;D So ages ago, when the people i played Battletech with complained about "ammo-bombs" or some nonsense one time too many i cooked up this piece of tech so they'd shut up and stop demanding i take the weapons out. I forgot about it, and more importantly lost that great acronym for it so it never struck me to post it here. As early as Last Tuesday i found my original naming tests for it on the back of a plan to kill off the party, so in the name of silencing those who cannot stop howling about ammo explosions, CRIE BABEE! (Cellular Reactive Implosion-Ejection Ballistic Ammunition Barrel Exclosure Equipment)
Cellular Reactive Implosion-Ejection Ballistic Ammunition Barrel Exclosure Equipment
A primitive alternate development to CASE, the CRIE BABEE system was developed in 3018 by Blackbriar Heavy Machines for the Free Worlds League due to complaints that valuable Battlemechs were being lost to machinegun ammunition. The CRIE BABEE system counter the damage caused by the munitions rupturing and ricocheting through the interior of the battlemech by partially rebuilding the internal structure to allow for the ammunition to sit on a recessed area external to the armor plating itself, contained by a separate secured container. This external area is then covered with a light plate with several areas designed to vent explosive force generated by the ammunition rupturing and a feed system designed to collapse inward on impact, severing the ammunition from rest of the Battlemech. The technology saw a slow addition to the FWL forces until the acquiring of CASE and pulse laser technology caused the use of ballistic antipersonnel weapons to lose favor in the FWL forces, and sees limited employment today over the more useful CASE.
The CRIE BABEE is a piece of equipment for Battlemechs, VTOL and vehicles that takes up 1 slot and weighs nothing, but all MG ammunition in that area must be attached to the CRIE BABEE. CRIE BABEE protects against damage from all machinegun ammunition in the installed location channeling all damage outside of the 'mech but does nothing against any other munitions explosions, including machingun ammunition that may explode in other locations. If the CRI BABEE or any attached ammunition is struck by a critical hit, all allocated ammunition is destroyed. CRI BABEE is a Factory-level refit and is considered part of the internal structure and as a result is not suitable for mounting as an omnipod, but may be otherwise built into an omnimech frame.
(Note: Ammo attached to CRIE BABEE cannot be manually dumped during gameplay.)
;D ;D ;D ;D
(edit, forgot to copy pasta in the line about ammo dumping)
