Apparently Tight End won't be a huge pressing need for this draft for the Cowboys....

it's a win/win. he gets to play again and we don't have him in the booth for MNF

So the Giants are keeping their 38 year old, bottom third of the league QB but letting go of their 25 year old Probowl safety. Huh?

It's the Giants. Don't bring logic into this. Even the team they share an arena with has more sense than the G-men these days (if only barely).

by all metrics it's weird.

if the giants don't go QB in the first round this year, papers should be filed to move the franchise to siberia... though apparently this year's qb class isn't as good as last year's (when they should have taken a qb). word on the street is murray was garbage in the interviews and chalk talk.

Until they take the field in uniform and suck it up, any and all murmurs of this variety are trying to sabotage a prospect's draft position to make it more likely they get to the team that started the rumor.

All of them.

He’ll get his pro day to show a gm he’s worth risking employment over

But I also allow such things to exist in a way that allows for his combine interviews to be garbage, teams trying to scare other teams into not taking someone, and taking someone high because it’s the only option. And ultimately none of that mattering. Or all of it. Multiple things can be true at the same time

Also Gruden is high on Murray so strike 2  ;D

Yeah I've defended Eli in the past but it has become painfully obvious that injuries and father time have combined in a way that he really needs to retire sooner rather than later.  But at the same time I'd have a hard time walking away from the kind of money he'll get even if he sits all of next year so I can't blame him too much for taking advantage of the Giant's dysfunction.

I mean, it's not all Eli's fault, that line is terrible but it isn't going to improve much, either. They should be looking for a Teddy Bridgewater (as a bridge QB, heh) or Tyrod Taylor.

The Giants for a long time have been very dysfunctional and Eli has gotten more blame than he deserves but he's still showing that he's on the decline and even the Giants will eventually make the decision about him being a starting quarterback in the NFL as I can't think of any team he'd be an improvement for.

Heh, maybe the ******. If their line could stay healthy I think he'd be better than Colt McCoy.

Eh I feel like that'd be an overall wash as Eli is better is some ways and worse in others and Washington is another dysfunctional team.

In other news though Johnny Manziel has been tossed from the CFL and barred from returning for unspecified breach of contract.  I know it is wrong of me to laugh at other's misfortune but I can't help but chuckle a little at it in this case.

His agent has been in contact with the AAF and the reason for his ban could be as simple as "failed to show for a mandatory weekly meeting" based on the wording in his CFL agreement.

You almost might think he took a cleverly built 'out' in his contract on purpose.   ^-^

Dunno, still feels like something more serious is at play there to permanently bar him from the CFL.

There's rumblings that the Steelers may torpedo the deal, which would be one the most hilariously franchise-self-destructing moves I've ever conceived of.

The Raiders flipping Amari Cooper, a 3rd, and a 5th into Antonio Brown and a 1st between the two deals on their WR1 position is, uh, kinda good though.

Nothing says “Abort mission. Mission a failure” like willingly taking a $21 million cap hit

Oakland is winning the off season so far. Next step is to not ****** up the draft

What I find most interesting is actually the report of Foles signing with the Jags.  That might actually get interesting.

BDN is forever a legend in Philly.  The Jags just became a second favorite team for a whole lot of people.

Kind of like it is with the folks who live in Jacksonville!  ;)

That's how it works in Detroit, too.  Everyone has a favorite team, because we'll always have the Same Old Lions to fall back on and gripe about in the off season.

So, the NFLs least surprising retirement - the Gronk is retiring.

https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/03/24/rob-gronkowski-retirement-new-england-patriots-tight-end-super-bowl-hall-fame

I'll miss him - he hasn't been as good the last season or two due to injuries, but at his best he was a runaway steam train and a big contributer to the Pats offense.

The real-time betting app would be well worth the cash he sunk in, especially if applied to the NFL. Money laundering seems a bit conspiracy theory for me. It looks like he just didn’t have the stomach to see if the league was going to achieve its three year business plan. Not that I blame him. Polian and Ebersol seemed to be baking on either a buyout or official sanction and subsidy from the NFL rather than the AAF ever being profitable on its own. From what I read shutting the league down now instead of after the the season saved $20 million
