Well, you and the dog can't have kids. Though if you could, I'm sure they'd be beautiful.

Unfortunately for the dog I am saving myself for someone I can pretend is Christina Hendricks.

So I felt the wife and I have completed enough of our household move to begin breaking out miniatures and organizing my now significantly reduced hobby space.  Given how little I paint and how much my wife would like me to do something with the aforementioned minis I figured a fresh start was in order.  My goal was to go to the Woodbridge, VA Game Parlor and pick up something AFFS like, paint it, and maybe use it as a new avatar to engender further work through encouragement or ridicule.  My plan has already been derailed.  The Game Parlor in Woodbridge has closed; not just moved but closed completely with a sign directing customers to their Chantilly store.

Talk about sucking the life out of my painting inspiration.

Ouch, man, I feel your pain since I only have one game store in my town and they lack Btech minis.

Eagle & Empire over on Telegraph Rd. (in Alexandria/Kingstown) has some great painting and hobby supplies, a small stock of BT (and will order whatever you want), and several deep gaming tables. Plus, they know how to actually run a business. It's my store of choice for my mini supplies these days.
Eh.

It may be karmic since I refused to patronize the un-FLGS in J-ville because he wouldn't put any new CBT product on te shelves.  I did manage to pick up two museum scale Zeus models.

GhostBear, I'll keep Empire & Eagle in mind.  I take it you weren't a fan of Game Parlor?

I never got to any of the good NOVA places. :-\ Just the little hobby shop at Turnpike in Fairfax, on Pickett Rd and Main St that would order in BT but at the time did not stock any.

I have my suspicions, but I believe it stemmed from a poster whose name I never mention, lest they appear.

Vague recollection it was a combo of Yuri Hikado and Wombat.
Delivered from the blast,
Last of a line of lasts,
The pale princess of a palace cracked.
And now the kingdom comes;
crashing down undone,
And I am a master of a nothing place,
Of recoil and grace.

Quiet suffering is what I do best.  But I don't know how to trumpet it.

I'm glad to know; my first thought was that Chunga was miffed at me for some reason.

Gentlemen, I am proud to say that today in Hearts of Iron II (CORE Mod), British tanks under Montgomery reached Konigsberg in December of 1944, supported by Canadian and Republican Spanish troops, while another British thrust under Crocker and O'Connor liberated Warsaw. Best I've ever done in the land war.

It was basically won in June of '44, when Alan Brooke took six divisions and landed amphibiously behind German troops besieging Spain, and then another twenty British and fifty Spanish divisions came crashing over the border, crushing forty German and Slovak divisions, including almost all of the Nazi armor in France. (The 1st SS Leibstandarte survived long enough to be encircled and crushed by Horrocks' 30 Corps near Lorraine.)

So the Iron Curtain does not really fall in that campaign, then?

Well done, sounds fun - I have been meaning to look at it on Steam but am distracted enough at the moment to be potentially missing very important deadlines... and I thought it was XXX Corps?

No no no, it's Armeekorps ja?   ;)
Interestingly enough, I've actually got an ancestor listed in that game.  Generalmajor Adolf von Schell was part of the family that stayed in Germany, while my part of the family, as near as we can tell, was captured by Washington's troops after he crossed the Delaware in 1776.  It's actually kind of odd when you first find out that your family is in a game, especially one like the HoI series.

I know, I'm just messing with Edward.  I swear I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he breaks out in hives at merely being in the presence of spoken German.

Speaking of inane, and mostly insane, Mothers in Law, mine of almost four years (10 if you count the dating time) has just announced a week long excursion to our new humble abode.

Someone.  Please.  Kill me now.

 :o

Dav, I could share horror stories with you.  She is that crazy.

Yea, it really is that fast....
