I'm, frankly, a little surprised that the old and new components fit so well, but she looks great!

I figured I'd go with the Kell Hounds colour scheme, as I really liked Patrick Kell in the Warrior trilogy and he was a Thunderbolt pilot. I'm slightly torn, though; I paint autocannon and Gauss Rifle barrels in Gunmetal, with the opening in black, missile ports black with a spot of white to look like a warhead, PPC in azure blue, but what should I do the laser aperture in? I'm torn between brilliant red or brilliant light green. I think of lasers as red and pulse lasers as green, but that's easily changeable. What do you all do?

My standard procedure is to do PPCs in green, all lasers in red, and cockpits in a color that complements the paint scheme. For example, the red of a Kell Hounds mech would have me doing the cockpit in green. If the unit has several and/or very prominent PPCs, I'd likely go for a different shade than the guns, possibly more a turquoise.

I do cockpits in gold, for one very important reason; the first one I painted was a Banshee, and it looked like it was wearing a pair of Oakleys, like it was too cool to be a battlemech. I also tried silver too, but preferred the gold better. I justify it by saying that cockpits are polarised, and my bike helmet has an iridium visor that is gold-tinted and looks pretty cool. I might need to drill the left arm anyway, as the barrel is off a light gauss, not a large laser.
