Title: Lance / Star / Nova requirements vs Pilot SPAs?
Post by: Kastor on 19 April 2024, 16:14:14
Let's say the Recon Lance, it requires units to have a minimum Move of 10". Not mechs, units.

My assumption is that a Mech + pilot (and his SLAs) = unit.

Ergo, a Move 8" mech, with a Speed Demon SLA pilot (+2" Move, +4" sprint) would not break the reqs for the Recon Lance?

Would love to be correct, it's definitely fluffy for exceptions like "Only Mike can keep up with the Recon Lance in a Warhammer!" :D

SPAs do not count toward qualifying the unit for formations.

Is there a specific rulebook entry that says that outright or is this a FAQ / consensus level thing?

In the overall force building rules, SPAs are assigned to units last, after you’ve chosen/qualified for formations.
