the only takeaway from the game last night is that the cardinals are awful. like possibly worse than when they trotted Ryan Lindley out there for a few games in 2012 (maybe the least suited man to the position I have ever seen).

2017: Fired by Denver after Week 6

2018: Fired by Arizona after Week 7 (after facing Denver)

That's synergy. I appreciate that.

6-1 for the Chiefs.  Kansas City's definitely got themselves a solid run; let's hope Mahomes and his receivers can keep it going into the postseason.

Next week is the Broncos at Arrowhead.  We'll find out whether he's got as good a mind for opposing defenses as they say when he gets a second look at their starters.

EDIT: I was just about to say that the 2018 Chiefs offense is Andy Reid's magnum opus.

Then I remembered that this entire group of skill players is coming back for the next two years after this, minimum.

God help you all.

Checking the schedule, man, Armistice Day is gonna suck.

Meanwhile the Chiefs get the Broncos (who they beat once already) on the 28th, then the Browns, Cards, Raiders, Ravens, Chargers, Seahawks, and Raiders again.  What's with the matchups and the repeats?

the anatomy of a season schedule is fairly predictable. only two games are unknown for any year in the near future.

6 games against divisional opponents (2 each)
4 games against a single division of the three other divisions in the same conference on yearly rotation
4 games against teams of a single division in the opposite conference
2 remaining games against the team that finished in the same place last season from the in-conference divisions not already played (eg other 3rd place teams)

So for the Chiefs this year

1) vs Division opponents (6)
vs raiders, @ raiders
vs chargers, @ chargers
vs broncos, @broncos

2) vs AFC North (4)
@ steelers
vs bengals
@ browns
vs ravens

3) vs NFC West (4)
vs 49ers
vs cardinals
@ rams
@ seahawks

4) vs other first place AFC teams from last season (2)
vs jaguars
@ patriots

I was pretty salty that we had to go into Foxborough two years in a row.  Home and away is really where the schedule mystery comes in from year to year.

Reminds me of back in the '90s the Packers complaining about going to Dallas seven times in a row. The response was, "Win you're division consistently and we'll come up there."

And the Vegas Oakland Raiders' disassembly continues with Amari Cooper heading to Dallas. Gruden's gonna get a lot of rookie snaps next year....

Someone explain to me if this theory(s) of mine is valid:

  • Does the Haslam's really care about the Browns with their current Coach's record?
  • Is there a power struggle going on with the three coaches?
  • Does the rest of league actually care about the HORRIBLE OFFICIATING?
  • Do any of you think that this is just another intentionally losing season for draft pick quality (especially when you consider we actually have a decent GM instead of a lawyer)?

Even my Page posting rate is better than my KPD rate IG...

1) they haven't fired him yet so no
2) yes it's pretty obvious from Hard Knocks that Todd Haley is after the HC job
3) the officiating is ok . They're enforcing the rules as they're told - that's where the root of the issue lies
4) a few bounces and the browns might have the same record as the chiefs. The last draft was actually competent

They're doing so with the consistency of a wet napkin.  Roughing the Passer is so differently called from week to week that it's a miracle edge rushing DEs still bother.  The rule for lowering the helmet before initiating contact doesn't get called at all even when it really should.  The Patriots don't get called for holding (but what else is new) unless it's in view of multiple refs and cameras.  It's like they get "Superbowl officiating" during the regular season - and the fact that phrase exists is symptomatic of the problem in the first place.

With the exception of their loss to the Chargers, every Browns game has been decided by four points or less. They have been in every in one of those games and could be in the lead of the AFC North had for tune been kinder/ They could also be 0-6-1 if fortune were harsher.

It's still a league office problem. Especially with the roughing penalties I have a feeling they're getting new and probably contradictory intructions from week to week. Literally making it up as they go. You knew it was going to be a problem when players were universally pissed that the nfl people had no idea how to explain the new emphases in the pre season briefings.  Also you had to know the lowering the helmet was never going to get called. I laughed when they announced it in the first place.

Great timing. I'm sure the Vegas fans will be falling all over each other for good tickets to see a 3-13 roster.

What a dumpster fire.

Well, in Gruden's defense, Cooper is going to be on the wrong side of 30 in a mere seven years.

According to the police report, he "let himself in" to a house that was described by the occupants as locked, sat on the couch with the occupants, and mumbled incoherently until the police arrived.  Toxicology determined was not drunk.

He sounds like he got pretty ****** up either at a party or on his own.

According to local news, no toxicology report was done. Earlier in the evening he was at the Bronco's Halloween Party which was held near were he was found. Allegedly he was drinking nothing but water at the party and was still in costume when he was arrested.

How much water did he drink? If he diluted his sodium levels too far that would explain things.
