They're effective at the same ranges, accurate, and open bigger holes for the SRMs to exploit, on top of being something worth actually using RHS on.

I also was thinking about CLPLs' tonnage, so replace with Snubbies as appropriate.

By my count that comes to 15 DHSs, which with RHS gives you a really interesting (to manage) heat curve of +8 running alpha with RHS if all Streaks fire, then both Snubbies for -8, and alternating in that fashion.  Every streak that misses in the first volley gets added to the next consequence free.

EDIT: I did a thing

Oh, Clan LPL?  Well that is different since its a bit more overall damage and yeah, you got the range thing.  Base IS chassis & IS weapons I thought you were talking IS replacement.

Well, mostly I was just wrong. :D  I was thinking "six tons" and not actually "Clan LPLs", that's just how the math worked.

I actually like it a lot better with Snubbies, incidentally.

Does the League in general and Protectorate specifically face enough specialist armors to consider Large REL?  I mean the Wolf Empire has . . . Ferro-Lam on the Savage Wolves & Ryo/Skinwalker III, Reactive on the Warwolf, and . . . any others really?

Hollander IIIs with Reflective also show up on occasion, but otherwise not really.

As far as I can tell the main users of reflective armor are the Combine, the Falcons and the Republic. It doesn't really seem to have caught on much outside of those three powers.

The only Mechs RE-Lasers would be effective against are the Hollander III, Thunder Fox F11, Viking IIC, and Trebaruna XH that are on Lyran availability.  That's not counting IS General, but I feel like the exclusivity of that group of four speaks for itself.

Sure, its why I was asking to see if someone else saw it as more reasonable . . . I had dismissed the Marians and Cappies & Co since they leaned to stealth armor rather than the other types while the League & Republic seem to have a unspoken agreement to leave each other alone.

So yeah, no point in REL which leaves you with XP, VSP, Snubs and old Pulse as options as you mentioned.

Nothing like capped SNPPCs to give the extra surprise.  And give a great reason to hit the RHS button!

Or just two ER PPCs, or even standard PPCs with capacitors for the range advantage. You might have to eliminate a Streak 6 possibly. The League should be over its fluff imposed exile on PPCs at this point.

As another consideration, what would the new Awesome from 3150 look like? Three Heavy PPCs on a 3/5 chassis with some smaller energy weapons and an RHS? Perhaps using a light engine?

Moving on because the urge to get snarky about filthy customization is getting overwhelming...post-Jihad, a LOT of Clan Omnis are on the IS general list, and by the Dark Age the FWL gets even more, wether from the open market, Wolf salvage, or our new residents in the Clan Protectorate. With that in mind, are there any Clan mechs in the Kickstarter that you're specifically looking forward to integrating with your Leaguers?

Whenever I see an Inner Sphere Large Pulse, I feel a need to swap it for a Snub.

Same, I just try to resist b/c it seems like a lesser version of 'Replace this IS ERPPC with a Clan ERPPC, it will be so much better!'

Honestly, that is not something I like in the MUL . . . any faction that participated in Operation Bulldog got access to certain Omnis.  Comes from seeing a 'CapCon' or 'FWL' force on table top for a game that is using MUL era lists and it has a Ice Ferret D, Stormcrow, and whatever might be faction appropriate b/c its on that list.  Dark Age, it gets a bit more acceptable b/c of diffusion by that time . . .

But for designs?  I think perhaps the Warhammer IIC?  While the 4 was in a lot of the MWDA fiction, it will be interesting to see this b/c it can stand in for the too tall WHM IIC 4.  I also hope it might end up with the Marauder IIC in the fiction again, loved that design in the MW2 game.

Who would be a more likely source of salvage for a Regulan Hussars force, the Lyrans or Capellans?

Regulans were buying from the Lyrans and somewhat to a lesser degree the Capellans during & a bit before the Dark Age (IE, the Capellans bought iNARC Tufana from Regulus) and they did not have forces deployed to either border.  The Regulans fought the Oriente forces, which had Capellan salvage so that is a possibility.

Not particularly. I'm far more interested in other 3025 and 3055 + designs coming out for new minis then I am about the first 16 Omnis plus whatever gets added in as well as movement on the next 100 year story interval.  Plus TROs/record sheets backfilling the clan Toumans with IIC or proper C versions of the remaining Star League mechs, and the sheets for the units in 3150 along with anything that's still missing. Updating the MUL for units from the early Republic era forward would be nice as well, such as knowing that we could actually use Unions in post Jihad battles.

I can pick up pretty much anything I need miniature wise from Iron Wind, Ebay, etc.  The MUL shows that the League doesn't gain any stock 3050 Clan Omnis in the Late Republic and Dark Age, and after King Arthur aka Devlin Stone made his peace proposals, apparently the remaining League powers either blew all their old stuff on raids, trades, cannibalization, losing to the Wolves, or going peacenik to gain more money , which does fit the League model of finance first, come up with a bad design plan, and change it later.  Custom designs the League can use to eliminate severe shortcomings in their remaining primitive, Succession War or Star League era tech designs are far more to my taste.

Huh? The MUL gives everyone who played in Op Bulldog got Jaguar party favors- search it for Civil War onward.

Fire Moth
Mist Lynx
Arctic Cheetah
Adder
Viper
Ice Ferret
Nova
Hellbringer
Summoner
Gargoyle
Warhawk
Kingfisher
Executioner
Dire Wolf

Real odd-ball missing Omnis are no Shadow Cats, Stormcrows or Mad Dogs . . . but the listed Omnis are what are on IS General I think.

Actually rather sad the Vulture didn't make the list. A lance with a Vulture Prime backing up three Anvils sounds like terrific fun.

Yeah, but then you have to deal with the other mechwarriors in the lance referring to it as the Clanvil.

Sure in the late Clan War to Jihad Era, the Clan Omnis flow like wine, even though we didn't have that much participation in Bulldog or Serpent (4 Regiments total).  Enter into the Early Republic era and beyond, and you're looking at either second line Clan mechs sold to you by Sea Fox or the Savage Wolf/Mad Cat IV and Vulture IV Ommis, and then the two Nova Cat Omnis that the DC sell after the Nova Cats, the Avalanche and the Wendigo.

For late Clan War through the Jihad, I would use the Thor, the Kingfisher, the Fenris, the Black Hawk and the Puma.  They all match up well with the League's focus on mobility and firepower over armor, and our preference for ballistic weapons and lasers.

How about alternate configs for the IS Omnis we use in the future with Sea Fox provided guns?

I'm trying to paint up DropShip minis for a FWL assault group for BattleFace gaming, and thus present a challenge for my fellow Earthicans Leaguers: What DropShips would you use to transport a FWL mech regiment, plus a supporting armor regiment, infantry regiment, and fighter support? For convenience's sake, any command lances are at your discretion, as is the ratio of light vehicle bays to heavies. Similarly, those 6-vee light platoons can be grouped into 2- or 3-platoon companies, your choice. No customs of any kind, and please try to use actual transport bays for as much as possible.

As an extra challenge if you wish, assume the above, but the force MUST include at least 1 Triumph, 1 Condor, 1 Seeker, and 2 Gazelles.

See I was going to say most of the armor would travel aboard a Jumbo, Mammoth or Mule along with a lot of the support.  Is this a PCS (permanent change of station) or a combat deployment?

If we are going in hot the choices will be a lot different than if I am just moving the troopies around.  Timeframe?  Of course the most important question is where the drop collars are attached and how many?
