IS Raid on Clan Facility (pics!)
« on: 12 April 2011, 19:22:30 »
IS Forces attempt to Raid a Clan facility for a memory core. The IS forces were expecting a Clan garrison force, unfortunately for them they found a front line force spoiling for a fight!

We ran two IS lances +1 vs. a Star. The object was for the IS forces to capture a memory core from a base and return to the Dropships.

IS Dropships touchdown.

IS forces on the move, a Daishi A crests the hill far off in the distance.

The rest of the IS force move out.

The Daishi A fires down range on the the IS forces moving up the board, from its vantage point it has complete dominance of the field. A Shadow Cat manages to get behind the IS forces and slows the advance. At this point the IS forces have already lost a Shootist.

The IS Assualt mechs finally crest the hill and put some damage on the Daishi.

The Cauldron Born blocks the pass and stalls the IS forces. The Marauder II takes over 140 points of damage and goes out with a critical to the heavy gauss!

The Daishi is finally destroyed but by this time the IS force is down to three mechs. The Black Knight makes it to the target building but is heavily damaged.

The Cauldron Born finishes of the Black Knight while the other two IS mechs desperately trying to draw it away.

The remaining two clan mechs savage the remaining two IS mechs.

We called the game at this point as the IS forces had no possible means to complete their mission.

In the end the IS forces destroyed 3 clan mechs at a cost of 9 of their own.

A Nice Brutal game by the looks of it.

3-9 I think those clanners did their job well.

What were the skill levels?

IS is 4/5?
Clan is 3/4?

It was a mix, some IS were 3/4 up to 5/5 while the clan was mainly 3/3 to 3/4.

the Daishi was only 4/5....which was the worst part, we couldn't kill it....it just stood up on the hill raining down death and destruction on the battlefield....definitely a must in any clan star. I will check my sheets but 3-4 of the clan were 3/4 while the Daishi was 4/5. we had our heads handed to us that game. It didn't help that I built the star with either Ultra AC/20's or Gauss Rifles or both, the star was nasty in the defensive role....it was painful playing IS vs Clan....our mechs were dropping all around..and we played 12-13 turns.

That looks like a really fun game. I like the terrain!

Too bad the Inner Sphere forces got hosed, but I recognize the Clan miniatures! Good to see them being put to use.  [rockon]

+1 on that terrain, is that all custom built?

The terrain is heroscape, I added flock and some rocks to the green and attached trees. The taller tree represent heavy woods and the short ones for light woods.

How do you attach your trees?

I drilled small holes in the corner of the heroscape tiles and put the trees in. I have enough heroscape that I can leave them attached and just switch out the hole tile as needed.

And if a tree is attached to a hex it is wooded?

Yes, I also have rocks affixed to some tiles to represent rough terrain and some large rocks as blocking terrain.
