BattleMechs / Dark Age/IlClan AC-2, -5, -10, -20 Challenge
« Last post by Hazard Pay on Today at 20:33:10 »
Over the centuries, out of all the weapons used by combat craft across the inner Sphere and Periphery the Autocannons, ranging from the piddly class two to the monstrous class twenty have been some of the most common.

But as they succeeded the Rifle Cannons of yore, so to have the bog standard ACs fallen to the wayside in the face of ever advancing energy weapons and even their own inheritors such as the Light, Rotary, LBX etc. cannons. But in spite of all this, the Autocannons still march on if only because they've been produced in such vast quantities over the centuries that you can still trip over them ever mile or so.

Rules are simple for the Challenge, all tech is available for your perusal up to the 3150s but must include at least one AC-2, -5, or -10. The OG variety, none of the more advanced stuff.

Special munitions may be used. No weight class or locomotive restrictions, so Superheavies and Tripods are allowed. Good luck Mech Techs, show us what jank abominations your deranged minds can come up with!

Fan Fiction / Re: Iron Father

Back in the 80's i met some ex SS officers. From their reputations i was expecting crazy evil.
They turned out to be an interesting lot. They talked of the war in a professional manner, and about so many things they had seen.
I was dating the neice of one of them, so they were more open. But i was amazed how different they were from what i was expecting.
Although they did not want me to meet another of their group, although they refused to say why, only mentioned something about the war.

So i agree with you that the wobbies would have individual personalities and you did write them well. :smilie_party_cheers:

Yeah, as I stated before it was intended as a proof-of-concept show for the special effects that had been made for Babylon 5 could work elsewhere, so it was never going to run long.  Was annoying that ABC decided not to broadcast the whole series, though.

The hard part is tracking Damage from them.  Either they all "miss" for some reason, or I have to personally track where the Damage lands so they can "clear" it when they figure it out.

Of course, that only applies if the unit they are chasing shoots them at the same time.

If the ones they are chasing don't fire after the holograms are engaged, then it isn't really a problem (aside from maybe determining XP and Honor gains).

But if they get in to position to be engaged by both...  That's what's driving me a little crazy in figuring out at this point.

Aw, no way! That's easy mode!

You're already working with Holograms; that's next-door to lasers. If they can be projected, they can shoot and score hits.

If the system can tap into and "tether" to your mech's training computers, it will make them simulate damage.

That could be a clue; something is trying to "pair" with the players and NPCs mechs/tanks/fighters com systems as soon as they come in range for "safety purposes".

It's a kids show from the 90's, it was competing with Power Rangers. If you want to to a 90s show with higher expectations but didn't age well, look up Space Rangers.

Big Bad Beetle Borgs...

Super Samurai Cyber Squad (may have messed up the name...)

How many others?

But, of course I also grew up in Canada, so the airwaves were dominated by some truly heinous nonsense, most of it YTV locally-produced teen-dramas and the rest with a distinct leaning to younger viewers (5-10 or less). ANYTHING more suitable for the 11-14 and up age range that didn't star the same people you saw in everything else was a TREAT.

The Adventures of Sinbad was a TREASURE, for instance and that did star the usual suspects.

Someone put effort, money and innovation into Hypernauts. It's criminal it didn't spend more time in syndication.

Try swimming or cycling; I cycle about 22 miles a week.  As long as you get your cardio in, that is, an hour's worth of exercise, at 90% or less of your max heart-rate (220 - your age), you'll be fine.

I used to take swimming at the local community-college (so I could use the pool): I was swimming 3KM a week!  But you can only take each class four times (two classes), so, alas.

How well does Destiny do with Alpha Strike and TW.

Krud; I can't answer that question. I'm too old school.

Campaign Ops helps you customize mechs in a campaign but it isn't needed outside campaigns. And you still need TechManual for the details, weight, crits, special rules, etc. Tac Ops AU and IO:AE and other books may also be required depending in the item and era.
