will likely have to give some large concessions, but it beats the alternative (total fall of the Empire, followed by succession wars).
-

Mind you, this is a person who after watching a play decided to found an Order of Knights consisting mostly of female nobles around her age....as a child. Strongly emphasize on knights.

Good call, I give you that. Then again, japanese seem to think the same. Just kick that SOB from the throne already and replace him with Diabo or Pina, but no. Shit is gonna hit the fan sooner or later, and japanese choose later. Then again, Zorzal might not have done anything too drastic yet which would require drastic countermeasures by Japan, and JSDF is waiting & preparing for that. I can't think of anything else about it.

Soumatou.
Mystery genre. A girl and a cat live alone in a mansion, she tend a greenhouse full of white flowers for the town (flower caretaker or such). You're drawn in the more you read on. It's very compelling.

Started reading , Renai Boukun, its pretty funny book. Cupid, who happens to latch on to our poor main character who draws in gallery of really wacky and crazy woman..

I was just thinking how this manga I finished a few days ago contained all the elements of a classic Lovecraftian horror.
6000 by Koike Nokuto. It got everything including people losing sanity and becoming gibbering.
-
I read Neon Genesis Evangelion volumes 13 and 14 from 2-in-1 published by Viz. Well ending was lot better than original anime ending and EoE that's for sure with some elements from EoE but done much better.

I heard the anime ending was really rushed? If so that would explain for the manga ending being better since that had more time to wrap up.

Aff, I hear it was because of a couple of factors, the wiki states that the show was running close to it's deadlines through out it's run, causing the script to be rewrote and the original planned ending to be abandoned by episode 13.
Due to the time constraints, already finished scenes for the ending had to be reworked to match the new deadline. Because of this, most of the ending stayed unfinished.

What you talking about? Isn't this in the past of Battle Angel manga?
I was bit upset that author decided not go ahead into the future instead after Last Order was done.
-
you guys are right it was zott
the new series just jumps back and forth between past present after the last order
-
I try not to sweat the terminology in Gunnm too much. Practically every localization introduces some new, bizarre name alteration.

Was reading Fullmetal Alchemist up until volume 10, but then I started watching its TV adaptation FMA: Brotherhood. Love FMA! Still need to see the last season though. The manga is really fun to read.

Brotherhood is way more faithful to the manga than the first series. But both are fun to watch.

Yeah I had been watching the first series up until it started deviating from the manga, that's when I found out Brotherhood was, as you said, much more faithful to the manga. I really dig the art style in FMA. It's got this grit and specific way the characters are all drawn, especially during the funny sections (plenty of that!)

Been reading the comedy/supernatural South Koren Manga - I'm a Loser. 20th something guy who has been blessed or cursed with blood that can kill demons, unfortunately he himself isn't that good at anything when Trouble finds him. There not alot volumes i've found of it, but it's funny and good read.

I am reading Naruto: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring as finnish translated version. I don't know what I expected but this is even worse than end of Naruto as manga. I already regret buying it.
EDIT: On positive note I am liking volume 11 of A Certain Scientific Railgun.

Been Steadly following UQ Holder, their up to Chapter 128, where they've ended their weekly publication to switch gears to a monthly starting in....October. That's while to wait for slightly longer publication.
Also, they announced (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-06-18/negima-spinoff-manga-uq-holder-gets-anime/.103359)their going release Anime version of UQ Holder. Which is fine, even if it gets cut off at 13 and with ending that doesn't have anything to do with manga. It's good advertising for manga, it needs more people reading it. I think it maybe struggling.

Ken Akamatsu has been indicating on twitter that he's been in a bit of a slump with the manga and struggling to meet his weekly deadlines. My biggest concern with it is that Akamatsu-sensei doesn't seem sure where he's taking the story - the characters and art are great, but it all feels a bit aimless.

That's kinda a serious problem for a story teller. If you don't have an ending in mind when you start it or see possible endings for your story as it goes on.....

Yikes. He must be super stressed. He forgot what heck he was doing with characters in the first place?
I'm worried that this will be last round up for UQ Holder since they seemed to have skipped the tournament to start rumbling with delusional-dominated/controlled Negi. The main characters of UQ Holder are immortal. He has plenty of time to tell his tale, but if he lost his way. Then the man needs a vacation. :(

Found this pretty interesting South Koren manga called Trinity Wonder.
Hightech world accidentally teleports a master Chinese style martial artist (think near Goku's beginning from the original Dragon Ball) and Fantasy type magic user. This is serious scifi, with light humor integrated with AMAZING art work.

Two new chapters of Gate, eh. O NO U DIN'T HARDY
-
Oh yes indeed! I had read translations from *.txt files the day those were made. In newest chapter Hardy makes an entrance (http://img.bato.to/comics/2016/08/01/g/read579ec3d8c8bf6/img000022.jpg)!
-
It is worth of note that Gate manga deviates from the novels and anime. In novels (and maybe in the anime, haven't seen it through) events in the newest manga chapter are flashbacks. So manga doesn't mix up order of the things; novels & anime do that instead.
-
Considering the novels came first, I'd say they're not the ones mixing things up.
-
Also the fact the Anime condensed Novels 2 & 3.
So now we're seeing events that were glossed over in the Anime.

Call it timeline then >:(

I just discovered a Chinese Manga, called Tales of Demons and Gods
It's mystical, martial arts, adventure, magic and has sense of humor while it's taking self seriously.
Now the plot sounds initially like trope, man reawakens after death in his 13 year old past self.
His city, his people, his love killed and betrayed by rival clan. Now set on path of saving the future by changing the past.
Aside from what sounds like typical male lead who seems to be know it all, since he already lived it. It's pretty darn good, while there drops of humor hear and there. It's up to chapter 88.
-
A more military Manga, Kurogane Pukapuka Tai (https://allthetropes.org/wiki/Kurogane_Pukapuka_Tai). World War Two Yuri comedy, centered around the Heavy Cruiser Inebi. A rather unusual Heavy Cruiser, built as a commerce raider, she a heavy cruiser modified with battleship guns. She crewed with mostly woman, (not explained).
In general, it takes itself semi-seriously. Raiding in the Indian ocean, and it's amusing as well. I found it amusing so far from what i've read of it.
The link is to Trope website that explains manga better than i can.

Are there more than 5 chapters of A Friendly Orc's Daily Life (or: II ORC NO HI)? Those who have forgot about it: manga is about decent & upstanding orc and naughty elf.
[edit]
Becouse it is NOT hentai, elf girl's desires go unfulfilled. As in many other manga & anime it seems. Poor girl (http://h.mhcdn.net/store/manga/16311/005.0/compressed/u001.jpg?v=1447078922)

It doesn't have to be hentai to suggest or implicated a relationship has been consummated....
And still great majority of the manga & anime don't go there but leave the girls for longing. I know few that make exception to the rule:
Girlfriends
Yuri romance of high school girls. Heavy on romance and drama, but light on yuri action. Nevertheless great read. Has MadCapellan's Seal of Approval.
A Bride's Story
In Victorian era (or thereabout), English historian travels along the Silk Road, attends weddings, and meets lovely brides. Has very detailed artwork. It looks like author has done her homework and knows what she does. Highly recommended.
Domestic na Kanojo
High school boy is in love with his teacher. Understanding morals about teacher-student relationship, he tries to abolish his desires by getting laid with a student from another school. Then his father gets married and wife has 2 daughters. Can you guess who are guy's new sisters? This manga has got some flak, but I have enjoyed of it.
Re:Monster
Guy dies and is reborn as a goblin. Armed with all the knowledge (and then some) from his past life as a human, he grows up to be the toughest goblin in the neighbourhood and de facto leader of his tribe. Even though he abolishes the rape, he has no shortage of girls and women: from fellow goblins to humans, elves, and then some. And he fulfills their desires! Hentai isn't the point, it isn't in every chapter, and when it is, given H-scene is only page or 2. Nevertheless this manga is wild ride in many ways where male lead is highly qualified badass who doesn't apologize nor bow to anyone. Official translations have been announced: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
So nobody here has any more info about II ORC NO HI? Did author leave it at 5 chapters? Or did translators just drop the ball?
-
Currently reading through Gundam Thunderbolt, after recently watching the 4 part OVA.
Enjoying the series' art style so far, and the tone of the series! Really helps get idea of how seemingly pointless the struggle over control of the Thunderbolt sector is.

The author posts his works publically on pixiv. He's currently apparently busy drawing godzillas.
There's been 10-12 months between previous chapters too though (and those aren't up yet since Ch 5), the release has been ongoing since early 2013.

That guy was never human - just an anthopomorphic plot device.

I just found Otome Sensou, a manga set in Bohemia during the Hussite War. Its very gruesome, but I guess that's fitting. I would never have thought this would be a setting for a manga, but I was extremely interested when I read the summary. Its not bad, so far.

I looked at the summary. That remind me of another manga who is set in a fictional island. Of course in that one, the protagonist have a child and lost one of her eye so she wear an eye patch.

Eh, the first manga page that comes up on Google Image search for Otome Sensou has me definitely deciding that's not my speed.
On that note i've just started rereading Rose Hip Rose. Good old seinen by the same guy who did GTO.

Wasn't it a white cross on the red background? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_Hospitaller)
So this manga has at least some historical accuracy. At first glance maybe in par with Vinland Saga. What do you think? I'll definitely bookmark this for future reading.
Gotta finish up Ad Astra - Scipio to Hannibal first. That seems to be by far the most accurate historical war manga with quotes (at end of the chapters) from historians of the time. If historically accurate and realistic warfare is your thing, then check it out.

Recently i started reading Go Nagai mangas like UFO Robot Grendizer and God Mazinger ("precuror to Mazinger z set in the parallel world with hero from our world). Unlike the Mazinger/Transzor Z (to some folks), this book has Robot subituted with a golem like statue that absorbs and merges with the boy name Yamato from Japan.
These books are dated like Grendizer was written in the 1970s and GM in 1984.
I can't say i would recommend them, i grew up with animes (edited versions Grandizer and Transzor Z) so i wanted read what they were about. Their hyper violent and has some adult content (nudity). I just want say wow, to the hyper violent. It was waaay to much for me. #P #P
Given the anime sequels done in the 1990s and 2000 were bizarre and hyper violent. I had wonder why it was done that way. Now i know, mangas were like that originally.
-
Anyone who complains anime or manga has gotten more sexual or violent recently and needs to rein it in is clearly ignorant of the medium's history. Anything anyone is doing now that's getting people worked up, Go Nagai already did back in the 1970s....

I make a guess those complainers grew up watching anime where worst violence, blood, and nudity were censored & cut off. Or wasn't available in their respective countries at all. Thankfully some of those VHS classics have recently been released again on DVD bigger, longer & uncut, and with original japanese audio with subtitles. Thanks for recommendation. I'll check it out and make comparison to uncensored Silver Fang.
-
Didn't the very first volume of Lupin III feature a topless Fujiko? I could swear that one of the stories had him sneaking out of a woman's room while her husband was sneaking in there. Might be mixing it up with another manga, though.
And let's not forget that Astro Boy's guns were stored in his ass.
-

So far what they've mentioned about Jan Hus is right. Jan Zizka did have one eye (before going completely blind, and even after that he still kept winning battles), women marched and fought alongside the men, and they used wagons and fought from them, even putting light cannon inside some of them. IIRC four crusades were mounted against them in the span of about 13 years and all of them failed.
As for Templars, the Knights Templar were destroyed a century before this story begins, so that was an error or a mistranslation.
-

It's either the Hospitalers or the Tueton Knights. Both were still active in Europe. Though I can't remember when the tueton order disbanded.

Is this manga new release? Becouse I can't find anything about it on Wikipedia nor on TVtropes. My brother has woman from Czech cohabiting with him. Would this manga make good gift to her (once it gets translated)? MadCapellan, can you have your wife read the first chapter of it and tell here what she thinks of it?
-
My wife really only likes moe slice of life & shonen adventure anime. I'm reasonably confident that she would hate it, & I rather doubt her opinion would really give you a better idea of whether your brother's girlfriend would enjoy it or not. Sorry!
-
I see. But I'll buy it to her as soon as translations come available in print. I hope it makes as funny joke (in different sort of way) as Oreimo anime to my little sister on christmas. "Here's historical manga about your homeland. Main character is a girl. Hope you enjoy }:)"

You might find it in its Czech title as Dívčí Válka.
Its first volume released in Japan in January 2014, the most recent in May this year. (Six in total).

I decided to try with author's name. Only translations (in print) I have found so far are french.

As far as Otome Sensou/Divci Valka goes, it IS pretty good and depicts things pretty well - just uh...there's some seriously graphic stuff depicted in spots. Very strong NSFW warning on it.

So I recently reread almost all of Berserk (only skipping the volumes having to deal with the Band of the Hawk as Berserk is good when it's mostly about the supernatural interacting with the natural), and... still good. Like, really good.
They're FINALLY about to help Caska. Schierke's dreams (https://mangastream.com/r/berserk/347/3692/14) are adorable! So not Berserk, and yet so funny!
They go into Caska's dreams and...
"BERSERK IS GOING ON HIATUS. SEE YOU IN EARLY 2017!"
GRARGH!

Check out Ratman!
It reminds me of the movie Mystery Men. ;D

I am enjoying a relatively new manga Palace Meidi or Palace Meiji, depending on the site you frequent. The Meiji Emperor is female, and its interesting to see how the Court, and society in general, have to come to grips with that, and the conventions used to deal with it, and how she handles all of it, being aware of both the traditional male dominated society and also the push for modernization happening simultaneously. The story is told chiefly from a young man in the court staff who is devoted to her. She appears quite intelligent, and I like how she navigates her way through traditions and changes while maintaining her august position but also stealing moments of personal escape; sometimes cleverly melding the two.

Just recently discovered a new manga called, Knight's and Magic. (https://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Knight%27s_and_Magic). Basically Mecha Otaku who also a computer programmer dies in a car accident and is reborn in world where large magic powered Mech like Knights are piloted by magic users. It originally was a light novel series, that's gone to manga form now. There not alot of the manga chapters so far, but i like what I'm reading. Reborn as boy, he gets to live the dream of piloting something he always wanted to. Its action pack, light comedy. there bit of i remember the other world business that let's him get used of to the world. I think only thing throws me off is his appearance, which makes him look like girl. Which is a running gag so far.

I want to say the artist got hit with some pretty serious plagiarism (tracing) allegations. Wasn't all that impressed by the anime, but finding out he traced Kantoku certainly didn't win me over.

So I just started reading Ane Naru Mono (http://www.mangahere.co/manga/ane_naru_mono/c001/), and... I'm intrigued.
An orphan teenager accidentally stumbles into his uncle's workshop and summons - well, he summons Shub-Niggurath, the Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young. She offers him one wish and he says, "Be my older sister."
And a big part of it is this goddess/demon/Great Old One discovering what it is to be human. Unlike some other works I've seen in this line like Ah My Goddess!, which tend towards sitcom mistake cuteness, it has a very dark undertone despite having at least one or two laugh-out-loud moments - what she pictures Cthulhu wearing is not to be missed.
It has some distinctly almost-hentai stuff, but somehow it comes across as more creepy than arousing - and never shows anything above a PG-13. It apparently started as a non-parody hentai doujinshi which I'll probably track down in a little while; I'd be interested to see if they manage to keep that creepy feel even in pornography.
And it's not like I hate porn.
Oh, and Tomo-chan's beach episode is proceeding fairly hilariously. And it's on hiatus. Rrrgh.

Is it just for comedy or is it actually played seriously for the idea of a truly alien creature trying to assimilate as a human? The former might end up like Nyarl-ko...which, to be entirely fair, made an unintentionally fantastic point. Where else would a group of winged, tremendously betentacled mind-raping squid-monsters find their entertainment but Japanese pop culture? What once was censorship became a selling point to them...

The second. There are some laughs in it, but the basic idea of "Alien creature taking her job as older sister VERY seriously despite not knowing how" is treated quite literally. Also, each chapter ends with liberal tragedy flags. Early example: What she things would be a good meal for her younger brother (http://www.mangahere.co/manga/ane_naru_mono/c002/9.html).
It's still in early days yet, though, only chapter 6.
In some ways it minds me of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, one of the best manga EVER. It has kind of a feeling of... mono no aware, though to be frank it's forcing that fairly hard with the chapter endings instead of letting it flow more naturally. As a freshman story, though, a bit of heavyhandedness can be forgiven here and there.

YKK forever! Still a manga that I think about with a bit of a smile and a hitch in my throat.
Be interested to hear if you agree with me about the general feel, aside from the... well... darker atmosphere. Black Goat of the Woods versus cute android is a pretty big world of difference, but the feeling of taking happiness from the transience of life is there.

Koumiishi-sensei's motto applies to lots of things, and well...joy in the glimpses of momentary magic is always wonderful. But you can't always tell how bright something is without some darkness to contrast it with. Which rests more gloriously; a diamond lost among white satin or an eggshell in a sea of black velvet?

I'm reading sort of old manga, which is new to me.
Seiten Taisen Flieder Bug (Sometimes it also known as Seiten Wars Flieder), This is set during World War III which China essentially "winning" because they fielded large war machines and Giant Robots/Mecha which they fought the control world's last remaining energy reserves.
Art is gorgeous, highly detailed. I just begun reading it so i'm not sure where the plot is going.
This is a classic giant robot manga set in what-if future, where world is devastated.

I've got some good manga and more is on the way. How to Build a Dungeon: Book of the Demon King is about evil sorcerer who gets to work with underground dungeon and world conquest. Looks like he has read evil overlord list (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilOverlordList) (some of it anyway) and is very competent and capable. He also has harem and he makes good use of it. This manga is clearly rated M for Manly O0
Mushoku Tensei: Jobless reincarnation starts with introduction and death of Japanese male lead. His dying wish is to start his life over. Surprisingly he gets what he wants and is reincarnated in high fantasy world. This time he sets to do things right. And he does.
Vagabond is fictionalized biography about Miyamoto Musashi (look him up on Wikipedia). First English omnibus volume ordered and on the way.
Goblin Slayer is heavy deconstruction of high fantasy genre. Party of young wannabe adventurers start their adventuring career with goblin hunt. Reality ensues with Berserk level brutality (and near obscenity) which goes well against forum rules, scarring the characters with trauma and PTSD. Enjoy.
Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu, translated as Moon-led Journey Across Another World, doesn't seem to have a Wikipedia entry yet. Wait, it's got a page on TVtropes. So ordinary Japanese high school student (a boy this time) is called to be a hero in a fantasy world. Goddess of the fantasy world doesn't like his looks, tells him to live quiet life, and drops him on to edge of the known world. School boy doesn't take that well and starts doing what he thinks a hero is supposed to do. And he kicks ass like John Carter (and for the same reason). He earns recognition for his actions and gets beautiful companions. Otherwise manga is about parodying and trolling the tropes with over-the-top power levels, action, boss fights, collateral damage, and shenanigans. I expect fans of Disgaea to enjoy of this. And I do too.
[edit]
I've also placed an order for the first volume of GATE: Where the JSDF Fought

I've discovered unusual manga which is named Yaoguai Mingdan, which is technically a online Chinese manga. This is a modern day fantasy/mature/comedy thing, centered around a young man in college named Feng Xi. He is a nobody, until he approached by attractive girl, whom is more than she appears to be. Never the less it's like a screw ball fantasy comedy, which has supernatural creatures running around in human from old Chinese mysticism/supernatural. There is elements of horror, but not a lot and it initially starts as mature comic, but those elements are kinda disappeared by later chapters.
It's not harem thou it looks like one, but i'd recommend if you have sense humor for RomCom Modern Supernature type manga.

He is a nobody, until he approached by attractive girl, whom is more than she appears to be.
Default mass recipe for Manhua.
Plots about as predictable as random japanese harem visnovs, although they run somewhat differently of course.

Yesterday I read major spoiler about this one, based on the light novels (or so they say). You have been warned! Male lead has got insanely high level familiars (http://h.mhcdn.net/store/manga/18857/011.0/compressed/t017.jpg?token=bdbfae67e865ff8a028d123fa05c453d&ttl=1482519600), but guy himself is only level 1 (http://h.mhcdn.net/store/manga/18857/011.0/compressed/t018.jpg?token=62e28e519a485c0638e153928cf9c900&ttl=1482505200), even though he beats a 122 level dwarf in arm wrestling without breaking a sweat (http://h.mhcdn.net/store/manga/18857/016.0/compressed/f019.jpg?token=9edbb2a6f0b47cfdd7f2e8f174ed6550&ttl=1482501600)! Explained reason is guy is so crazy strong his level cannot be measured. As I understand it, it is something akin to buffer overflow, or going "up to eleven" on scale of ten. Thus - for whatever reason - error shows result of 1. I'm looking forward to the moment when he shows to mean goddess what is what }:)

Discovered a interesting old school style Cyberpunk manga, No Gun Life. Don't get mixed up with No Game, No Life. Its hasn't anything to do with that.
Its a post-war era in the future, where humans volunteered to becoming cyborgs, living weapons in some cases. The main character is vet of this war, where he had full body conversion. His head is Oversize revolver, the setting is very bleak but they've not gotten out of the city yet. This series manga's has a very detailed artist. It reminds of Appleseed as the setting goes. Main character is a detective for hire known as Processor, he works within the law handle cybernetic individuals breaking the law and anti-cybernetic crimes.
Ive only gotten up the 13 chapter, but its pretty good. There mystery in a mystery but its enjoyable.

Why am I reminded of Luluco? ;)

Magic and Knights finally updated. The main character finally got himself in a Mech (which is hybrid magical golem but sure looks hightech inside.) I wish they bring the manga over to the West so i can buy the darn thing

I just discovered a old Steampunk Mecha manga named Sakura Taisen. It's set in alternate 1923 Japan, where steam still pretty main stream of technology and looming demons attack. The hero is a newly minted Ensign from the Naval Academy, he sent to what he thought was punishment assignment Theater which was cover for undercover resistance to demon amd mechnical men attacks. Steam humaniod mecha they use remind me of Votims and mix of Zakus if you look at them hard enough. It was originally published 2003, it was interesting since the volume one i managed to read look like it was from the 80s given how detailed the art work was and how big mecha related things were back then verse the 2000s. Apparently it was popular and a PS2 game for it came out for it. Which pretty Cool.

Harem RPG game series that morphed into a large multi-media franchise.
I have the ADV release of the original OVA series on DVD and Vol 1 of it on VHS. I also have a number of the original group mecha kits as well. Pretty decent franchise overall.

Picked up Volume 7 of the DanMachi light novel (i.e. Is It Wrong to Try and Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)
Have you finished it yet? Don't read the following paragraph's spoilers if you haven't.
I... liked it. But I thought the whole bit with the foxgirl prostitute at the end never having actually DONE anything was a huge cop-out. Also, Freya and Loki's familias are described as being on par with each other, but it seems as though Loki only has one Level 6 and Freya has a Level 7 and a passel of 6's?
But the last scenes with Freya actually made me like her. Kinda badass.

Buster Dress - This is a Mecha based scifi manga, where Earth is overpopulated and with the development of Faster-Than-Light Drive, human civilization has found world they were able to colonize. However, shortly midway through the process terrorist start attacking and stop terraforming of this Second Earth. Due to their desperation and expendablity, young people are hired by the corporation that was developing Second Earth to liberate the planet. These warriors are pilots of Mecha called Buster Dress, which are customized per the pilot abilities. The story focuses on a young pilot who is a orphan after his older brother was lost in previous liberation attempt. His personal Mech, named by him as GunHawk, has experimental AI which is essentially self-aware and programed to take care of him.
IF this sounds remarkably familiar, well it does to me. It sounds like James Cameron's Avatar but more Mecha oriented without natives.
The art is fantastic, thou the main character's mecha is bit toooo similar to Gundam. Other Mecha do NOT look like anything from that universe, but its pretty good and gritty. I've only read 2 chapters so far of the Manga, its looking good so far.

To Me: Looks like Tomo-chan was trying skirt around the fact she could not think of anything for them to do and just gave them a nice compliment about wanting to stay friends forever. They said its nice, but she needs to come up with ACTUAL thing for them to do as "king".

I just got to reading this one. The site I go through has chapters 1-8 up.
Yup, sounds like love child of Gargantia and IBO.
Not quite.
More like The Terminator with Gundams whose skynet seems to have developed an interest in the lead character/mech pair.
I will admit I really liked ch 8. Our leads go back and bury their teammates/mechs that got killed early on.
I could see a anime series of this in a couple of years...
-
Haven't started it quite yet, but, preparing to dive into Berserk. I've been wanting to read it for years, but, never managed to get around to it until now for some reason. So, I ordered the first 3 volumes.

not manga but...
Terminator - The Burning Earth by now comics from the 90s caught my eye when it was right next to the small at teh time manga section when viz was the big boy on the block before dark horse came knocking.
any how was cleaning some of my old back ups to transfer to an external drive and came across that gem...
considering i have them in the box since i scanned them back in 1998 i was happy to see files were not corrupted.( damn now i have to look for the comic boxes and through them to find the originals and start initiating my oldest into joys of comics and manga)
so after i was done with my clean up i sat and read some of the comics. what struck me was the art work and how great it was along with the story that actually made sense compared to later adaptations by dh.
so any one else read the terminator by now comics? and are they as good as the burning earth art wise and story wise?
or in other words should i start my hunt or just skip it.

Origin (Manga) - This is a future where robotics are waaaaaaaay more advance. It is about a Cyborg/Android that was given human level sentience by it's creator. This hard core Cyberpunk future, where the Cyborg is trying live to his father's dream of co-existing. This is gorgeously drawn, with hard core action as long touches of humor. The Cyborg is set against other made before him who aren't as peaceful as he. He fights them, he has a signature samurai sword hidden in one of his arms.
So far it's been pretty darn good. I wish i could share the pictures here of it, but it's not licensed yet for the West.
Here the cover art which has nice explanation.

Okay, there's a lot more going than that, but I do like seeing her in less boyish outfits. Tomboys dressing like fancy girls is adorable.

Well...uhh..I had never expected to run into this as a Japanese Manga...
I read...Shadowrun Tokyo...yes it's based on ACTUAL Shadowrun. This is set in Tokyo in 2050, this is focus on a Shadowrunners lead by Street mage named Hashizou. I suspect he's more a Shaman since he been able to manipulate spirits like water elements and stuff. I've read only a couple Chapters. It certainly has decent art, the story pretty good with with touch of comedy in there. I suspect this a old manga that not currently in production. Still a treat to read! Wish someone had done BattleTech too!
-
Wow. What's the date of the manga? There was a Sega CD Shadowrun game circa 94 or 95, and it may have been a tie-in.

The source i discovered didn't specified when. It must been within the last 10 years. Game year 2050 was at least 4th edition. Whoever did the original manga paid very close attention on how SR works. Thou it does have it has Japanese cultural works you may not necessary see in Shadowrun game, it was certainly felt like they knew what they were doing. Nothing i read so far of what was published online seem to have a tie in to video game. Apparently SR fans discovered this and it was their efforts that lead to it's translating. I'm pretty certain this wasn't going to be imported to the US. There apparently a facebook page, but i'm not on it.

How to build a Dungeon: Book of the Demon King
I'd like to have some discussion about this manga. Who has read it? What are your thoughts about it? I've got the first volume and second is inbound. To sum it up: evil sorcerer builds a dungeon, conquers the surface, and gets lots of... Just read it and you'll see. I like this guy. He is evil, he admits it, but he is competent evil. He's NOT an incompetent who would make you think: "How that idiot got the position in the first place?" He really is good at what he does and his minions are competent. Together they defeat heroes and adventurers while subjugating villages, towns, and entire kingdoms. Manipulative bastard, magnificent bastard, chess player... Just few tropes to give you an idea about the guy. He also follows good number of points on Evil Overlord List (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilOverlordList). He doesn't even bother with getting married with women of defeated king; instead he adds them to his harem right away. I love this guy!
Your turn.

It's about a school who doesn't give a *blank* what happens. She basically has no reaction to anything that happens to her. It's a gag comic. First chapter Moee there attempt's to kidnapped her by UFO which looks like Cosmo from G1 Transformers.

I've gotten into manga i found name Toaru Ossan no VRMMO Katsudouki.
It's about middle age man who plays a (Virtual Reality MMO) VRMMO called "One More Free Life Online" under the username "Earth". The game itself is a fantasy setting where he is free choose chose several skills that are generally regarded as useless. Be it wasting time crafting potions, cooking up pointlessly tasty food, or hunting monsters with some absurd weapon he crafted, he simply enjoys playing the game.
Essentially it's video-game related title, but mix of adventuring/comedy/story and odd reason food is pretty enjoyable. I

So Dungeon Meshi almost killed me today.
Eating the edible treasure bugs and throwing away the inedible stuff mixed in, aka the ACTUAL treasure.
I have some kind of respiratory infection, and it made me laugh so hard that I coughed for almost thirty seconds. I swear, my toes and fingertips were tingling by the time I was done.

My fiance's suggestion was "The treasure bugs inside of a mimic."
The BEE COINS, THEY'RE IN MY EYES, AAAAUAUUUGGHH!
-
Just re-read entire Dungeon Meshi series so far. I missed couple chapters, man that guy who does this is super talented. Level detail to the story while still making it serious dungeon adventure is great. Mad Sorcerer/Sorceress thing turning to another level. only think i'm upset about is that the party doesn't seem have much of reaction of the sister's disappearance aside from trying find her. She likely to have been changed into a dragon since the Mad just see her as such. I really like the sister...
-
My fiance's suggestion was "The treasure bugs inside of a mimic."
The BEE COINS, THEY'RE IN MY EYES, AAAAUAUUUGGHH!
You know that's very plausible. Treasure bugs and mimic in a symbiote relationship; the bugs paralyze the party while the mimic distract them.
-
IIRC there was a monster very similar to the treasure bugs in Forgotten Realms in AD&D. Have to look for it.

Ah really? I have seen the anime and manga. I don't get the impression the manga was inferior?
-
Ah really? I have seen the anime and manga. I don't get the impression the manga was inferior?
Manga cuts off a number of scenes. Then again, so does anime compared to light novels (first appearance of Wiz got left out from anime and she is introduced via narration). Anime expands some of the other scenes though (cabbage harvest). Now this has benefit neither of the two (light novels & anime that is) doesn't exclude the other and seeing both provides more comprehensive story. But manga doesn't seem to add anything new. I guess manga could be used to introduce the franchise to your friends though...
Incidentally I bought manga by accident when I was going for light novel. Reading the manga is no fun on tiny screen of my iPhone 4 (iBooks app), I don't know a way to get it on larger screen of my Windows machines (desktop, laptop & tablet), and I'm not gonna buy iPad for it >:(
-
So I'm getting a Blu-Ray burner in the mail soon and I decided that now was the time to rearchive my comic collection, all of it, as carefully sorted cbrs.Well, technically I'm rearchiving EVERYTHING, but the manga is probably most relevant here.
I'm finding things I did not know I had, especially fan translations from long ago, and it's taking a LOT of willpower to not read Appare Jipangu or Akira again or Kamichu - I had no idea what that last one was, it was just sitting there on one of my disks, and I had to stop myself after the first chapter lest I lose a few hours to it.
On the other hand, I'm finding things that I'll never want to read again. Hana Kimi? I have no idea what compelled me to read it the first time. Legend of Basara? A supposed classic that I find just dreadfully boring, for some reason I can't pin down.
I'm also finding stuff that I never finished, probably because the translation reached the current chapter and I just... forgot about it.
Still, I think I'm looking at around 50ish gigs of manga. That is... pretty significant.

It is, I for example only have about 22 gig of manga.

I recommend external hard disk drives for long term back ups. Terabyte has been under 100 € for several years (10 years?) by now, and bottom prices are probably around 50 € for external HDD. Great for backing up anime DVDs, and I expect HDD with little of use to last for tens of years while optical recordable discs (NOT disk (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floppy_disk) damn it >:() don't last 20 years (could be some exceptions to the rule).

In middle of reading Berserk. Currently at chapter 106.
It's....so ****** up and that's keeping me reading it.

Berserk is the manliest thing in the world, just barely edging out the Krupp Excavator 288 and handily beating the P51 Mustang. There is just SOMETHING about it that draws you and keeps you. "The world IS going to kill me, but I'll still spit in its eye and go down swinging, damn it all!"

*looks at stuff*
I'm sitting on at least 10 terabytes of data that need to be backed up. At LEAST. It's not just manga; it's old TV shows and movies that I prefer in a computer format over a DVD format for usability (or that you can't GET in dvds, like the full Mystery Science Theater 3000 or Wizard of Space & Time), RPG books, games of various formats... and of course all the hentai that I've collected over the years. I'm finding doujinshi I never knew I had.
A 6 tb disk may cost around $150-200USD, but a 50-disk spindle of Blu-Rays costs $25 and holds 1.25tb. For the same amount of money, I can archive 10tb total.
As far as lifespan goes, some of the DVDs I've been pulling data from are ten years old now and still working fine. I never expect these Blu-Rays to last me forever; but they'll last long enough to transition to something more expansive and permanent. According to testing, burnable BDRs last 50ish years. Not that I really believe that, mind you, but they should last for a long time.
Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to have the storage space to simply have them, but I'm a data hoarder. I've also had my fair share of HDD failures, and the thought of trusting EVERYTHING to one point of failure... at least the disks break it up into 25gb chunks so that in theory I could recover them. Hell, they're cheap enough that I could archive every disk twice.
Oh, gods, I just found Imouto Wa Shisunki - it's a hilarious 4koma comedy about an absolutely perverted highschool girl and her poor brother, always the butt of her punchlines.... No... cannot read it, must keep working....
EDIT: And the next one I go to is Kabu no Isaki, by the same mangaka as YKK. I forgot I got that! My willpower is being tested!
-
As far as lifespan goes, some of the DVDs I've been pulling data from are ten years old now and still working fine.
On CD-Rs and DVD-Rs i've had failure rates of around 10-15% after fifteen years scaling over a larger amount (around 1700 discs), with a trend to rapidly go up once they go past ten years; for scale, the stated estimated life expectancy for non-rewritable CDs and DVDs is around 100 years under optimal conditions.
I've since moved on to external HDDs - identical 3 TB models - for archiving which have each run only a few hundred hours in the last five years, and with not-otherwise-recoverable things copied to multiple HDDs.
-
I plan on picking up the novel of Your Name tomorrow at Barnes and Noble. (I loved the movie).
-
the stated estimated life expectancy for non-rewritable CDs and DVDs is around 100 years under optimal conditions.
That long? I recall reading from somewhere reliable life expectancy for CD-ROM would be 25 years. In home conditions maybe? And I have had CD-ROM failure to occur in less than 10 years for MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, and MekTek has pulled the game offline >:(

In my experience, one should not expect home-burned CDs to last more then 10 years, even when stored properly. Failures from profession production is a lot more rare.

Yeah that's what resonance with me, the essence of the berserk rage and fighting not to kill but to live, to survive.
-
So after I turned every manga I wanted to keep into tightly organized CBRs, the total is 757 individual volumes of manga at nearly 50 gigabytes. this isn't counting the American comics in a separate folder, or the artbooks. A LOT of artbooks.
Stuff I'm planning to read now and that I forgot I had: Appare Jipangu, Futari Ecchi, Fire Emblem, and My Lovely Ghost Kana. Stuff that I'll never read again despite loving it: Saikano. It's just not something you ever read more than once.

In Goblin Slayer shit got serious. Like trying to get one over Berserk. Meat shields
On top of THAT, some women seem to have metal armor in shape of bikini and without gambeson underneath ::)

Should I check out Goblin Slayer?

Should I check out Goblin Slayer?
If you're fan of Berserk & Gate manga because of all the gorn (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Gorn) and dislike/hate anime because "the best parts" are cut/censored, then Goblin Slayer is for you. This is The Shit O0
-
Well, those stuff simply enhance the story; so the real question is does Goblin Slayer have real meat?
Also reading Berserk really put me into a mood for my TW: Warhammer and fighting beastmen and chaos....
-
Well, those stuff simply enhance the story; so the real question is does Goblin Slayer have real meat?
I'm not best at analyzing such things. But what i see, characters do have some depth. Goblin Slayer himself gets decent amount of frames about his background and what led him to where he is. TVtropes says this:
Heavily inspired by tabletop role-playing games, the whole story spawned from the author, Kumo Kagyu, asking himself "What would a fantasy world be like if it were home to an adventurer who only hunted goblins?" And the rest as they say, was history.
Goblins themselves aren't your typical bottom-of-barrel mooks as they are often represented in CRPGs. They are much closer to Tucker's kobolds (http://tuckerskobolds.com/)
-
Should I check out Goblin Slayer?
Its a pretty good story. The MC is very good at what he does, not through some amazing natural talent or imbued power, but because he has relentlessly and tirelessly striven to slay goblins. He plans, thinks, tries new methods and adopts those that work and discards what does not. He has no ego. None of his weapons or armor are glitzy even though he is considered a high level adventurer. Fame and treasure mean little or nothing to him.
When the manga and light novels begin he encounters a young priestess and she winds up joining this solo warrior, and the process of him coming out of his shell begins. One nice thing about this so far is that, although there come to be a few female characters joining with Goblin Slayer there is really no harem vibe.
The manga is far more graphic than the light novels.

The primary manga I'm still getting is Case Closed...while it's only been published since 1994 (still ongoing last I heard), it has over 90 volumes published in Japan...I think the latest I've gotten here in the States was vol 63 (whatever was released in the last couple months)...I have about 120+ episodes of the anime (the five season sets released so far in the States), and 5 or 6 of the movies (again, whatever's been released in the States), but it has had some 850+ tv episodes, 20+ movies and a number of OVA's released in Japan...

Well, I'm reading Volume 39 right now, so... yes. It exists. Would you like a link to the current translation group? Or does that count as piracy?

finally caught up on battle angel alita/gunnm mars chronicles....
is it my imagination that his artwork had been slipping to something less when he started her off? stories after the motor ball seem to had gone down to the dragon ball type stories...

Giving a try to A Bride's Story (Otoyomegatari). Interesting history, generally i like historical mangas, even if the are of the "romantical" kind.

"A Bride's Story" is a great series. Kaoru Mori writes great slice-of-life and romance period pieces. Have all the current volumes released through Yen Press ( 1 to 8 ). Volume 9 is coming out in September IIRC.
If you end up liking Bride's Story, I recommend Mori's earlier work Emma (Aka: Victorian Romance Emma) if you have not read it yet.
-
Looks like I may have to start a couple more series shortly...according to the new Previews, in about three months, a hardcover, two volume Queen Emeraldas series and a Space Pirate Captain Harlock series are supposed to be starting...

Will give a try to Emma. I like the interconnected histories, but i have to admit that i love the way she draw the traditional local vestments, and i am using it to mine material for a future stage of my Greyhawk RPG campgain (some part will happen in a Persian/Arabian nights type of place).

The New Gate
This is a Fantasy Adventure story, with main character sucked into VR he was playing. However it's nor game anymore. It does give a Overlord feel to it, but it's has more differences. Apparently the player have been gone for centuries in game play but things got real. I know this is a story told many times before, but i enjoyed this. It has balance of thought out and interesting plot and dramatic moments mixed into touch of comedy.

Pandora in the Crimson Shell
by Masamune Shirow (Author), Rikudou Koushi (Illustrator)
any one had read it yet?
-
Watched the anime, was fun. Mostly a fun project throwing together various Masamune Shirow gynoid concepts from the last 30 years.
-
Same here, i saw the anime. I hadn't known it was manga. I miss Masamune Shirow , i wish he was still doing new stuff.

Well he is, Pandora in the Crimson Shell is his writing (absolutely love the manga), it's just Rikdou's art. Masamune still puts out a lot of artbooks, if you're into softcore erotica...... :-X

so worth getting my claws on it?

...Of extremely misproportioned women... and some stuff that's not so softcore. "Scantily clad woman, unclad woman, unclad woman, scantily clad woman, horseman doing WHAT to that woman?!"
But Pandora in the Crimson Shell is definitely something that I'm thinking about picking up. I like Koshi Rikdou's non-mecha art a lot more than Shirow's (if I'm being, like, totally honest here), and Shirow always does good storylines. the anime was very cute, but just haven't gotten around to the manga. Yet.

After a few days of burning some sleep-hours, i finally finished 3x3 eyes. It has been years since i wanted to read that serie completly! 1987-2002, thats a lot of volumes....

I have read something funny about Goblin Slayer:
If this was instead a manga about cute high school girls doing something, people would be having a ******* meltdown and screaming their heads off about "sexualization," "pedophilia," "pandering" and "moeshit," but when it comes to rape nobody has any issues.
Censored the f-bomb. And I seriously laughed at that :))
Great majority of fantasy works are ... how Frodo put it? Something about tales about great adventures, heroic deeds, and whatnot. The stuff like Hercules (Heracles?), Knights of the round table, and Lord of the Rings. Goblin Slayer is almost like fantasy equivalent of All Quiet on the Western Front (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_Quiet_on_the_Western_Front), Apocalypse Now Redux (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalypse_Now_Redux), and Stalingrad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalingrad_(1993_film)), which leaves several (human) characters raped, dead, and broken in various ways.
-
I like Dungeon Meshi more. I prefer maybe about 20-30% drama, not 90%. But that's just me, and I know that other people have different tastes.

Ever since I got my tablet, I've been reading a LOT of manga - mostly stuff I'd already read, but one thing that had been sitting on my to-read list for I'm not sure how many years and I finally got around to was My Lovely Ghost Kana.
The basic premise is simple: One sunset, a woman decides to kill herself so she doesn't have to face another lonely night. Three years later, her ghost meets the love of her afterlife when a man moves into the apartment she's haunting.
It has... a lot of sex, and some great gags related to sex (at one point, she literally starts floating in the air, only to drop him mid-coitus). But I'd say it's not a hentai manga because the focus isn't really on the sex, it's on the romance of two adults discovering each other.
Only 3 volumes long, so it's not a deep dive, but it's well worth it.

Picked up the final volume of Sacred Blacksmith. It really wrapped up well.

The manga is far longer than the anime, and has 10 volumes...there are several differences...I still need to get the last volume...

angel densetsu
manga about a boy with such an evil looking face that makes any one seeing him assume that he is nothing but the most evil creature to walk the earth. which happens to be total opposite of his personality...
old but still fun to read there was an anime for one episode made out of it.

Anyone know what the story is for Knight's and Magic manga? Wikipedia says it was supposed to be on Crunchyroll though can't find any additional information on if this is correct.
-
I do, i follow the manga where i can find it. The problem right now is the anime is cruising ahead of where i left off.
It does look like they skimmed some development time of the three main characters, which i was little disappointed.

How bad does anime cut off? Is it as bad/much as in Gate?
The spirit of the book there, but alot development that lead to him becoming engineer were completely skimmed away. Manga goes into when first meet his friends and couple adventures they went on sort of as he became gadgeteer. Then drama at the school before he even touched the a Knight and went on that fateful where mc finally got to show off his stuff and used the cowardly Knight Runner's Knight.
-
So I've been reading EVEN MORE manga these last few months - I'm under a crapton of stress trying to find us a place to live before I get kicked out on September first (would you believe I've got 11 grand in the bank, more money than I've ever had, and STILL can't find a home to rent that will take cats?) and manga's been one of the rare escapes.
Little Witch's Collier is great. The backstory is, I think, that witches (psychics, really) were persecuted along with Jews/Romani/homosexuals during WW2, but because there were so much fewer of them they were almost extinguished - so one of the last ones, a 6-8 year old girl, is kept for her own safety in a giant French castle, wearing a collar to suppress her power. A male teacher comes in from America, and she starts to feel less trapped... It's a nice 3-volume bundle, not long at all.
Shokugeki no Souma: Aside from the ridiculous premise that this is a high school (it honestly feels more like a highly specialized college!) it's awesome. I never would have thought that cooking battles in a school would be so engrossing, but the characters are so genuinely enjoyable, and the ecchi moments right after eating food are somehow hilarious.
Nurse Hitomi's Monster Infirmary: At first I thought, "Oh golly gee, another monster girl manga, how boorish..." but if the unstated message of Interviews with Monster Girls is "It's okay to be different," then Monster Infirmary's message is "Let your freak flag fly! Be as different as possible!" In this world, everyone mutates into some sort of monster when they hit puberty, and that allows some good gags as well as good moments that feel genuine - we all remember that awkward moment when our bodies started changing, now imagine that you suddenly grew a 12-foot tongue or extra pair of arms?
Dr Slump was Akira Toriyama's breakout thing, and man... I actually don't like it much. I think I laughed once a volume in a genuine fashion, which ain't good for a gag manga. I prefer Dragonball, at least that meshed gags with an ongoing story.
Dance in the Vampire Bund frustrated me intensely. Not because it was bad - quite the opposite! - but because the main storyline ENDED WITHOUT FULL RESOLUTION. It doesn't shy away from nudity and the classic trope vampires are sexual beings while being asexual - most of chapter 2 involved a nearly-naked loli vampire tearing apart humans in hand to hand - but the story was good enough that it kept me reading. Sigh, i need to find the later volumes.
Just finished up to volume 6 of Ancient Magus' Bride. A little girl that can see and attract spirits is purchased by a half-human, half-fae wizard as an apprentice and wife? So much good folklore in here. One great touch is how normally proportioned the human women are, whereas the fae women are... well... as exaggerated as any normal anime woman.
My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness is tear-jerking. It's strange, usually I hate the kind of self-pity manga, but the fact that she combines it with rough-edged semi-chibi art is just a perfect contrast. Plus, lesbians. Note: some chapters have nudity and one has sex, but really... it's kind of not what it's about.
I got bored of One Piece around volume... 16, I think? When they pick up Chopper? I think the only reason I kept reading was for the little one-page stories of the other characters that were at the start of most chapters. I was honestly skimming past the fights, and it seemed as though more and more fighting was coming up.
Ditto that for another classic, Yu Yu Hakusho. When the main character was a ghost, waiting to get back to his body, and there was a healthy bit of horror/mystery with the gags, conflicting with his "meathead punch harder!" personality? Great. When they started to climb some tower of baddies and had to fight them one by one - and a former bad guy was suddenly their friend? Boorrrrrriiiing.
The One Punch Man manga, on the other hand, was really, really good. I think I liked it better than the anime because I could easily move past the fighting scenes which bored me. But that spot in Volume 7 where there were literally 12 double pages of a single punch was... just... glorious.
I think... I think I'm starting to become bored of shonen punchypunchy, that last example aside. I'm not sure when it happened, but I can remember the clearest example of it starting: When I was watching the Danmachi anime and I literally skipped past the minotaur fight the MC fought just before he ranked up. I mean, he wins, yes, that's nice, now let me see what happens after. I think that's my problem with Gunnm Last Order. I want Gally's backstory and to see more of how the solar system functions, not punchypunchy big tournament crap.
Next on my docket: My Hero Academia, Sacred Blacksmith, and rereading Marmalade Boy.
-
New silly manga i found to read while i wait between reps at the gym: Danberu nan kiro moteru? or How Many Kilos are the Dumbbells You Lift? . Silly and fun history, good fitness advices, and the faces the artist draw are very funny.

New volume of Spice & Wolf dropped last month. This manga is EASILY my third favorite of all time - nothing touches the transcendent joy and tranquil wonder of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and Isaki of the Cub, but S&W...might as well be up there with them in my personal Trinity.

Did someone complain about fight scenes? This one doesn't have that many, so it should be an obvious choice to those who don't have interest for fighting.
-

I think the manga is a bit better (both are good) as the heroine has no compulsion against killing.
-

Can confirm, much of it is the protagonists thinking their way out of a dilemma, which is always a nice touch - and especially the utterly perfect back and forth with Craft and Holo

Any info on why CR has manga listed for Knights and Magic as well as Restaurant to Another World but neither will pull up?

For Restaurant to Another World the question's been raised in their forum a couple times the last six weeks or so. It's only the web version that doesn't work btw, in the app and via RSS it apparently works fine.

So have to get yet another app for my phone... bleh...

Better believe it, it's my favorite of all manga/webcomics out there. It's so damn funny and still has strong backbone of a story there with all those tropes & games. I love how the author likes to troll characters.

Volune 3 of the Goblin Slayer light novel released Tuesday and I finished it last night. Very much enjoying this story. It is provng that yu don't need to think up fancy names for your characters and still have an engaging story; we have Goblin Slayer, Priestess, Guild Girl, Cow Girl, Spearman, Female Knight, Dwarf Shaman, Witch, Elf Ranger, etc etc ;D

...Cow Girl? I hope that has to do with her profession.....

I finished reading most of the MuvLuv manga series, Muvluv, Muvluv Unlimited and Alternate (mostly).
Essentially, its very different from what I've seen of the anime.
Manga is based on started as a love triangle/our main male characters, a childhood friend and heiress. It's normal school comedy essentially, until in Unlimited he wakes up in alternate universe. Outside of his intact room and ruined house is that the city of Yokahama is in ruins. Everyone he knows doesn't know him. One of his friend doppelganger is a girl instead of a boy. His class mates are all soldiers cadets to fight invasion by the Beta (Barbaric Extra Terrestrial Aliens). Our young hero isn't soldier, but he manages to convince his teacher who instructor at let him join this training base and that he is from another universe. In the original world, she is infact a scientist who was taking a break and was doing teacher gig. Here she scientist / instructor and just as crazy/smart.
Essentially, the story goes on main character life on this alternate world, trying make due since he isn't sure he could back. Basically he tries help out where he can. His life playing a video game mecha game gives him better hand coordination abilities his fellow cadets.
Muvluv Alternates is Ground Hog day. Our main character survives 3 years and dies with rest of humanity who was left behind by colonist effort save some people. His chosen wife survives with a child. However for some reason he returns to back where he started but he has 3 years of experiences and his physical body is combat able. He has to relive his time when he arrived from his old world, but begins alternate the course of events. He soon finds out, nature of his being in the past and possiblity to return to his original world and get key perhaps save humanity of this world.
Its alot better than anime, i didn't like the horror aspect of the BETA. Fan service is toned down in Alternate, but its more apparently in the earlier unlimited which is a self-contained story.
I didn't think i liked it, but it good.

ok since i am sick and my friend dropped off ALL dead tree editions of blade of the immortal some in japaniese and english guess who is going to be reading all that this weekend?

Yes, she works on a farm. :D

Essentially, its very different from what I've seen of the anime.
The manga is closely based off the original (h) visual novel from 2003 - which runs the same way.
The anime is based off of the spinoff Total Eclipse novel adaption by Enterbrain, which takes on the setting of Alternative with a new cast. The Muv-Luv Alternative manga was actually written after the Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse novel series started. Total Eclipse mangas were published too, with a second manga series for that (Total Eclipse: Rising) coming when the first anime series aired.

Guessing it will involve Eren having to defeat Zeke to use the Coordinate. That's my call
I think they said in 2014 the story would end in 3 years. So should be over soon.
-
That was quite a development in Tomo.
-
How does it compare with anime? Better? Worse? Which one was first?
its more charater driven has a longer story few things that never made to anime since anime was made before series ended but it is a good read.
-
I recently came across what i suspect is very old manga. I think it came out in the 1960s. It's authorized adaption of Ian Flemming's 007 novels Live and Let Die, Thunderball, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and The Man with the Golden Gun. I perhaps am guilty having never read Mr. Flemming novels. However the manga certainly draws a different picture of the events I knew from the movies. I've only read couple chapters but it's certainly interesting with some dark twists of humor in there.

At least one couple is going somewhere. Carol has the guy in the hook now, let's see will she reel him in like her mother did.

Yeeeeeah..... #P Some of the states allow such things as well in the USA. Had to look it up because of a comment.

I thought they were already engaged for marriage ???

Carol was going for it! But then mom comes to interrupt >:(
Oh, that's right! She wants to keep Carol for herself!

I've been following a manga named Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu which is translated as "Moon-led Journey Across Another World".
Yes. Its one those Another World themed ones, but this is bit more...twisted in a way. it's comedy, fantasy, but the hero who was summoned to server the Goddess of this world was REJECTED by her, utterly dropped on edge of the world. Fortunately the god who had relayed him from the Earth world, made sure he was enhanced enough to survive.
I've read number chapters and so far it's a fun series read for the comedy aspect of it. The stories so far have been clever.
-
damn i really have t go through a lot of the stuff i hae
uzumaki
and the live movie based on the manga
have too say it movie was done better than some of the blockbusters with huge budgets...

I have mentioned this one few times before. It is something different, all right. Main character, Makoto, was supposed to be a hero to save the world, but as Wrangler says above... Makoto holds serious grudge about that and his goal is to punch the goddess. Characters are great. One is a big dragon with ability to read memories and takes huge interest to Makoto's memories. Then she changes shape to a human, starts doing samurai cosplay, and goes on to nearly uncontrolled rampage to promote Japanese culture from the Edo period. Fans of the (translated) Web novels joke that building a Japanese style hot springs bath ("HOT SPRINGS!") was her top priority and killing a fellow dragon was a side quest.
I have but one major complaint: this story (Web novel, light novels, manga...) pander to wish fulfillment of Japanese otaku, where male lead is approached by a number of undesirable women (http://img.bato.to/comics/2017/06/17/m/read5945828652962/img000015.jpg) and never gets laid >:(

Picked up the first three volumes of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure at the local book shop yesterday. Lovin it. O0

Tomo-chan. Oh my goodness. The latest chapter....
Jin: Tomo, wake up.
Tomo: Huh?
You said to get some rest...
Jin: Explain this.

Isn't that a healthy portion of the mid-late Gate stuff, too? Itami has picked up a tidy harem by now and hasn't 'picked one' as it were - the scene with Itami and Rori in the quarantine room was hilarious but DID kind of bring up that question somewhat forcefully...
I recently read all of Flying Witch and it's pretty good. I was immediately struck by the idea of magical flying whales with ancient ruins atop them and no one really knows who lived there. And it was just a one chapter thing, a little bit of whimsy in a manga full of whimsy.
-
It's bit hybrid manga/Webcomic, 4 Cut Hero, fantasy-ish adventure comedy. I just caught up with chapter 86. This guys blends Tex Avery wit with shounen comedy. It's pretty hilarious. Sadly part of it is pay to view but earlier ones are free to view which is cool.

Stumbled on the animated ad for Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtt7pTwBPVU) entirely by accident and ended up picking up the manga. It's a cute little semi-educational manga about anthropomorphized human cells maintaining body functions.
Unfortunately, I also can no longer see white corpuscles as anything besides tiny overly intense sociopathic knife murderers (https://abload.de/img/chapter001page26wxuii.png) now.

Yeah that explain the autoimmune syndrome just as well. Cross one little signal....and the psycho cells start attacking your other cells.

Just read the latest chapter(s) (25.1 and 25.2) of It's My Life.
It is rather rainy today.
-
Just read the last chapters of Jitsu wa Watashi wa (Actually, I am...) " also known as My Monster Secret.
It was nicely done, artist showing his skills as artist and his comedy bomb shells he like drop on the readers with weird funny twisted turn of events. Crew now graduated, but i wonder if he will do another series while their in college.
One can only hope! Funny book with great art.
-
I rather enjoyed the anime, might have to check out the manga.

Just finished the last chapter of Princess Jellyfish. great read. Editors and the author doesn't know why it's popular in USA. XD

One Finnish rock (pop? Whatev) band gained some popularity in Japan. They were asked how they pulled it off. They don't know. 8)

well you have to go to the manga to finish rest of the story. Obviously, the anime followed the manga up to a point then season/series end.

So I tried reading How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend. Talk about a lousy manga. Couldn't even get halfway through the first volume.
Right now I'm in volume 5 of the LN for My Big Sister Lives in a Fantasy World. I really don't know WHY I keep reading it. It's not very good. Not BAD, but not good either. I mean, I can see WHY it has the standard tropes, because it's pretty obvious - basically the main character's big sister is Haruhi Suzumiya except that she WANTS supernatural adventures in her life, and she sees her little brother as the big damn hero that has them. So she inserts the tropes into his life - a growing harem, ridiculous martial arts, and so on - then watches him deal with it.
It has some vaguely interesting ideas about how EVERYONE is the main character of a story until their story collides with someone else's - then they either absorb or are absorbed by that other person's story. So Big Sister's story collides with other stories and then whoops them because she sees her little brother as invincible.
-

Is it isekai genre?
I used to know only handful of those: Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, Magic Knight Rayearth, and maybe couple others. Now it looks like Japan alone makes craptons of that genre every month. What the Hell?
-
Isekai has been the leading light novel genre for around 5-6 years now, to the point that Kadokawa banned isekai stories from its rookie novelist competition this year because they have more than enough of them!
-
Is it isekai genre?
It's chuunibyou genre pretty much and not set in any parallel world.
-
I wonder what will come next with manga. I do enjoy Iseka stories, but we need something else in the mix too.

Just learned that Seventh Seas just got a license for this particular manga. The official English title is now "Plus-Sized Elf". See if you can figure out which series that is about before looking it up!

ANN had a news bit about it a couple of weeks ago.
I've looked through scanlations of this unique manga just to see what it was about. If it was just a one or two-off thing, it was interesting. But I stopped just before the fifth 'client' was introduced. Intriguing and headdesking at the same time.
-
Left out the title from my post. "official English title". Sigh.
-
I read "Plus-Sized Elf and i think its ok. Its essentially slice of life comedy-health manga.

Hataraku Saibou.
Well.....I finally found that manga where they made characters out of the human body's cells.

Went to the local B&N to get the latest volume (65) of Case Closed, but had to order it instead as they didn't have it...
What they did have was the first volume of Card Captor Sakura Clear Card...
They also had a hardcover of Record of Lodoss War: The Grey Witch, but as that was almost $30 for a single book, I decided against that purchase...

i recently suffered some loses in my move to anew place lost some things to breakage some stuff i cannot get but some i can and did replace in particular akira and complete set of ah goddess as well as original collection of gits (these items will be missed)
i had been going there for ages even before it was changed to mitsuwa market shopping center to get my manga and anime needs...so any one in edgewater nj can hit it...the book store there carries a alot of manga mags like shonen and the like in a lot of cases both japaniese and english. i had to recently this weekend replace my 6 volume set of akira thanks to my move and some unfortunate accidents. i had not been there in a year or so but the trip there was worth it was able to tag few things for some of my friends and was surprised that a lot of old school stuff was available....particular set that caught my eye was please save my earth complete set both in japaniese and english and was very much surprised to see some one walk out before i could get my claws on it lum all volumes ...(lucky stiff)
but thanks to my trip there i had been re reading my akira manga and my set does include production report with all the merchendising stuff that came around the akira franchise...something i did not had before. i did not know there was a pinball game made ...damn now i really either want one or play one!

Reading Goblin Slayer again. This particular part gets to me every time I see it.
Once upon a time, in the days when the stars shone far fewer in the sky than they do now...
The Gods of Light and Order and Destiny vied with the Gods of Darkness and Chaos and Chance to see who would control the Universe.
They waged this struggle with dice. There were victories and defeats, but there was no resolution. The Gods tired of dice, so they created pawns and a board to place them on. They created a world and the many tribes therein. These pawns adventure. They achieve victory, suffer defeat, find treasure or happiness, and ultimately, they die.
In time the Gods came to love these characters and their doings. The dice fall against them sometimes, but so it goes. Into this world there appeared one particular adventurer. He was an unexceptional young man. A male warrior with no distinguishing traits at all. All of the Gods liked him...but great things were not expected of him.
But this adventurer was a little different from others. He was always thinking, strategizing, and acting. He did not let the Gods roll the dice. He was not highborn, not especially capable. Neither did he have any "cheating" powers. This rather surprised the Gods. He would not save the world. He might not even change anything. He was just another pawn.
...Even so, he did not let the Gods roll the dice. Hence, even the Gods did not know how his adventures would end.
His fight goes on, somewhere even now.

It's not. It's fantasy. Medieval manga are Vagabond (Miyamoto Musashi), Vinland Saga (vikings!), and Otomo Sensou (Hussite Wars).

Its a way of speaking. I am not saying that is a "historical" manga, like the ones you listed, or Historie, for example.

ok looking for an old manga cant remember the title but story goes something like this....and it is not by rumico takahashi

Even though I haven't started reading it yet, ( I ordered the first arc and it should be arriving soon) I'm preparing to start "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure". I've heard good things, so, fingers crossed!

In case anyone cares to know, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom has made it into manga. It begins like an old CRPGame (said so in light novel itself):
I kid you not! Otherwise protagonist is different kind of hero who doesn't take significant part to fighting (character class: administrator; NOT fighter). I quote you light novel:
“It is said that a hero is ‘one who leads the change of an era,’”
That he does. Cliches and tropes abound, but occasionally protagonist goes straight against them in most surprising ways. And it is GOOD! At least light novels are...

er hasn't that been in manga for a while?

Dunno. Just found out it yesterday.

It has the expected violence, but is a bit too derivative while not really fitting with the rest of the existing setting.
So, meh...

I just discovered, Marry Grave. It's art is darn nearly same as the Seven Deadly Sins manga. Story of slightly crazy widowed husband looking for items to resurrect his Bride. Humor is good, the story perhaps silly at times and elements of dark are balanced. It's more Adventure/Comedy if anything else, it's enjoyable.

Well considering that's all FUNi had the rights too. But not anymore (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2018-05-04/funimation-case-closed-kenichi-the-mightiest-disciple-licenses-expire/.131202).
And outside of Crunchy's streaming, could you honestly expect anyone to physically release a now 900 ep ongoing series? Considering how long it took to get the original LotGH series released here? I can't really expect anyone pulling the trigger on that.

Check Hidive for it, it was part of their Beta launch portfolio.
Unless you want to spend what will probably pretty much immediately be at least a four-figure sum on Sentai's DVD box release of which a limited-edition run of 1,000 units is announced to retail for 800 USD in July this year.

Chapter 148 for UQ Holder came recently. The chapter reveals the big mystery about the how the timeline of original manga split from current one and what really tragically went down.
-
Just discovered a new manga i've caught up on, "So I'm a spider, what about it?"
As the name translate, it suggests this is another world/reborn Isekai comedy. It's not quite comedy.
It's about a loner teenage girl who finds herself reborn after something accruing in school that killed her and her classmates.
She reborn as a Demon Spider, not a human. Where it's survival of the fitness in the dark depths of continent like dungeon of monsters.
Where forced to survive by wit and skills, where she does get some game like skills coming up once in a while and nearly dying many times.
I've enjoyed it despite it being another reborn/another world Isekai book (which is something I've enjoyed since sci-fi / space operas are dead essentially).
-

So I got to about Volume 5 of Detective Conan, and I made a bet with myself: That I can skip ten volumes and it'll be almost completely unchanged. I mean, yeah, it's kind of the point, that's how it's gone on for what, 60 volumes, but man it's kinda... well... samey.
So instead I started reading Aho Girl. And stopped because my asthma is acting up and it's very, very dangerous to laugh - last year the treasure coin gag in Dungeon Meshi almost killed me.
So now I'm at loose ends. Can't read funny stuff, not really in a mood for serious stuff, and I'm caught up in the shonen action that I was following (UQ Holder).

PD: Loved the "enhaced" ending for Emma.

Man, last arc (still on-going?) in Goblin Slayer was intense fight after another. Newest chapter (#24) is all about recovering and what comes with it. Also some signs of romance.

I started reading manga named Raisekamika. It's interesting one, art is fantastic. People who were are powerful being reborn and rediscoverying themselves as well teenager.

Just found another work of Kaoru Mori, Shirley. Very beautiful history. But to feel a little manlier after that, and get the Marian in me, i just began to read Thermae Romae by Mari Yamazaki. Very funny comic, and recomended for those who like Roman history. Will try to get the live action movie someday.

I started reading a semi-old manga called, Seiten Taisen Flieder Bug. It was published in 1999 and it's classified as a Shounen/Kaijiu/SuperRobot manga.
Set in the future where resources have become scariest, but not in mad max sort of way. Where there is battle for domination of the remaining resources, key part turns out to be number titan like super robots. It's pretty cool, if you can find it.

Well... Hataraku Saibou BLACK (https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/392/873/7a8.jpg) is legit a thing.
While Hataraku Saibou (Cells at Work) is a wholesome educational kids basic biology masquerading as a Shonen action manga, Hataraku Saibou BLACK is just straight up bleak. Also adult as all heck. Where Hataraku Saibou covered the basic processes of a normal functioning body, BLACK is set in the body of an overweight, overworked male slowly keeling over from stress, and just from the symptoms alone, we can clearly see they drown themselves in cigarettes, gluttony, alcohol and... prostitutes.
The main leads are genderflipped versions of the Hataraku Saibou cast, with an overworked, exhausted male red corpuscle and a female white blood cell with a shredded uniform and a thousand yard stare. The manga's tone is likewise grim in nature, featuring red blood cells fleeing to avoid being smothered by nicotine, piles of dead cells building up pus in abscesses as a broken, despairing macrophage goes through the motions of clearing them as bodies arrive faster than she can remove them, cytotoxic T-cells turning on the body due to stress creating spot baldness (and having a nervous breakdown), alcohol poisoning wrecking the liver and STDs.
Yes, STDs. Specifically gonorrhea. (The artist plainly wanted to drawn a hentai scene with the white corpuscles and clearly jumped at the fact that gonorrhea aggressively invaded leukocytes.)
Hataraku Saibou BLACK is a bitter look on a body well along the highway to hell with an almost post-apocalyptic tone and a despairingly black (no pun intended) sense of humor. It's not something I'd recommend casually to anyone, with it's casual nudity, adult subject matter and overly grim tone, but it's like a trainwreck that I can't look away from.
For an officially licensed spinoff, it's great, in an absolutely horrible way and more than able to stand on it's own feet with a fresh, if downright depressing take on the anthropomorphic biology genre.
-

Reminds me about a certain episode in Once upon a time... Life. Except without STD and cells don't wear clothes.
Imagine a hyper-violent post apocalyptic hybrid of Once Upon A Time... Life and Osmosis Jones if Bill Murray's character was a Japanese Salaryman who was a slave to his vices.
The original manga plays the whole bright happy 'anthropomorphic cell' trope (https://cdn.animenewsnetwork.com/thumbnails/max650x650/cms/news/126644/visual.jpg) entirely straight and is currently screening an anime adaptation.
BLACK on the other hand just cranks the whole thing up to 11 (https://78.media.tumblr.com/b0d636a83ef3c6214bab6a8f7371703d/tumblr_pbikwvBJrP1x274kho1_1280.jpg).

Just read nice twist in the Isekai (Another World) theme manga, Class ga Isekai Shoukan sareta Naka Ore dake Nokotta n desu ga
Essentially, A god of a different world had abruptly appeared in Kamiya Yato's classroom and forcibly summoned the entire class to his world... except for him So he's running around with OP powers of Fantasy hero in the Real world, however something going wrong with real world as elements of that fantasy world is bleeding into it.

In this week I have binged through Gunota ga Mahou Sekai ni Tensei shitara, Gendai Heiki de Guntai Harem wo Tsukucchaimashita!? It's a mouthful, so let's call it Gunota for short. Isekai story of reincarnation variety with few interesting twists. So Japanese guy is stabbed to death and he is reborn in a fantasy world ruled by magicians (does this sound familiar?). He makes firearms and recruits number of monster girls to wield them. There are a number of cliches and tropes you'd expect, but good number of them are averted and subverted. This guy even has interest for romance and he proposes to #1 girl! And she befriends with other girls close to the guy! You didn't see that coming, did you?
Even though he has some magical assets to work with, making of guns isn't that easy: his first gun (S&M M10) explodes when fired and perfecting assault rifle (AK47) takes him several years. Gun fights are comparable to Black Lagoon: equally ridiculous. Racial traits are used to good extent: loli vampire with a rifle (Remington Model 700P) in high ground is VERY bad news. As one beastman words it:
We're stuck.
If we move even an inch...
We become a target.
It's just limbs for now,
But we don't know when she'll decide to start shooting to kill.
A chill, just like the Grim Reaper brushing his hand by your cheek...
And that Reaper is...
Just like...
an angel
The mistress has no talent?
Bullshit! She's worse than the master!
This may not be equal to The familiar of Zero, but certainly is above the average in isekai genre. Recommended!
WARNING!
Contains gun porn!

This one i ran into. Art not so great, but it's funny. I think the Isekai (another world) thing come to a finish.
This manga is called Isekai Transporter, it's comedy of duo of truck driver and supernatural girl teamed as part of a delivery service send needed heros to another worlds who are questing help.

I started reading odd ball manga called, Maou-jou de Oyasumi also known as the Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle.
This is comedy/fantasy. Where this princess is kidnapped by demon king's forces and being held as hostage.
However Princess isn't interested in being rescued, she interested in sleeping. She does what she wants at the comical expense of the demons, who seem to be unable stop her rampaging across the castle for her needs.
If you want laugh, this is good one to with.

Oh yes, this one is GREAT. I especially love how she keeps stealing the things that the Hero 'needs' in order to rescue her!
But this next one... sorry, Matti.

That sounded really interesting up until the point where you started talking about exact copies of modern guns.
Is he a master chemist, a master gunsmith, AND teleports over to his new world with a fully fledged machine shop that has a specialization in firearms?
*reads the first volume* Hmmm, just as I suspected, it's magic! Yay, magic solves all problems!
Feh. *closes manga*
For a much more realistic view of guns in fantasy isekai, about 30 years ago there was an American book series called, uh... Defenders of the Flame? Guardians? Some college students transferred into their not-D&D characters. Through a series of events one guy re-enters the world not as his character but as HIMSELF and brings a bunch of books, one of which allows him to make guns... flintlocks with black powder, because they lacked the technology to make the technology to refine the technology to MAKE better guns.
I would have been far, FAR more interested in an isekai story that went along those lines. An experienced gunsmith enters and is continually frustrated by the fact that he can only make crude muskets and basic flintlocks, while everyone around him is in awe that a barely-trained soldier can fell a knight or ogre with a single shot - the power of a mage's Magic Missile in the hands of every Joe Blow, which is the real 'magic' of guns.
Instead it's just fanservice all the way instead of being a possibly interesting look at the evolution of firearms. Sorry, Matti, not interested, and I hate sounding so negative but... I wanted to explain why I was disappointed.
I've been reading Fire Emblem: Genealogy of The Holy War, which is a straight retelling of the old SNES game but better because you don't actually have to PLAY it to get the story - which was the best part of Genealogy anyway. It's one of those 'classic' games - like the NES Metroid or Castlevania - which inspired a lot of great ideas and nostalgia, but if you play it now it only reminds you of how much it pissed you off.
I really hope they remake it, but in the meantime the manga is an okay substitute, especially with how Ethlynn stands in for all the shippers marrying characters off in the game and adding comedy to the rather serious plot. The flowery mid-90s shojo style really suits it, too; reminds me of... gods, what was the name of that manga, where the protagonist is the sister of the 'fated hero' who died, and she's pretending to be him as they overthrow the evil overlord?
-

Try Drifters. Some of the characters are indeed firearms experts for their era and go through a host of problems creating the infrastructure for basic matchlocks - sourcing acids, nitrates, metals, production, wood, all of it. The hero(ish) types end up turning the oppressed elves into an army that way, at least up to the point I'd read.

Did I say something about magical assets? Yes I did. And it takes him more than little magic to get the guns done. Like several years of experiments.

I agree with fan service. Still provides some interesting trivia about guns I didn't know before, though to lesser extent than Web novel (manga has pictures though). Gunpowder substitute is total magic phlebotinum though. It's still fun to see fantasy monsters getting pwned by modern firearms. And some of the artwork is really good (https://file-comic-99.anyacg.co/uploads/5b56a6ae717b964060ed94bd/7fb6bc8d8b6989a3c9d60092119a24843ba41b3e_184845_1111_1600.jpg).
[edit]
Also male lead gets married with several girls and they sleep together (manga isn't that far yet)
[edit2]
Shoutout to #1 girl. Cliche is that #1 girl gets all jealous and even violent when male lead so much as speaks to another girl, but in Gunota #1 girl is total opposite: she trust the guy not to cheat on her and even befriends other girls/women close to him.

Blame! - an very impressive and stylish Manga
Kingdom - Background is story of the / Warring Realms and he first Chinese emperor.
-
About Goblin Slayer:
Also some signs of romance.
This one went up a level: platinum ranked heroine is totally swooning at front of Goblin Slayer. Reminds me about bard's tale:
And the princess reaches out to her rescuer, her friend.
But he is Goblin Slayer! In no place does he abide...
...But sworn to wander, shall not have another by his side.
-
Goblin Slayer noticing female attention? Not going to happen while there are still goblins to slay.

A fun recent release: The "True Tenchi Muyo" light novels. Fans of the classic anime OAV and manga series will definitely appreciate this. They were released in Japan almost 20 years ago and have only now been translated into English and officially released.
Volume 1 covers the backstory of Emperor Azusa, father to Yoshu, Ayeka, and Sasami, and his rise to the throne of Jurai.
Volume 2 is Yosho's story, exploring his motivation in exiling himself to Earth.
Volume 3 (to be released March 2019) delves into Washuu's past.
-
I'd love read manga retelling of Tenchi through these light novels. The m more recent OVAs which was stagnet and boring, id like them recapturing the old energy and fun of original run of anime / OVA.s

Suichuu Kishi / Aqua Knight by Kishiro Yukito (Battle Angel Alita)

Wait, the spoiler tags work again?
Yes spoilers have been working for several months now...

I have found a new manga with a twist on the usual isekai setup:
Regarding That We Decided to Live in the Countryside With The Female Knight Who Came to Us
A female knight falls through some sort of portal to a rural farm in modern day Japan. The man who finds her thinks she's a foreign cosplayer or just mad. I like it so far.
-
Reverse isekai? Okay, I'll look it up. Thanks!
[edit}
Found it. Given the look of knight's armour, man could as well have assumed her to be historical re-enactor. Though history buffs knowledgeable about armours would find something wrong in the design.
-
Looks like Funimation broke off their ties with CrunchyRoll. So rough water ahead. I was trying read latest chapters of UQ Holder, but they haven't posted much later and frankly the chapters broken. Looks like supplies of manga / anime are trying startup their own thing.
-
I found good other world title which is a comedy and seems to be slightly different from the other Iseka seeries i've read. This one translates roughly into The Misfortunes of Local Knight Hans. Its comedy but not off the wall kind. Essentially something is randomly summoning Japanese people to this fantasy setting world. Everyone has unique trait, i do group of people. They are bit on usually powerful but useful kind. So far it's good.

Found a new manga, not into this particular genre but this one pretty action pack.
This is called Girls' Frontline, premise is mankind basically had disaster causing the environment to increasingly become toxic to humanlife outdoors. As resources dwindle, war breaks out, man becomes more reliant on new technology of AI and combat robotics. You may tell where this is going. Essentially this is manga about female orientated Robot Dolls who are fighting for sake of their organizations.
Latest generation AI goes haywire, causing conflict between being fought by human nations dolls and the renegade dolls acting on their own trying wipe out human life.
It's action pack, infantry/special ops sort of combat, art good.

Kantai Collection anime has been around for a while you know.

Frontline Girls is not anime, it's what if AI & bad mishandling led to depending on Robots that act as infantry in a world...where i guess they used teenager / cute young woman as the model soldiers. It's possible they could make good anime out of it.
-
Codename: Bakery Girl (to which Girls' Frontline is a prequel) has been around nearly as long as KanColle.

WWW-site MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA is now available in English. Look it up.

I'm not sure i mentioned it, i've found rather nice throwback style manga. Its a Seinen style manga, war theme.
Here write up. It's called. Taihou to Stamp or translated "Guns and Stamps"
"The story is set in an alternate world with 20th century-like technology, during a great war between the alliance of the Grand Duchy (Russia that never formed) and the Empire (Poland-Lithuania that never fell into ruin) on one side, and the Republic (the Ottoman Empire that never fell apart) on the other. Lieutenant Martina M. Mayakovskaya is a new officer in the Grand Duchy Logistics Corps. It’s a branch of the armed forces responsible for transportation and supply that is looked down upon by the rest of the military as “paper soldiers“. Martina’s assignment is supposed to be a comfortable desk job dealing with stamping paperwork, but for some reason wherever she goes, she ends up in the middle of combat. Also, what’s that eight-legged pseudoweasel that she adopted as a pet (or it adopted her?), and is it just a coincidence that it seems to be saving her from harm every time?"
So it's war manga, has some humor to it. Sort reminds me of mild version of Dominion Tank Police in the way it's story is told. The artist is highly good at drawing, he comes up with these nice throwback unique / throwback vehicle designs he introduces in almost each chapter or 2. It's adult (not sexy kind).
-
Not just vehicles, I mean, those freakin computer systems he came up with...good lord do I want that.

In anime topic has been discussion about magical girl anime, namely Hinamatsuri and Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka. On manga front I have found 2 other different kind magical girl titles.
Machigatta Ko wo Mahou Shoujo ni shite shimatta has a delinquent type magical girl who kicks ass even without transformation. Don't worry, she will transform eventually, with magic wand in hand and cigarette in mouth.
Isekai de Saikyou no Tsue ni Tensei shita Ore ga Iyagaru Shoujo wo Muriyari Mahou Shoujo ni P suru! is isekai, where Japanese guy ends up in fantasy world mentoring local born magical girl. She is embarrassed of magical girl outfit.
My honest opinion: if comedy with bad taste and fan service are to your liking, you might get something out of them. Otherwise I recommend you to stay Hell out of them. You have been warned, proceed at your own risk.
-
That's funny, Matti, I just read those two mangas last night. The Machigatta one of the delinquent becomes a magical girl is pretty hilarious.

Came across this title: Sekai Saikyou No Kouei: Meikyuukoku No Shinjin Tansakusha
I think I'm going to give it a try simply from the following description which accompanied the title:
"Okay, so our main character is a workaholic with a demanding boss, who are both together when a bus crash kills them both. Something something isekai something something skill points something something adventurer’s guild something something dungeon exploration. Look, you’ve been here long enough to know how it goes.
So, the demanding boss becomes a Valkyrie and the MC, not wanting to work under her, decides to go solo. He soon must choose a class that his character will work as, and decides on 'rear guard'. However, he soon finds that a rear guard is actually a fairly rare job - and one he may just be able to excel at."

Well, until recently, the only manga series I had been regularly getting in the last few months were Case Closed (picked up vol 70 this past weekend), Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card, and Record of Grancrest War...but I've recently (within the last few months) begun collecting something far better...
My collection now includes the hardcover releases of volumes 1-3 of the Captain Harlock The Classic Collection, and, as of last night, the hardcover Space Battleship Yamato The Classic Collection. I will also be placing orders soon for the volumes of Queen Emeraldas The Classic Collection (if I remember the Previews entry correctly).

Do we know what goes on with Domestic Girlfriend? Last Kindle version of tankobon in English is #17 from May 2018. I don't want to clutter my Kindle with hundreds of individual chapters and I'm not sure do those include extra chapters... ::)
-
Just finished reading Tsutomu Nihei's "Abara"....While I absolutely love his artwork, the story itself was a bit...sparse. It didn't seem like there was very much explanation or background information. In all though, it was still an enjoyable read and prompted me to purchase his "Biomega" series.

Just gonna drop a big NSFW warning; the Heaven's Feel manga just got updated to a famous point aaaaaaaand what'd been a pretty generic adaptation of the route goes way past adults-only and stays there for a good dozen pages or more. 30 chapters in and there hadn't been anything pornographic about it, all of a sudden it's the chapter where Shirou has a Dream (if you know the story) and it's...explicitly drawn.
Dropping this as a warning if anyone else is following it. I was very not expecting that.

Maou-sama retry
Saint attacks demon lord. Demon lord gives her literal spanking! :o
I prefer Web novel version which has more to the story. Manga makes significant cuts. How did saint learn about existence and location of demon lord? Web novel has answer for that, manga does not.

Tomo-chan is back, and she is mad!
-
As promised in anime topic, here I tell about couple isekai manga where protagonist is NOT almighty overpowered badass.
Isekai ni Kita Mitai dakedo Ikanisureba Yoi no Darou
Japanese engineer ends up going to fantasy world because somebody's mistake, meets a girl, and tries to give a peaceful no-harm impression of himself. Girl thinks he was proposing of marriage and accepts it. Later guy joins adventurers guild to make for a living and goes adventuring. Heavy on slice-of-life, light on combat, and every encounter is a struggle. Characters are likable without being obvious stereotypes. So far so good.
NEET dakedo Hello Work ni Ittara Isekai ni Tsuretekareta
NEET decides to show off his parents he at least is looking for work. What seems like a job offer to beta test new video game turns out a transfer to fantasy world to test out some RPG-like mechanics in live. Except guy has only 1 life without save/load. Looks like an average isekai romp with harem of stereotype characters (priestess, tsundere, slave beastgirl etc.). But in latest chapters protagonist undergoes serious PTSD meltdown, which is done well enough. 1 point for that.
-
Endo and Kobayashi’s Live Commentary on the Villainess
Loving the premise. A boy, in order to spend time with the girl he likes, decides to play the otome game she really enjoys. She has already finished the game and also played follow up content in where they find out the main villainess is a misunderstood villainess. Since both are members of the Commentary Club, they decide to practice using the game and the characters. Instead of them guiding the main character of the game, they both end up mistaken as deities when the main capture target, the Prince can hear them talking.
Using this, they hope to avoid having the villainess turning into one and instead try and make a new story where everyone gets a happy ending instead some characters dieing during events.
Also has a light novel.

I have had few surprises in the past few days.
In Dosanko Gyaru Is Mega Cute protagonist has strict grandmother who has told him to choose friends carefully and they should act with class and grace. Along comes gyaru who is anything but. Grandma is gonna flip... SHE DOESN'T!?
Half-elves Fall in Love is fantasy... but it's not isekai? Protagonist has a memory about half-elf girl from his childhood whom he had put on a collar around her neck before joining military. 15 years later this half-elf makes a sudden appearance, calls him a master and herself a slave. Guy is totally gonna stonewall her, saying she's got a wrong idea or some other BS... HE DOESN'T!!?
At least Konosuba light novel isn't going to have these kind of surprises, right? Let's see... So Darkness wants to Kazuma to use mithril wire on her in order to test its strenght. Yeah, it's holding her up quite well. They don't want to be seen by the other girls like that though and go hiding around. They're going to be found out and be lectured for breaking status quo, right? They got found out all right... BUT THEY'RE COOL WITH IT!?!?!
What the frak? ???

Catching up on a manga/webcomic called Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon. Its not a iseka or a comedy, this about undead human skeleton solider who not in video game or anything like that. Its skeleton who trying fullfill it's duty protect his dead master (dead dead), but when he dies he somehow is reborn and returns to his previous place. There levels like video game to him, but he doesn't know why. His past life when he was a live is mystery to him, not focus. Only improve to become someone to protect people he desires to protect.
Overall its interesting webmanga.

As a flash from the past. I found or I should say uncovered a manga that wasn't released in the west but it's for something that was. Front Mission.
Basically it's based on the video game that they released on Playstation Emeka game now this is not a kitty thing this is actually a pretty serious drama from when I started to read it. It's very interesting.
I am hungry for hard scifi im tired of the regular theme stuff ive been typically reading.

What's Appleseed Alpha, and who's doing this new series?
Manga wise it's Iou Kuroda. Art looks okay, actually fairly old, like 3 years. There was anime as well, but I've found Appleseed hasn't had a lot of good animator houses handle it lately. I didn't realize Alpha was prequel, set in cyborg run New York City. I miss Masamune Shirow's original. However, he retired now from doing it.

Tonight I came across a manga called "Isekai Transporter".
Its about the guy and his truck that are hired by all those Isekai worlds to send heroes to them.
I don't think I should be laughing this much about someone who is, essentially, a serial killer.

Was reading Tengoku Daimakyou, a really interesting post-apocalypse story following two survivors scrounging around trying to find certain people, and a parallel story about some very special children in some sort of protective, futuristic facility they're being brought up in. Interesting, good characters, very much a mystery wondering how it's all connected.
I say "was reading" because I dropped it like a brick when one of the two main characters gets raped right there on the page. Consider this a warning should you happen to come across it or get recommended it; know what you're getting into. Damn shame, too, because it was pretty good right up to that point.
-
I say "was reading" because I dropped it like a brick
From a quick look via Google i'm fairly sure there's at least half a dozen places where i'd be dropping that, mostly gore-related.

So I went and bought 1st two volumes of Fate Grand Order Mortalis Stella. It's basically FGO's story as manga but since I don't play FGO I don't know does it have any changes to story in that.
-
Oops this isn't novels.
-
I started rereading Soul Eater and I enjoy just as much as the first time :smitten:

They were also plugging Macross Delta music release as well, but I wasn't into it. I was very disappointed how Delta turned out. It felt almost they were trying sell music to the point of compromising the story or what makes Macross its thing.

Ah yes, Magical Gangsta Girl Deculture.

Erm, you’ve had a musician as a main, or at least primary secondary character (if that makes sense) in every animated Macross series since the beginning. Music is one of the main selling points of Macross.

Reading scifi (real one, but comedy) manga. Mezametara saikyou soubi to uchuusen-mochi datta no de ["When I woke up, I found myself inside a spaceship"] (Yes it's that kind but not computer game thing.)
So as title suggests, it's isekai thing, but radically different. Guy wakes up in universe where he's in another universe (not world, but i find they use world for some bizarre reason.) where he on a ship identical to a computer game. He with his inside info, starts going to town on pirates gaining rewards.
Its funny, but action cool and you get see ships in combat. I do warn you guys this has a mild harem thing running in the background.
-
Youjo Senki aka saga of tania the evil
is it done or or break? last chapter i got is from february
-
I have very much been enjoying a manhwa called Aire. Good story, good art, good characters, not too much fan service.
-
Well, all caught up with the Woke up on a Spaceship light novel. Kind of dissatisfied with all the current reveals of the harem, but eh. Enjoying the combat and survival aspects of it.
-
Finally finished off the Spice & Wolf manga series after BAM told me they couldn’t get volume 14 in and I had to order from B&N instead. Also got the first volume of the sequel series Wolf & Parchment.
Took a while, but really enjoyed the series.

Holo and Kraft easily have one of the best relationships around. I love that they get to a point of back and forth and both of them know what they're really saying.
Have you started on Wolf & Parchment yet?

Finished the first volume of W&P last night.
Good start to the series.

Is it me or is there less Manga coming these days or one that don't sustain for while?

As far as I can tell Manga is booming, but that might be less visible with online sales and the general paper shortage.
-
not exactly manga but it took so many elements from looney toons and anime and mange that it should be a hybrid....the mask by the dark horse
-

Oof, not good. That could lead to no more paper mangas. Then nasty paywalls will be norm.
I used follow a really good manga/webcomic from S. Korea. It publishers decided to put a charge for access and essentially kill it with way we're charging access per issue if I remember right.
That sort thing could happen with Japanese Mangas as well.
Call me old fashion, I do prefer off line reading and own my book verses Crunchyroll website and worry licence expiring or being force to edit content due to the market place. I hate that with a passion.

You do not have to worry about that, Manga is one of the more profitable uses for paper.

Read the ending to Mermaid Princess's Guilty Meal. Ending felt kinda abrupt, but did resolve most of her issues. Still didn't quite feel satisfying though. I want to collect the recipes however.
-
after a year new chapter of tanya the evil is out
finally got to re read two f oldies but goodies
the living game and love lucky
-
Looks like The Duke of Death and his Black Maid finally wrapped up. The ending felt very much like Aa, Megami-sama. Pretty nice wrap up.
-
Are there any new emerging mangas coming out? I don't often look, I do read more manga than Anime these days.

Finally! It's been what, 3 years? 4?
-
Finally! It's been what, 3 years? 4?
2.5, roughly.
Then again, there were about 5 years each between volumes 9 and 10 and then 10 and 11.

Was there delay getting it exported or the author had to take a break?
UQ Holder finally ended, what tragic publishing history that book had.
Aoki Hagane No Arpeggio was one last ones i was steadily seeking out and buying. I think ThAT still in production still, but slow.
Chapter 131 (roughly current one), Germans are introduced fighting the gone rogue Musashi. Its more realistic than KC.

They are up Volume 22, Volume 20 was released in English May 2022. The American/English publisher has next volume in 2023.
Last actual published Volume, no.22 was released in December 27th, 2021. However, the chapters are still rolling out. I think it's giving space for the Japanese Magazine Shōnen Gahōsha's Young King OURs to get first dibs on stories before they get sent to other medias like Volumes and being translated.

Seems Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, has died while snorkeling. His body was found floating in the waters off Nago in the Okinawa prefecture.

Respect, Yu-Gi-Oh was close second to Pokemon in introducing my generation to Tabletop.

-
ok vampire dies in no time
and there is a new chapter of saga of tanya the evil few days back
-
went back and re read the first battle angel alita series...and appleseed
-
I've been reading what I can find online. Stuff I like usually is scifi but seems isekai (another world) genre is more available(?) or new. High School rom/com genres aren't really my thing. Its seems to be same old pattern, with new quirky characters.
-
went back n time
caravan kidd and outlanders
-
Galaxy Next Door and Matagi Gunner. Interesting contrasts. Also started "I may be a guild receptionist, but I'll solo any boss to clock out on time"
-
ok had been few years and it is nit manga but...humor is on same level as most of manga
groo the wanderer complete set
have to say this this series by sergio argones and mark evner with george sekai pulled me through some very dark times
-
finally got around to reading GANTZ
and finished re reading 3x3 eyes...had not read that one since 2012
-
Galaxy Next Door and Matagi Gunner. Interesting contrasts. Also started "I may be a guild receptionist, but I'll solo any boss to clock out on time"
Checked out both, i think Receptionist is my speed. Its hilarious
-
Just started reading A B-Rank Adventurer With an Evil Face, its not too bad. Isekai thing but its with a twist and comedy side to it.
-
Youjo Senki
caught up with it no new chapters since may no idea if it stopped but rumor mill has it that season 2 of anime is in the works
-
Just finished Fake Saint of the year. Starting Executed Sage becomes a Lich and starts a war of aggression and Refuse Harem.
I liked how Fake Saint was done, and kind of made me want to look into galgames. However pretty sure there aren't any specifically like it out there I'd play. There were some rather cringey parts, outdated attitudes and the like that I pushed aside.
-
Catching up on I May Be a Guild Receptionist, but I’ll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time manga. Its fantasy thing no iseka to be found, girl is a ball of frustration with ability to put rest any threat of excessive paper work since she hides her identity.
I do fear that with pending anime adaption, it will ruin the story since those shows seem to not be quality products only to advertise the LN / Manga publications.
-
got my hands on spice and wolf light novels...
re read gunnm first series
still love the artwork
-
dont know why but every few years i come back to this little slice of life from the 80s
the living game
it takes time during 80s tokyo and everything is so expensive living space is at a premuim and it takes time right before the economic bubble burst
-
Holy cow, somebody else read The Living Game? Nice!
-
had xenon while back unfortuntelly lost that one in a move
-
Now i am reading jujutsu kaisen.
Very good manga !
Also i love to play and watch valorant matches
https://bo3.gg/valorant/matches/current here .
Have a good day everyone.
-
re read and re watched
grey the digital target
and
gunhed
appleseed by munusume shirow i wish he had continued the series it was thought provoking just as much as GITS
-
Not a manga, but working my way through the Monogatari Series light novels right now. Turns out Nisemonogatari is just as much of a slog as a LN as it was in the anime.
-
One of the epilogue chapters of Dungeon Meshi was a really nice touch that wrapped up the manga, and showcased Laios, Falin and Marcielle post dungeon life. Even gives an update to Kensuke. Very touching.
-
Chapter 144 of "Don't Bully Me Ms. Nagatoro!" and they finally declare their love.
That"s pretty good for a romance manga.
-
well not manga but still a fun read
groo the wonderer
this one got me through some very dark times....so i re read some issues
