Mounting and dismounting infantry and BA.
« on: 10 May 2018, 19:52:51 »
Silly question for which my search hasn't turned up anything useful to answer my own curiosity.  When MP is expended to mount or dismount infantry and BA, is it considered a move for the unit the infantry the mounting or dismounting since it is expending the MP?  If so do you consider it a walk/cruise or run/flank?

Infantry & BA dismounting do not spend MP (except VTOL/Jumpers) so gain any movement mods (except previous).  Now, infantry & BA CAN move and end their turn before being picked up by a transport that has not moved yet that turn.

Question I am still trying to find out is if a mech that jumps can dismount BA that turn- either as a Omni or magclamp'd BA.

You misunderstood what I am asking or I wasn't clear.  A unit carrying infantry pays 1 mp to have them dismount/disembark.  Does the unit paying the cost count as moving and if so does the movement have to be declared as a walk or a run?

I'd think walk/run or cruise/flank would depend on how the unit spends the rest of its MP.  If it doesn't spend any other MP, I'd go with walk/cruise...

yeah, it basically breaks down to did you pick them up at the beginning of your move or set them down at the end?

That is what I'd go with as well.  But assume the unit does nothing else movement related for the rest of the turn?  The unit isn't really going anywhere and isn't 'moving'.

It still expended MP, which unless it goes over cruise, it would count as that. Of course a 0 modifier too.
No-Dachi has a counter-argument. Nothing further? Ok.

dismounting does not cost the carrier any MP.
