(Answered) Sprinting & special abilities
« on: 09 November 2019, 17:51:48 »
It has been previously clarified that sprinting precludes a unit from taking other actions such as spotting for indirect fire, picking up objects. I assume from the prior clarifications that the intent is that the pilot/MechWarrior/driver is so focussed upon moving their unit they have no time available to perform other actions.

As such I have found myself wondering if sprinting should affect certain special abilites. For example, I suspect ECM should still work as once turned on it would be an autonomous system broadcasting the ECM field. TAG on the other hand should not work, as like spotting for indirect fire it would require the pilot pointing the TAG system at a potential target.

There are however some other systems that are harder to make a decision on, AMS for example. Some of the fiction indicates it is a semi-autonomous system that requires consent from the pilot before engaging an incoming missile salvo.

Or what about C3? Is it a completely autonomous system that detects targets & broadcasts targeting data from the units sensors, or does it require some pilot assistance such as putting the crosshairs on a potential target? Can a sprinting unit be a C3 "spotter"?

TAG cannot be used while sprinting.
AMS, ECM, and C3 can.
A unit can’t select a target while sprinting.
TAG requires selecting a target.
AMS, in gameplay, does not. Nor does ECM or C3.
