This is basically a "'Mech that could never be". I got Historical: Reunification War way back when, looked at the Alfar, hacked my own version together as an educated guess for want of a record sheet, tried it out in MegaMek, decided I rather liked it...then next decided to look at what full Star League technology could do with it.
Well, this is the result, and for all that the upgrades are somewhat modest (the endo steel and FF armor it simply inherits from the original, so I can't take any credit for those) I'm rather fond of it as well; the slight catch being, of course, that canonically the Alfar's nonstandard construction made it a hassle to maintain despite its undisputed capabilities and so any that did in fact survive the war didn't stick around for very long in anyone's forces, many of them actually getting scrapped in total violation of what we've learned to take perhaps a bit too much for granted when it comes to BattleTech. So by the time the weapons I've decided to equip it with were even developed, there wouldn't have been any Alfars left to refit with them (except perhaps for some museum pieces that no sane curator would allow just anyone to mess with) and little to no interest in dedicating valuable production capacity to reviving the design from the ground up either...and so at least as far as the canon timeline is concerned it has to remain a "what if" design. (Don't let the production year I assigned it fool you; at best, it might have come out around that time in some alternate timeline.)
