I like the planet Fjernet, after it was pointed out that Fjernet translated to deleted/removed in Norwegian.

Then there's the Tedibyhr system...
Planet names in general are just a font of tidbits and giggles.

I laughed so hard I choked on my tuna fish sandwich at this, and had a coughing fit that became  an asthma attack.

While I applaud your humor, sir, dying for it is not my idea of a good time.

Even now, ten minutes later, it requires all my steely self-control to not fall prey to the same trap.

Loren Coleman's tendency to create CCAF characters whose "Chinese" names are actually phonetic English puns.

On a serious note, the final action of Ensign Henry Larson aboard the Bowfin in TRO3026 is the same as that taken by LCDR Howard W. Gilmore aboard USS Growler (SS-215) on the night of 6/7 February 1943.

I found that there was a "Starbucks"-style coffee shop chain called "Java Pulse Generator" to be pretty amusing.

If there was 1 thing that cemented Dark Age in my mind as an attempt at "millennial Battletech", for good or ill, this was it.

Bonus points that every JPG is a front for Republic Intelligence. Tinfoil intensifies!

Maybe for you, but now I'm stuck with the thought of all the Clanners in the old cartoon being voiced by the cast of Denver the Last Dinosaur, and I can't pour bleach into my brain to make it go away because I'm at work!

I always imagine the Clanners having slight fake-Russian accent.
It makes no sense whatsoever even if Kerenskys spoke Russian. But... i don't know, pseudo animal-tribe space-mongols who-speak English with bad fake-Russian accent? My brain just says "let's go with that".

this, in combination with the clanner insistence on PROPER, contraction-free English, HAS to be canon.

The idea of proper, contraction free speech, combined with a surfer dude accent is breaking my brain, just a little.

That's probably thanks to MW4: Mercs.

And perhaps the most believable thing about clan society

Why though, considering that MW2 features far more Clanners than Aisa Thastus?

Personally I can't read Joanna, Marthe Pryde or indeed any Falcon female save in some variant of the MW2 Jade Falcon intro narrator... snooty, condescending, borderline fanatical ::)

The only fake-Russian in that game was that one DropShip captain. The Falcons? Sure don't sound Russian or fake-Russian to me.

*shrug* I keep thinking of the Battletech cartoon whenever someone brings up the Falcons ;D

The voice actor for Vlad used a fake Russian accent, slightly better than Peter's fake German. Stands out because, as mentioned earlier, no other clanner has said accent.

What was his name, Pascha or something like that? Lame accent, but man is it nice having an Overlord backing you up for support.  ;D

Ohh, i forgot Vlad was there. While i've played the game a lot, i often don't finish it somehow, i keep forgetting what happens in the final missions.

Dascha? No idea. Polite fellow though, the sort that makes you feel bad for siding with the other side.

Something like that. But he's a merc, not Clan. First encountered on I think Halloran.

Captain Dashka commands a Hrothgar on Halloran V, and an Overlord on Tharkad.
"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Shiny thing!" - Maximillian Liao, "My Triumph", audio dictation, 3030.  Unpublished.

Ah, yes, "what's a foul?". I found that utterly hilarious moment in the Blood of Kerensky trilogy.

IIRC, the Clans play several games, but these are shared between certain Clan "groupings". Like, Wolves play lacrosse as do some others, but then there are Clans like Ghost Bears who apparently prefer American Football.

And Mini-Putt was apparently popular enough with the Nova Cats to use it as a Trial of Possession for a world (in BULLDOG, IIRC).
