Campaign Cartographer for $30 via Humble Bundle
« on: 06 July 2020, 04:16:58 »
For just a bit over two days at this point, Humble Bundle is selling a "lifetime" license (yes, read the agreement) for Campaign Cartographer 3+ by ProFantasy Software.  It's something I had been waiting for retirement to purchase, but the price was just too good to pass up, especially since it includes several other components of the software suite.  I cleared posting the link with the Mods, so here it is: https://www.humblebundle.com/software/maps-extravaganza-software

Best of luck!

As a LONG TIME user of Profantasy software...(since around 1997-ish), I fully recommend the software, and if folks want any help, hit me Up!

I'm such a goober for the Profantasy stuff, I made sure I purchased when I could find it the hardCover version of the Tome of Ultimate Mapping, cause...BOOKS!

I figured, but thought that was a good point to let everyone else know.

I'm already contemplating buying Cosmographer 3 for $40, so the bundle is certainly working to ProFantasy's advantage.  I don't feel at all bad about "taking advantage" of them through this deal...  ^-^

Nope, not all, does the Humble Bundle include the Annuals? They are a good buy as they often have new Symbol Files, Templates, effects etc.

And get Fractal Terrains if part of the Bundle as well...I guarantee you will love it!

Hmm, not part of the package it appears. Shame, for BT I would honestly say it is really useful!

Here's the list in the Bundle (organized to the best of my limited knowledge of how they do things):

Campaign Cartographer 3+ (the main program)
City Designer 3
Dungeon Designer 3
Perspectives 3

Symbol Set 2 v3
Token Treasury

Source Maps Castles!
Source Maps Temples, Tombs and Catacombs!

Tome of Ultimate Mapping

Battle Map and Floorplan Collection

I like the idea of Campaign Cartographer but found the learning curve very steep. I barely got to grips with CC2 before running out of spare time. I actully got the most use out of my local RPG Club's copy of Campaign Cartographer for MS-DOS because it had quite a good tile-based random dungeon generator.

I picked up the Humble Bundle because the price was so good, even though I suspect I'll never have time to learn how to use it well enough

I will certainly do that when I have to time to tackle that learning curve.  I've put Fractal Terrains on my list to get, right after Cosmographer 3.  Thanks again for the tip!

Decided to get the big bundle in the last hour. At C$43 for 10 programs/titles, it's a bargain even if I'm not using it right away.

Tell ye'all what.

I'll make a BattleTech Tutorial over the next little while, maybe also a Template File, etc, and post here later.

First up, to get you playing, here is a Template File to start with.

You should be able save the BATTLETECH.txt file and then rename to BATTLETECH.FCT

If you've followed a default install of CC3Plus, put this file in the following Hidden Folder (don't ask me why)

C: ProgramData/Profantasy/CC3Plus/Templates/Other

Feel free to remane the File, and then when Launching CC3+ click on NEW MAP, select Other from the list of template locations, and there the file will be.

The last two pages of the tutorial are blank?  ???

The template is now saved in the same folder as the first one.

Thanks!

I have to chime in a recommendation for CC.  Excellent program for mapping your fantastic kingdoms and charting your uncharted seas.

Hmm. I'll check it when I get home.

Ah, yeah, just some formating stuff from when I was writing the doc. After the FULL PAGE spread of the map, nothing else, so not missing anything

And took me a while to find these as the URL had changed, but there is a LOT of good stuff here:

Additionally, the Dunjinni forums often has image files that can be imported into CC3+ as well:
