Rimward map question (ISP3)
« on: 10 December 2012, 23:46:36 »
On the rimward sector map included on page 76 of (the PDF edtion of) ISP3, there is a single entry covering the location of the Alexandrian Covenant.

Does this entry refer solely to the world of Pharos (the estranged capital of a now-sundered realm); or do the other remaining worlds of what had once been a (relatively) unified state lie within the same area? Or the now-dead worlds of Cyrene and Sophos, for that matter?

(To put it another way, were the systems of the Covenant grouped together akin to the occupied worlds in places like the Chaine, Hyades, or Pleiades Clusters; or are the other surviving worlds of the Covenant more widely spread, but are simply not shown on the sector map?)

Hello,

It reflects the current state of the Covenant, which is so devolved that it's really just one system. There may be neighboring systems that derived from it and were parts of the Covenant in its heyday, but they're not really a unified state any longer and haven't been for generations.

Thank you,

I see, thank you.

Has there been any thought given to how large a realm the Covenant was at its height, in which the isolated colonies (living or dead) would likely be found? (Would it have been in the same category as, say, the New Delphi Compact, or perhaps even be as far-ranging as the Axumite Providence; or has a decision on that sort of thing not been made as of yet?)

Hello,

Yes.

It was small. "No more than a dozen worlds, likely even incapable of FTL travel" was the directive given to the author.

Thank you,

My original notes had the Covenant at a half dozen worlds in close proximity around the time of the First Upheaval, during which time the micro-state lost its FTL capability.
