Work. The company I work for is finally ready to spend some money on infrastructure, but they don't know what they have, so it's inventory time!

Hey, when did the company buy this case of scotch? Well, gotta count it.

One bottle...
Two bottles...
Three bottles...
Four bottles...

Three bottles...

Geoff: A town without Arby's is indeed a sad sight.  We lost our only Schlotzky's about five years ago (it became a Krispy Kreme, then a Chipotle, blegh) and there's no escaping it's a second-rate town now.  We only just got Sonic back this summer after a decade's absence.
The last time I was at a Schlotzky's was several years ago.  It was/might still be a ways away from my parent's place in Minnesota.  There's two Arby's in the area where I live.  One is on the route to the FLGS in Bremerton.

I think we lost at least two Sonics, leaving us with like three. Seriously, I guess being this close to OK means we're gonna have at least as many Sonics as McDonald'ses.

I like my bacon anywhere from crisp to soft-but-not-chewy.  Also Applewood smoked is preferred.  Thick cut.  Peppered bacon is also very good.

Soft bacon is yummy bacon.
I like mine black and crispy. One of the fesw foods I will eat when overcooked. All other meats products are towards the medium rare side, cooked to the point of edibility.

Within a mile of where I live (easy walking distance, to build up an appetite and then burn off the calories), I've got two Subways, a Chick-Fil-A, a Black-Eyed Pea, an Applebee's, a Chipotle, A Ruby Tuesday, A McDonald's, a Taco Bell, a Wendy's, a Carl's Jr, a Schlotzky's, a KFC/A&W combo, Panda Express, a Village Inn and three 7/11s to get 'chain restaurant' food. Sadly no Denny's, Arby's, IHoP or Burger King within three miles.

Almost forgot Sonic, where I had a Sausage Breakfast Toaster and Large Onion Rings for breakfast.

I've never eaten at a Sonic; they're very rare in my area of the country.  They tried to build one here in Blacksburg, but the town shot it down out of noise concerns.

It's a drive-in/thru fast food joint, what noise complaints could there be?

Yeah, that was basically the attitude of everyone who had actually been to a Sonic that was involved in the debate as I understand it.  Fearmongering won the day though.

I used to have most of those in multiples, but the tornado pretty well took care of that for the foreseeable future.

Then you really should reserve your comments. It's the best fast food chain out there.

There's a couple I prefer for other things, but I know of no better roast beef place.

My wife is a Hokie and is confused by the noise a Sonic could generate versus say...football on Saturday, the Kappa Sigma house (nice jab at her husband), beating Duke at Basketball, or the sound of a parade college students carrying goal posts down the street in celebration.

I'm trying to think what fast food/sit down restaurants aren't around Woodbridge/Potomac Mills.  The only we don't have is a high endish steak house.

I don't like roast beef, so it has little to offer me, I fear.

Wow, y'all have been busy while I've been busy earning money!

Am I right that all American bacon is the thin stuff that in the UK we call streaky bacon and you don't get the nice big rashers? I always wonder who gets the nice bits of bacon in the US, a bit like Pratchett's question about pork whisker soup - who's getting the good bit(s)?

I can't think of the last time I had their roast beef.  I pretty much only order the Market Fresh sandwiches.

We call that Canadian Bacon and put it on pizza.  Or just call it ham and put it on sandwiches.

Grocery store bacon is usually pre-packaged, thin-sliced bacon, which is fine. However, you can get thick bacon if you go to the deli counter or to an actual butcher shop and request it (depending on your store/butcher, of course).

As a Canadian I must mention that good Maple Smoked Canadian Bacon is great for more than just pizza. Its great for breakfast gose, good on burgers and a fine replacement for ham in a Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Thick cut bacon is so good... And ungodly expensive!
As befits my half-assed Irish background I had corned beef and cabbage every St. Patties Day, then I found out that it's actually supposed to be back bacon and cabbage...  I never really thought much as to why the Irish would eat a Jewish staple for one of there more important days...

I haven't had a good corned beef sandwich since I left New York.  That's a reason to go back!
