from my understanding it is finished and ready to release (they even had printed copies at Gen Con) but that they wanted to change the cover as they want a standardized cover that will be used on all novels, sort of like they have done with the shadowrun novels and ROC publishing did with the old classic battletech novels and then the mechwarrior dark ages novels. .....

They released some at GENCON.  My friend snagged a copy and I was able to borrow his. Decent novel.  I do not understand the hold up; if nothing else, the book could be released in PDF.
AS may be as much a representation of the Battletech universe as the original tabletop game is, but if you tell someone "I'm playing Battletech" chances are, if they know what that is, they're going to take you to mean the original tabletop game. - Steve Restless

I am seriously looking forward to buying the upcoming books but the lack of release date and such is bugging me.  I don't know what the hold up is and not releasing b/c of waiting for new art doesn't make sense...it has been a while already.  Does it take long for cover art to develop?  Idk...either way it bugs me because I reeeeaaaally want to get my hands on it.  Need new BTech reading material  ^-^

IIRC, it's set on Hall around the point of the fighting between the AMC and Word of Blake just before the Jihad kicked off.

I don't think anybody has a clue what's taking so long. The complete and utter silence is typical but it is a little worrisome.

Sort of.  It's set during the lead up to the Jihad on Hall, but the protagonists are Stealthy Tigers.

Kansas City players, or people who are just passing through the area, come join us at the Geekery just off Shawnee Mission Parkway for BattleTech!  Current days are Tuesdays in the afternoon and evening.  I can't make every single week, but odds are pretty good that somebody will be there.

The silence means absolutely nothing. Trust me, it is never something to be worried about. When they announce that something has been permanently canceled, that is the only time to worry.

I saw the posts on facebook so i feel much better about it now. I guess this is just one of those things that all of us have been waiting to arrive for so long that people like me are like "omg its so close but what happens if they run into legal problems like the unseen?!" I know thats not the case here but still. Its gonna feel so good to be reading them again.

Outlines are exactly?  Plotting how novels are interacting with one of there? Plan what books are coming out?

Honestly? Don't worry about any of the results.
If the books come, worry about whether you have the money to get it.
That is literally your only worry as the consumer.

I mean yeah as a fan I hate it when certain titles go dead (Fox I'm looking at you and Firefly).
Though unless we're sitting on huge piles of cash and a company to buy out things, there's jack and squat we could do about it.

If books come, and you like the product based on what you hear; then by all means get one.
If books get canceled, then simply shrug and just say "Well darn" and await another title/product that will eventually come if you like it.
It's not about winning or losing, no it's all about how many chapters have you added to the rule books after your crazy antics.

I've been reading my paper copy of Embers of War (with great glee) and I have at least 1 question: How do you describe the purpose of the Raiders personnel in the Stealthy Tigers?

Ever see someone in the Army walking around with a Ranger tab?  Similar functions.

Being Retired Navy (and rarely did I interact with anyone outside of Aviation as far as other services go) so my general understanding that being a Ranger was more than just a PQS. Maybe something similar to mystique like a Navy SEAL but I don't think so. SEALs are so outside the normal concepts of regular Navy that, to me, all the so-call Special Forces are treated as a branch all their own...

You can get a Ranger tab just by finishing the school, you don't actually have to serve in the Ranger Regiment.  It's essentially a status symbol designating the wearer as tough enough to measure up.

Truth. My cousin is a West Pointer and a Rangers school grad. It has a strong leadership teaching component, which is why a lot of junior officers go through it.....

I just want to say i own the physical book and i gave a copy to my brother who got me into Battletech fully.
It's a great novel, fall of a professional mercenary into the clutches of the Word of Blake was intriguing story with plenty of action you'd expect from a Battletech novel back in the hayday.   It's very well worth it.

I personally wish it was normal size book verses extra large paper back.   ;D

So was this ever published? Other than the release at GenCon that is.

It was--I was able to get a copy at my LGS when it came out in print the following fall, but I haven't seen one out in the wild since. That may mean it only got one print run, or something similar.

My guess would be that we may see it in POD sometime, if "Betrayal of Ideals" was successful.

Is Betrayal of Ideals enabled to be POD?  I've been waiting for the printed version to come out since it appeared at last year's gencon.   I want support my local store, but if its not destined for that, i want get anyway i can.

I'd have to check with those in charge to be sure, but my sense is that it's only ever going to be POD. I'd go ahead and pick yours up.
