WTF happened to my Account?

My username was Aldous and I've been a member for years. One day I logged in and my account no longer existed!

I want to know what happened! Why was my account deleted? >:(

When was the last time you logged on? The board crashed a few years ago and everyone lost their account.

There was a massive forum crash in January of 2011.  The forum boards had to be essentially rebuilt from the ground up.  If you had not logged in since before that point, your account would have been lost.

Then it'll be looked into by the people who maintain this place.

Mistakes happen. After all, the site is run by humans, designed by humans, on hardware built and designed by humans...you get the drift. There's only so much you can expect when you inject that many humans into any process.

That's an odd one.

I'm not sure what happened. Somewhere between September 7th and today, your account was deleted.
It's not clear why; while our anti-spam measures have repelled more than a million spam accounts (1,008,366 to be exact), and while we've manually removed more than 130,000 of em since the forum restart, the manual process we have for that really should've excluded you as well, even if your account showed up in our spam filter (IE, you share an IP with a spammer). You don't currently show up in that filter.

So, I've got no explanation, but I do have an apology.
I'd be happy to modify your current account name to 'aldous'. I don't have information on your post count prior to deletion, but I'm happy to give you a post count based on your memory of what it might have been. It will not be possible to recover your PMs.

Once again, my apologies for the inconvenience.

Weird. A few months ago I tried to re-register using Aldous as my username but it did not work. I concluded that the name Aldous itself was blocked.

Can you change "aldousjose" to "Aldous"? I assume my password stays the same?

If there are any benefits to having a high post count then please give me the highest. I am certain I have reached that amount.

Account name changed, and update has been sent to your email as well.

No one was even in the zipcode of the highest rank even prior to the crash. I gave you an arbitrary 1000 posts to get you the LT badge.
