Some Kingfisher and MechWarrior game love
« on: 29 February 2024, 23:16:03 »
Made using Blender and GIMP - Kingfisher 3D model is my own work taking elements from both the original TRO 3058 and RecGuide versions.  One pose I made of the 'mech screamed to me "Make this into a MechWarrior 2 Mercenaries box-style image!"

I'm still a bit of a Blender novice and hope to learn how to do textures soon to make the model look more interesting.  For now, basic material colors will have to do!

And it all came together as a MW2 expansion I wish we got:  Smoke Jaguar Strike!

This would take place in the Clan Homeworlds between 3000 and 3048, where Clan Smoke Jaguar takes out its frustration with the Dragoon Compromise against the Warden Clans, particularly Clan Wolf, Clan Coyote, Clan Steel Viper, and Clan Goliath Scorpion.

Of course I'd want more 'mechs to play, so like Ghost Bear's Legacy, I'd introduce another twelve here too: Kingfisher, Arctic Cheetah, Mist Lynx, Adder, Viper, Ice Ferret, Lupus, Battle Cobra, Crossbow, Woodsman, Shadow Cat, and Supernova

A redditor suggested that I try a jungle theme...

It looks amazing.

Only thing throws me off is the two circles above the cockpit.  Its way the coloring is, it reminds me of googly eyes.

If they ever update this forum, we need to be able to up-vote posts for stuff like this.
Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

Yeah, that was a good idea that fellow had!

Here's another view of my Kingfisher Prime model:

I want to optimize my Kingfisher model and perhaps make some changes to it based on my experience working on the Savage Coyote.  Maybe I'll hit it again at some point as my current project is improving the Blood Asp model from MWO!

Here's a rear view of the Kingfisher Prime, which I forgot to texture some more  :rolleyes:
