Tracked Weapons Carrier (PPC)
« on: 05 February 2024, 20:47:15 »
Just a little something I'm experimenting with, kind of like a smaller Scorpion with more armor, no anti-personnel weapon and a PPC.  Based it on the hover version from Turning Points Glengarry, just with tracks, more armor and a bit slower.  Figure it's universal enough that it could've been in the scenes forever, and even been an inspiration for the later Scorpion.

Can you get down to 10 tons with a LPPC?

Can you get down to 10 tons with a LPPC?

Yes, but you have to give up something.  At 10 tons, with 4.5 tons of armor and 5/8 movement you're 2 tons overweight.  You can cut armor down to 3.5 tons, and movement to 4/6, or you can drop the turret and keep the 5/8 speed, but I don't recommend that.

Another option would be to go wheeled, stay 5/8, and cut a ton off your armor.  You might, though, be better dropping to 4/6, dropping the armor to 4 tons like a Scorpion, because you can take advantage of a smaller engine size:

Code: [Select]
Light Wheeled Weapons Carrier (LPPC)

Mass: 10 tons
Movement Type: Wheeled
Power Plant: 20 Fusion
Cruising Speed: 43.2 kph
Maximum Speed: 64.8 kph
Armor: Standard
Armament:
     1 Light PPC
Manufacturer: Unknown
     Primary Factory: Unknown
Communication System: Unknown
Targeting & Tracking System: Unknown
Introduction Year: 3070
Tech Rating/Availability: E/X-X-E-D
Cost: 231,875 C-bills

Type: Light Wheeled Weapons Carrier
Technology Base: Inner Sphere (Standard)
Movement Type: Wheeled
Tonnage: 10
Battle Value: 265

Equipment                                          Mass
Internal Structure                                    1
Engine                        20 Fusion               1
Cruising MP: 4
Flank MP: 6
Heat Sinks:                   10                      0
Control Equipment:                                  0.5
Power Amplifier:                                    0.0
Turret:                                             0.5
Armor Factor                  64                      4

                          Internal   Armor
                          Structure  Value
     Front                   1         16
     R/L Side               1/1      11/11
     Rear                    1         10
     Turret                  1         16

Weapons
and Ammo              Location    Tonnage
Light PPC              Turret       3.0

Not sure what I'd use as a stand-in for those.  For the tracked ones, I'd probably use my GHQ 1/285 scale Abrams, same as I do for Scorpions.

I question the armor distribution.  :blank:

It can take a PPC anywhere, and a Gauss to the Front and Turret... what's not to like at 10 tons? ???

Armor distribution is literally the same as the stock Scorpion.
