Ack. Your wife and Christine can never be allowed to talk. If she ever got an idea like that...

I managed to get a 1/72 Spitfire 24 in under the gun before the ruling was finalized. It's fairly clear which one of us is going to be in charge of the family finances. I take heart, however; beyond my role as breadwinner, I am apparently excellent at putting cookie dough on cookie sheets, which Melanie hates to do. So my masculinity clearly isn't imperiled.

What if you're not the breadwinner, do the cooking, cleaning and are the worst driver? I am still a man, yes?

I actually think it's one of the harder schemes out there to attempt from the start, but I'm a notoriously weak painter.

The tips I found helpful were this: paint the white areas light grey and drybrush white over them, paint the blue a dark blue and very lightly drybrush GW Ice Blue over it, and just use a nice deep red. Ink black before drybrushing. The net effect is a very battleworn DG scheme, which worked for what I was doing.
Thanks for the advice.  I'll try to keep it in mind, though I'm not sure when I'll get around to actually painting.

Nothing wrong with a good bake.  I'm quite proud of my from-scratch pancakes.

Fear not, my brother, I too am the worst driver. Although, very excited about the '97 ES300 that I will soon be mishandling.

I'd also like to note that despite the incessant bitching and whining, it seems pretty easy to build a solid Drac company, even without hundreds of gauss boats.

Lies.  Gauss boats are all that matters.

There's one poster who complains about Drac 'mechs---who could I possibly mean?---and I always imagine their posts being read by someone whose voice rises to a shriek about three-quarters of the way through.

Yeah. At one point he described the 6/9/9, SnPPC, C3 spotter Phoenix Hawk as "mediocre".

To be fair, I am no fan of it or the 5/8/8 POS PXH the MOC got out of the Jihad, either.  I have an unreasonableintense dislike of IJJs however.

Heya folks!

I have recentyly sworn off the Wolf thread entirely and for the most part the Clan Chatterweb as well.  Seeing as how I actually know some of you guys in here I thought I might make this my new "hangout" spot.

That is if you dont mind a diehard Wolf fan mixing it up with you Davions.  :)

On another note I shudder at the thought of painting up a Davion Guards scheme.  I swore I would never paint a mech in that scheme again after VG.

I did however finally find a Davion scheme that I liked at GenCon, which is the Kestrel Grenadiers.

I do have a question about mechs though.  Any really iconic mechs that I should have in that unit?  I know I have a Templar, Chimera, Garm and a few oddball mechs that I could use for the unit and my FedCom unit is now facing the "bath" squad.  Im pretty sure I can get a decent amount of mechs, tanks, and BA in the unit.

It's not an exceptional combat machine, but I would be hard pressed to find a better mech to spot for a C3 lance. Near max armor, excellent mobility and weapons that are still in short range outside of ECM range does not a mediocre spotter make.

Welcome Wolf Lancer.

Welcome Wolf Lancer! Sorry to hear that chatterweb is no longer enjoyable...
Yea, I'm regretting choosing 2 lances of BoG mechs to paint. I only have 3 in progress, so I might compromise and just trim it down to a lance. I'll have to find another unit to paint up that I like, however. I kinda like the Capellan Dragoons, but that limits who I can play. I'll find something.

Oh, and Go Team (Sex) Panther!

Wolf Lancer: Off the top of my head: Rifleman, Enforcer III, Rakshasa, Javelin, Centurion, and Osiris are all pretty iconic.

Yeah. At one point he described the 6/9/9, SnPPC, C3 spotter Phoenix Hawk as "mediocre".

It's not the best stand-up, rock-em-sock-em 'mech out there, but it's an awesome Kurita Wraith replacement. Every faction needs their own nigh-unhittable medium jumper.

Well, surely know that one duel won't be dispositive.  That's why people bet, and bet again the next time.

MDM, your weekend sounds like mine, wherein I slew the Grievous Cockroach with a 30-point Can of Raid.

3CL, your wife has already figured out how to help you enjoy your hobbies by rationing their availability.  You remember the Twilight Zone where the guy went to hell and found it full of things he enjoyed without limit, thus denying him the pleasure of them, right?
