Clan Rearmament Project | C-Class Vehicles
With industry devastated by the Wolf War but with an urgent need to rearm and prepare for REVIVAL the Clan Council instituted a series of crash programs to bulk out their touman. One of these was the standardization of combat vehicle designs to bulk out the Touman. Although the Clan’s manufactured a wide range of vehicle designs few made it past the selection panels with many being under protected and over gunned.

Instead, modifications were made to SLDF vehicles found within old Goliath Scorpion Brian Caches, these were then tested, and upgrades suggested. These upgrades would consist of upgrading the basic weaponry with the more easily manufactured ‘improved’ versions and use of more advanced ferro-fibrous armor that was rejected for Mech use by the Hell’s Horses.

While they were initially supposed to all be omni-vehicles for cost-efficiency only the Carnivore retained this characteristic as its large pod space gives it the best modularity and its 54 km/h speed is still a faster and smoother ride for an Elemental. This made the Chimera and Cuirass significantly cheaper as well ensuring that more could be produced and lost in battle if necessary.

Clan Star Adder also utilized a common drivetrain and engine with the Chimera to develop their Castellon drone command unit.

Carnivore Heavy Tank
Mass: 80 tons
Movement Type: Tracked
Power Plant: UPPS 240 Fusion
Cruising Speed: 32.4 kph
Maximum Speed: 54 kph
Armor: Heavy Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
     2 Vehicular Grenade Launcher
     2 Anti-Missile System
     30.0 tons of pod space
Manufacturer: UPPS (United Pentagon Power Systems)
     Primary Factory: Pentagon Worlds
REVIVAL Forward Factory: Castle Vannes Complex
Communication System: Carnivore Comm-trac
Targeting & Tracking System: Predator TOTS
Cost: 6,113,250 C-bills

Description – The Carnivore is the Clan’s standard assault tank, durable and reliable it frequently occupies the center of an armored column and delivers powerful, accurate long-range firepower. Its anti-missile systems and smoke grenade launchers provide limited protection from enemy fire. Even against Clan weaponry fifteen tons of heavy ferro-fibrous ensure it has incredible longevity.

Armed principally with ballistic weaponry in its primary configuration it is a mech killer.
When carrying a quartet of mortars, it can lay waste to formations of Elementals and conventional infantry from relative safety.
It can also mount a pair of Arrow IV tactical missile launchers and project power at extreme ranges.

With an abundance of pod space and a heavy turret the Carnivore can be reconfigured in the field to serve multiple battlefield roles.

Description – The Cuirass was initially developed as a low-cost replacement for the Chimera that would fit in smaller transport bays. With roughly half the cost but significantly less capability it serves principally in occupation clusters as part of a mechanized unit. Testing by Clan Hell’s Horses however has shown while it is less capable than the Chimera its greater speed does allow additional tactical options and so it was approved for front-line use as a flanker capable of enveloping an enemy formation or for raids on lightly defended targets.

REVIVAL Forward Factory: Castle Vannes Complex
Communication System: Adder Hi-Fi All Spectrum
Targeting & Tracking System: Adder All-Aspect
Cost: 3,098,400 C-bills

Description – The Castellon is the culmination of Clan Star Adder’s long held dominance in the information battlespace. One of the few Clans to utilize extensive inventories of drones for attack, area control, reconnaissance, and utility because of fighting Clan Mongoose for centuries. The Star Adders based their Castellon on Hi-Scout Drone Carriers brought back by the Wolf’s Dragoons and sought to provide their Star Commanders with a single point of contact to activate and control the proper support assets from anywhere within an 80 sq-km area (sans satellite uplink) to handle whatever situation they might encounter.

With four drone control consoles and an extensive array of communications equipment the Star Adder’s can manage four M-class drones, monitor remote sensors, establish satellite uplinks, and are reasonably well-protected from enemy attack. The Castellon is also capable of fighting off light threats with its lasers and grenades, as well as intercepting enemy missiles with its anti-missile systems.

Clan Rearmament Project | M-Class Vehicles
Three blood feuds have existed for most of Clan history and feature prominently in the rise and fall of its members from 19 to 6. While the Hell's Horses and Ghost Bear's feud is over economics (particularly who controls Tokasha and Hellgate's immense factories and mines) and Clans Wolf and Jade Falcon's is over politics (hurt feelings about Nicholas Kerensky's legacy lying with the Wolves) for Clans Mongoose and Star Adder it is immensely personal.

These two Clans are in a constant state of undeclared and intermittent Total War with one another. Unfortunately for them but fortunately for others the attention the hyper-aggressive Mongoose pay to them provides them with abundent real world experience and occasional support from other Clans (who would otherwise raise the Mongoose's ire). To this end Clan Star Adder possess extensive experience fighting a determined adversary (and the inverse is true with the Mongoose) in complex, broad area trials and in space. Due to this experience and their dedication to information dominance they possess the largest inventory of drone technology in the Homeworlds seeing them as pragmatic tools. Despite ilKhan Leo Shower's distain for them the Clans' agreed that when facing the Inner Sphere there was a need for force multipliers and Star Adder had a proven solution already in production.

The M-Class drones when combined with their command units (such as the Castellon or equivalent towed units, orbiting or aerial platforms, and fixed installations) are capable of large area denial and providing custom tailored solutions to any battlefield problem a single radio call away. Drone rotary wing and fixed aviation has widely been used to locate and target fast moving Mongoose formations, Marduk artillery guns can be networked into a spotter drone and deliver firepower within a few minutes, remote sensors can trip and lead to groups of tanks waking up to fight an incoming adversary without delay at the mere press of a button. The network centric approach of Star Adder warfare is fast enough to catch the highly adaptive Mongoose and while their nominal allies, Clan Steel Viper, call such tactics 'dishonorable' or talk about the Adder's 'technicians fighting their wars' the Star Adders have proven them wrong time and again.

Description - While the Marduk is typically armed with a Sniper howitzer there are also versions equipped with direct fire weapons. The Star Adder's use these vehicles to provide flexible battlefield support and as the main striking arm of their fixed or rotary wing spotter craft via Copperhead TAG guided rounds. Because they are drones the risk of losing personnel to counter-battery fire from hostile artillery or aerospace strikes is eliminated. Despite this they are still expensive platforms and often have a Star of Mastiff drones nearby to intercept enemies before they can threaten the artillery.

Description - The inexpensive Mantis drone is the bane of Clan Mongoose's light Touman, its chin turret mounted pulse lasers and powerful engine give it the ability to locate, engage, and (if equipped with a TAG targeting pod in a centerline mount) provide targeting information to nearby Adder assets to destroy its target. While light its armor is enough to protect it from incoming fire from the frequently less deadly weapons of its prey.

Hachiman Hull Defense Tank
Mass: 45 tons
Movement Type: Tracked
Power Plant: 180 Fusion
Cruising Speed: 43.2 kph
Maximum Speed: 64.8 kph
Armor: Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
     2 LRM 15

Introduction Year: 2842
Cost: 2,455,938 C-bills

Backstory - The Hachiman Hull Defense Tank was originally designed by Clan Star Adder during the Golden Century as a point defense unit for their (SLDF era) warships which were proving increasingly vulnerable to Clan Mongoose's Aerospace fighters. As a next generation of warships replaced Exodus vintage ones which were modified to incorporate more and better point defense weapons there was a reduced need for these units. During the Wolf War Hachiman tanks were reactivated by all Clans to protect poorly armed support ships such as Merchant Carracks and Volgas from Aerospace raiders. There are accounts of them on top of Jumpships which was an unwelcome surprise for the lightweight and poorly armored aerospace fighters normally tasked with attacking these targets.

I would not want to be the poor freeborn to be assign to drive on the hull of the ship. Go a bit too fast and you've turned yourself into an asteroid.  ;D Perhaps this is the niche for vehicular jumpjets?

But it's a good and economic solution to the lack of PDW found on many early ship designs.

A question arises spontaneously, how does a tank defend a warship?
I can understand a dropship that has landed to defend, but a warship that is in space, how can you think of defending it with LRM-15s?
How could it move in the space attached to the ship's hull? It should be equipped with magnets or it should move on a kind of guide rails.
Wouldn't it be more logical to create an armed small craft?

There are in fact rules for that and it is magnetic. Armed smallcraft also exist but tanks are good enough for point defense

Macross had scenes of portholes being opened up to let destroids act as mobile turrets too.  I wouldn't be surprised if vehicles could do this as well for warships.

Chasseur Mobile Protected Firepower
Mass: 30 tons
Movement Type: Wheeled
Power Plant: 160 Fuel Cell
Cruising Speed: 64.8 kph
Maximum Speed: 97.2 kph
Armor: Standard
Armament:
     1 ProtoMech AC/8
1 Vehicular Grenade Launcher (or Infantry Support Machine Gun)
Cost: 782,575 C-bills

Description - The Chasseur is typically used as part of an occupation Cluster along with the Cuirass. Unlike its slightly larger and more expensive tracked or drone cousins however the Chasseur is meant to suppress infantry formations, attack other Light Armor, and as a prime mover for artillery or field guns. This vehicle is commonly used as a convoy escort or for infantry support instead rather than the standard line of battle. As a wheeled vehicle it is very swift on roads making it highly responsive to calls for fire and its tires are much easier to replace than tracks opening the MOS to other candidates and allowing for a smaller crew.

Chupacaba High Speed WiGE
Mass: 39 tons
Movement Type: Wing in Ground Effect
Power Plant: 275 XL
Cruising Speed: 108 kph
Maximum Speed: 162 kph
Armor: Ferro-Lamellor
Armament:
     2 Streak SRM 4
Manufacturer: Scientist Workshop #478
Primary Factory: Mammoth Factory Ship SLS Von Braun
Communication System: Set III
Targeting & Tracking System: Horus V
Cost: 11,345,600 C-bills

Description - The Clans never throw anything out and there were a large number of 275 XL Fusion Engines left over after the Wolf War that were gradually phased out and stashed away in Brian Caches. That is until the Scientist Caste decided to 'repurpose' them for an experimental project using this excess inventory of engines and the unpopular micro pulse lasers. For amusement purposes they followed the now established C-vehicle naming protocol and dubbed their new ground in wing effect prototype vehicle, The Chupacabra, for its piddly laser fangs.

The prototype proved incredibly difficult to pilot requiring an AeroWarrior linked into an advanced SLDF neurohelmet as it used a modified version of the Anhur's turbofans for forward flight. This neurohelmet link would provide her with all the necessary flight information needed for an aircraft but take into account the additional complexity of ground clutter or wave action. Sitting side-by-side was a gunner/sensor operator and behind them was the vehicle commander/navigator. The prototype design utilized the 4.5 tons of unallocated space in the back for deploying remote sensors and...a combat vehicle escape pod, which was used...a few times before the bugs were worked out, saving the lives of the test crew on multiple occasions.

Once the flight computer was adjusted the Scientists built a dozen of these vehicles and tested them extensively at the Northern Expanse Proving Grounds on Hector with multiple experimental payloads to find a mission for the Chupacabra. The most successful of these was the 'Fusillade' as it would later mature into the Advanced Tactical Missile. There were however few roles these platforms could perform that couldn't be done with an already existing one and thus it remained relegated to prototype status.

As a prototype however the Scientist Caste no longer needed to seek Warrior authorization to deploy it in support of Watch Operations. With the Watch the Chupacabra found a role as it was basically a fast, low profile, floating airframe, one conveniently capable of deploying from orbit while being difficult to detect with remote sensors until it got within hearing range.

Variants
Prototype - Developed very much as a ground level fighter the Chupacabra Prototype utilized micro and medium pulse lasers to provide anti-mech and anti-infantry firepower during long patrols. Remote Sensors could be dropped while on the move and a combat vehicle escape pod was on standby should the Chupacabra encounter 'difficulty.'
Quirk - Hard to Pilot

Fusillade-X aka 'Derringer' - Equipped with a trio of Fusillade Missile Systems the 'Derringer' is named for an ancient Terran Pistol with only two shots. Those two shots tend to be very accurate however and the options for ATM ordnance have grown in variety with many of them 'in development' and only available to the Scientists. The Fusillades mounted on the dorsal surface are however very easily reloaded by design. Derringers can easily return to a forward rearming point, get a drink, and be back in the fight as soon as its engines could return it to the battlezone.
Quirk - Fast Reload

High Speed Infantry Transport - A further refinement on the Chupacabra the infantry transport variant is the most common type used by the Watch and as such has seen its basic systems upgraded to the most advanced types. Its basic sensor suite is almost on peer with a Battlemech complete with supercooled IR optics, sensitive RADAR, and the most advanced electro-optical imagers. 4.5 tons of infantry bay space allows for 10 Nighthawk PA(L) Troops, 12 Motorized SCUBA Frogmen, 20 Foot Combat Engineers/Motorized Troops, or 25 Jump Troops. These are very common configurations for mounted Watch Operatives making the Chupacabra almost perfectly 'tailored' to their preferred deployment patterns...completely by accident.
