New Arrow IV missile ammo
« on: 31 October 2011, 14:50:51 »
I´d like your feedback on two new kinds of Arrow IV ammunition that I have come up with... if they´re overpowered, underpowered, too cheesy, not cheesy enough, you guess it.

Arrow IV Improved Homing

This ammunition works like normal Arrow IV Homing missiles, with one difference - in the indirect fire phase, if a target is successfully hit with TAG, roll to see which location the TAG laser hits; with a Targeting Computer, or against immobile targets, TAG can target a specific location as per the normal rules. The Improved Homing missiles hit normally at a roll of 4+, but any missile for which the result is 7 or higher hits the exact location hit by the TAG system.

A ton of Arrow IV Improved Homing missiles has 5 shots and costs 25,000 C-Bills. Due to the larger guidance mechanism, each missile´s warhead only does 18 points of damage.

(This obviously is only useful is you can (A) make an aimed shot with the TAG or (B) fire multiple missiles per TAGged target which now hit in a more concentrated manner, but it either condition is fulfilled it becomes very useful indeed)

Arrow IV Dual Guidance

This ammunition works as a combination of Homing and regular Arrow IV ammunition. It is aimed like unguided area-effect ammunition, and without use of TAG systems behaves exactly like one; however, if in the round in which the missile arrives there is a target illuminated by TAG within 10 hexes, the missile will home in on this target instead. Unlike a regular Homing missile, it only hits an illuminated target on a roll of 6+; if it fails this roll, it scatters as if it was an area-effect missile aimed for the hex in which the target is located, and does area damage.

A ton of Arrow IV Dual Guidance missiles has 5 shots and costs 20,000 C-Bills. The missiles´ range is reduced by 1 mapsheet (to 4 for IS and 5 for Clans), and each missile only does 15 points of damage in homing mode, or 15/5 points as an area-effect weapon.

(This ammunition is intended as compromise between standard and homing ammo, particularly with a view towards units with limited ammo capacity like the -C3 Catapult)
