Whoa, when did December get here? Yet another year flying by. As always, I would like to thank everyone who posted last month. Got to see some great work again.

This month the tour stops in the Federated Suns. My favorite faction from day 1. And at that time, I didn't really know who they were, I just liked their standard. :) But from there I delved into the fluff and have been on their side ever since, well most of the time anyway. With being perhaps the largest faction in the game for many years, they have a number of units and paint schemes to pick from. So, my fellow FedSun fans, show what you've got. Got warship? Post it. Got a battalion? Post it! 8) And with it being December and all, should you happen to have any minis in the Christmas/Holiday spirit, please share them as well. :thumbsup:

For myself, I have two Battlemech companies, both reinforced with a lance of armor. First we have the 1st Federated Suns Armored Cavalry, and then the 3rd Ceti Hussars.

Next month we'll start the New Year out with Mercenaries N - Z and winter camo. February will be Clans Blood Spirit, Nova Cat, and Diamond Shark/Sea Fox.

We all seem to flirt with the Davionista at some point, don't we? Most of us, anyway.

In era-chronological order,

Succession-war era 1st Capellan Dragoons. The green-black countershading was surprisingly easy, and looks really effective.

Clan Invasion-era 15th Deneb Light Cavalry. A very classic FedSuns "medium" battalion in casual tan.

Civil War-era 7th Crucis Lancers, featuring the "Sword of Whap"

And Jihad-era 2nd Crucis Lancers, featuring support units.

I would love to know how you painted these. I have a 17th Avalon Hussars AS force organized for both the FCCW era, as well as a Jihad era one. The test Wolfhound is far too dark for my liking.

hey Azakael, here is a short breakdown:

- i am using vallejo paints
- vallejo grey primer
- basecoat is light grey, then a thinned black wash (secret weapon)
- light brushing with light grey to bring the base colour a bit back
- a bit of shading with basalt grey
- highlighting with light grey and off white
- basecoat for red is cavalry brown, then layering with flat red
- highlights with scarlet and light orange

Fed Suns was more of an OpFor for me. Nevertheless there are some mechs in FS colors in my possession.

Well, the top half is in Davion fleet red. And could explain the misguided fleet doctrine of being thrown at other ships.

Funny that House Davion doesn't have a golden, orange or yellow parade scheme since their faction logo and state color is shown as orange or gold or yellow. ::) :P

In fact, they have more green in their schemes than House Liao and other CapCon formations. Go figure.

Anyway, while I used this for a generic 'Team Yellow', it is actually based off the 39th Avalon Hussars.

Edit: I miss the search feature. But, you can find close-up runway shots of the four here, as well as an action shot of fighting an iconic Draconis Combine lance.
