Tonight I watched A Most Wanted Man.  Philip Seymour Hoffman was convincing as a German intelligence operative in the war on terror.  Not a bad flick by any stretch.

Rewatched Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

Still one of the best comic book movies of all time.

For me, i re-watched a golden oldie, Virus, from 1980 with Robert Vaughan..  Man that film was dated as hell...

Just watched the new Tom Hanks flick, Greyhound. As a CS Forester fan, I was very impressed.

Watched Star Trek: Beyond earlier tonight. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.  I'm normally not a fan of reboots, but this was a pleasant surprise.

I saw Greyhound too. It's rather decent actually and is well-acted. There's one thing about it that is unrealistic but oddly enough it's not the bit from the trailer where you see the U-Boat and Greyhound alongside one another. As an incident like that did really happen, a damaged U-boat, unable to dive took itself in right against an attacking escort that couldn't depress its guns enough.

Definitely recommend.

Anybody else watched any of the new Netflix action movies. I caught Extraction and The Old Guard recently.

Extraction impressed more of the two, mainly on the strength of a first-act car chase that is an absolute beast, a veritable cinematic juggernaut of nonstop action. It gets a bit John Wickensian as it goes on, and the climactic final scene isn't up to the same standard as the car chase, but I thought overall it was enjoyable fluff.

Less impressed by The Old Guard, with Charlize Theron as the leader of a kind of SEAL team made of Highlander/Deadpool/Wolverine style immortals. The action is also very Wicky, but not quite as adrenalinicky as Extraction and the plot was a bit too predictable for my taste.

I thought both kind of suggest a strategy for Netflix original movies--pick one big name Hollywood star, focus on bodies per minute (bpm) and go easy on the script. As though they were aiming for "just good enough" rather than "great."

Watched Old Guard and was underwhelmed. Which for me is not unexpected when it comes Theron's more recent works. And judging by the end a sequel is already in the works.

Was cleaning out the DVD draw and found Colossal.

Where a girlfriend has a bad day and decides to go to the park and swing... and " things " go wrong on the other side of the world.

Except for the stupid parts, it more of a redemption film. Weirdly non-comical, but the boyfriend gets what he deserves!

Cheesy, fun, non-humorous but a weird love story.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World. 10 year anniversary this past week. What crime the marketing failed the film. It was funny / surreal film. The music was awesome and what movie has lead make make the future Captain Marvel cry, kicked both Superman and Captain America butts?

For me, i did a watch of Christopher Reeve's Superman 1, 2 and started on 3..  BUT the disk was shot..  BUT then since it was almost 20 years old, that's not surprising..

ok i finally got around to watching two old polish comedies...yah poles have a sense of humor who would had thought? and they were rather sophisticated
vabank and seksmisia both you can catch on helltube
vabank is about how to make revenge even sweeter and have people help you do it
seksmisia is a scifi romp with a rather tounge in cheek what happenes when all men die off and 2 remaining speciments are uncovered 50 years later from forgotten suspended animation experiment...
