Here's the challenge:

Using AT LEAST 80% either SRM-2s or Streak-2s, create an I.S. battlemech of any weight that you feel would be a real threat to enemies.

At first I was like, "ok, just make a Javelin, but with 6 SRM-2s instead of 2 SRM-6s", but then I realized that it builds 50% more heat for the same weight.  I suppose you could still jump 6, build 12 heat, then jump away like you're supposed to, but you'd have to fire only 4 SRM-2's to remain heat neutral, with the remaining 2 SRM-2s being for reach.  Maybe remove both of them for a machine gun and armor.

Overview:
The KTO-19s Kintaro was a proposed update to the KTO-19b Kintaro proposed
after the development of the Streak-SRM-2 launcher. General Mechanics was
concerned that the development of the Streak launcher would supplant its
existing usage of NARC-equipped units for close assault work. Accordingly,
they proposed an extensive refit to the Kintaro to make use of the new
technology.

Capabilities:
The original Kintaro was built around the NARC missile beacon. With that piece
of equipment rendered "redundant" by the development of the Streak launcher,
General Mechanics removed it and the missile launchers they it supported
entirely.


In the place of the short-ranged launchers, GM proposed to mount a half-dozen
Blakenberg 2-tube Streak launchers. This would have given the 19s Kintaro the
same short ranged missile payload as the original model, without the need to
worry as much about ammunition management and heat.


GM was convinced that a long-range version of the Streak missile launcher would
eventually be developed. Not wanting to wait to introduce their proposal, and
not waiting to mount a weapon that would eventually be rendered obsolete, they
replaced both the LRM-5 and the two medium lasers with a single extended range
Large Laser.


The original Kintaro was known for being something of a handful in terms of
heat management. GM's proposal for the new version replaced the existing sinks
with double strength heat sinks. While the extended range laser would still
made it possible to overheat, the use of Streak launchers would have made this
much less likely.


Even with the additional mass of the Streak launchers, some additional tonnage
was saved with the removal of the NARC launcher. GM elected use this extra
tonnage to mount a Guardian ECM suite to allow the close-assault Kintaro to
disrupt enemy targeting.


Deployment:
GM believed that with all of the new technology their proposed refit for the
Kintaro would make it a "technological wonder". What they failed to account
for was that the SLDF was actually quite happy with the existing Kintaro. In
particular, the SLDF Royal divisions that would have been given first crack at
the new configuration quite liked their -19b Kiintaros and the Narc launcher
they carried. As no Streak variant of the LRM was on offer, they chose to
retain the NARC capability for their fire support units.


Ultimately the 19s Kintaro never made it beyond the technical drawing stage.
The -19 and -19b Kintaros would continue in SLDF service until the fall of the
Star League, and the downgraded -18 version would continue to see use into the
Succession Wars.

My entry is based off the Dervish DV-7D. I figure with reintroduced Streak-2 launchers being thrown on everything in the late 3040s there must have been someone who suggested going all in and building a brawler that used them as the primary weapon.

Overview:
The Desert Fox was designed in the early 3060's when the AFFC high command sent
out a request for a cheap, well protected light omni capable of any kind of
mission. A NAIS design team finally aquired plans for the Arctic Fox omni from
a deal with clan Wolf-in-exile. Removing the XL engine and adding
Ferro-Fiberous armor dropped the cost by almost half of the original while
reducing vulnerability. The only problem was the limited space left in the
chassis for equipment mounts - several prototypes were produced before the top
brass were pleased.


Capabilities:
The DF-2 is a copy of the WiE AF-1, which in turn is a copy of the clan Kit
Fox. As such it shares many features of those mechs, such as primarly
arm-mounted weapons, top speed (97 kph) and general chassis design. The DF-2 is
a much simpler design however, as it lacks the expensive XL engine.

With 11 tons of pod space the DF-2 is unable to carry paired heavy weapons,
instead it is designed to carry a single large weapon in its right arm with
secondary weapons in its left arm and torso. There is space for mounting jump
jets, but not enough for a full 180 meter jump capability - 150 meters were
deemed sufficient by the designers.

The most talked-about feature of the design isn't a part of the mech at all,
however. Realizing that most units would have a short supply of weapons
designed to fit into an omni the design team came up with the "Universal
Adaptor Sleeve" - a set of fittings and connectors that can be attached to most
common IS weapons (and several clan weapons as well) allowing them to be
mounted on the DF-2. The UAS:s are cheap and light so that units can carry a
lot of them, allowing a configuration flexibility that beats even the clans by
a wide margin.


Deployment:
Desert Foxes were just entering production at the start of the FedCom civil
war. The produced units ended up on both sides were they recieved a mixed
reputation - pilots and techs liked them for their ruggedness and ease of
modification, higher officers only saw the loss rates when desperate company
and lance commanders outfitted the DF-1's with heavy weapon batteries and sent
them out as replacements for destroyed medium and sometimes even heavy mechs!

After the civil war ended DF-1's has been spread over the entire FC, thought
they are more common in the Federated Suns half.

Hmm...how many? Say you had an Atlas that lost its main SRM-6 rack and its AC-20. You could fit it with both CASE and Freezers and you had a stupid amount of SRM-2 launchers...

This seems like something a Rim World's Republic pilot would use with Infernos...

Perhaps switching to streaks?  Then I think you can fit enough heat sinks to make it work I think but then you run out of critical space.

Overview:
The "Hitodama" was a specially modified CGR-3K Charger that was used by James
Ootsuki to challenge for the Solaris Class 5 championship in 3047. Ootsuki was
a former Tai-I of the DCMS. formerly of the 4th Ghost Regiment. Following his
dismissal upon the 4Th's dissolution, Ootsuki travelled to Solaris to challenge
for the 5th Division.


He brought with him a Charger originally identified as a 1A1 model. Subsequent
analysis indicates that it was in fact a -3K variant similar to the one that he
piloted during the war. How Ootsuki was able to obtain such a piece of
equipment from the DCMS remains to be seen, though there are accusations that
the Ghost Regiments' connections with organized crime may have had something to
do with it.


Capabilities:
The Hitodama was extensively modified from its original configuration. While it
does retain the 400-rating Extralight engine that allows it to move at
incredible speeds, it adds some vicious close-in fighting capabilities.


Gone are the medium pulse lasers. Ootsuki elected to replace them entirely
with 10 SRM-2 launchers. During combat, these launchers were loaded exclusively
with inferno ammunition. They would often allow Ootsuki to overwhelm an
opponent's heat management systems, forcing them to shut down and leaving them
helpless.


Medium range firepower came from a pair of RAMTech Large lasers. These weapons
had neither the range nor the punch of a PPC, but they proved quite effective
during the course of Ootsuki's brief career.


The main weapon of the Hitodama was neither the laser weapons nor the
missiles, however. Ootsuki was able to acquire some of the prototype Capellan
myomer used during the 4th succession war on their models of the Charger. He
used this, combined with the mech's fists, the wreak deadly havoc on his
opponents in the arena. Aside from making the machine deadly in melee, it also
gave it a closing speed of close to 100 Kph.


Battle History:
The Hitodama was frighteningly effective. It tore its way through the ranks of
the Class 5 division. During his rise Ootsuki killed 3 other mechwarriors in
single combat. in particular, he seemed to target pilots from the Federated
Commonwealth. Superficially, he piloted those with a background in the Lyran
armed forces.


In the end, the tactics he adopted from the Capellans would be his undoing. A
rival mechwarrior was able to expose the myomer on Ootsuki's mech to the same
gaseous catalyst that doomed Liao mechwarriors during the 4th succession war.


Ootsuki's mech was paralyzed. He was given the option to surrender by his
opponent, a Steiner veteran of the same conflict that Ootsuki himself have been
involved in. He declined to do so, and was killed by a headshit from a heavy
autocannon borne by the Steiner pilot's Banshee.

At first I was like, "ok, just make a Javelin, but with 6 SRM-2s instead of 2 SRM-6s", but then I realized that it builds 50% more heat for the same weight.  I suppose you could still jump 6, build 12 heat, then jump away like you're supposed to, but you'd have to fire only 4 SRM-2's to remain heat neutral, with the remaining 2 SRM-2s being for reach.  Maybe remove both of them for a machine gun and armor.
4 Streak Racks would fit perfectly, and you could drop a ton of ammo for CASE and a Small Laser, or that Machine Gun.

I always thought that should have been the real 3050 update of the Javelin. The one they did doesn't really make that much sense to me.

Yea I always wondered about the big tactical benefit of an enemy not knowing which version of the javelin was being faced when the only difference was an SRM 6 versus 2 streak SRM2s.

Well I bet it is not really a threat but hey here is a shot in the dark.

IN the vein of the super wasp and super griffin The Fed Com did an experiment at trying a larger version of one of their classic light mech with similar maneuverability but with greater fire power and armor. It was also a test boat for several new technologies working together such as ECM, double heat sinks, streaks, endo steel, case,and the soon to be very common 300 XL engine. 

The standard SRM 2 had two purposes first it was older tech in case the streaks did not work and later when they found that they did work the single ton of ammo was perfect to use inferno ammo or other special ammunition the streaks could not use.
